That is what tyrants always do. The "debate" over abortion in America is another example. Most people want abortion to remain available in cases of rape, the mother's health, etc. -- and advocate proper sex education to prevent teens from getting pregnant -- but powerful conservatives led by the churches want all abortions outlawed and they basically want sex education outlawed as well. What happens if they have their way? Rich families like the Trumps will easily be able to send their female relatives overseas if they need abortions. Regular women will be forced to bear children even if they were raped -- or if giving birth kills them -- or seek out illegal abortions from shady doctors which might kill them anyway. The churches benefit by having more followers (donors) born. Swinging this back to Brunei, if the rich and powerful want to have gay sex or commit adultery, they can easily travel to countries where they will never be caught engaging in those so-called sins. And those who are "truly" untouchable, such as the ruling class, can indulge behind the walls of their palaces and nobody is able to do a thing about it. But regular people? They get stoned to death! Another flaw in this law is that you need 4 witnesses to witness the incident. If they already plan to get you after getting the tips, of course they will bring alot of people to get you. But in raping circumstances, how to get 4 witnesses to witness the incident.

And so are all the other laws that pertain humans. Laws of nature have not been made by humans, but then we don't know if they were ever "made" or if they have existed forever. If God is love, this is only a claim by some religious professionals. In everyday life we find that the Nature that controls us has no feelings. No love, no hate, is neither good nor bad except for our own perceptions.

Guest guest
29 minutes ago, thepresentfitness said: Let's boycott Brunei. And do not buy anything related or from Brunei. Not a good idea, Brunei is a very close country to Singapore, the currencies of Singapore and Brunei have a long standing parity agreement, it shows how much Our Singapore government values the close ties of Brunei and Singapore, $1 brunei exchanges for $1 singapore dollar, not even Australia dollar can match hor LOL. Just recently Australian dollar actually devalued against Singapore dollar , to below parity, S$0.97 buys A$1.00 hor, http://www.mas.gov.sg/Currency/Currency-Interchangeability-Agreement-between-Brunei-Darussalam-and-Singapore.aspx and Singapore sents its armed forces to the jungles of Brunei for live training and jungle training, So Brunei is important partner to Singapore, don't simply simply ask to boycott Brunei, its more complicated than just doing stupid , drop of a hat thing. Singapore values the warm and close relationship with Brunei. and Asean member countries have an agreement not to interfere in the domestic affairs of each other's countries also. Singapore does not like to interfere in other countries domestic policies,as much as Singapore do not like other country to interfere with Singapore domestic policies. You . the presentfitness, don,t tell me you did not know all these things I mentioned. The international community will do the boycotting only when Brunei is about to carry out the punishment , don't jump the gun , no one has been caught and convicted yet. And Bruneians are so rich and well educated with high education standards, their PLU population will not be stupid to get caught and those that have the means will move out of Brunei to work and live . even a Bruneian moving to neighbouring Malaysia will have solved the problem of living life as a PLU and not get caught under the punishment of stoning, and many Bruneians of liberal leanings have already migrated to England, Australia and New Zealand or any liberal democracies long time ago. Boycotting is not advised with so many things at stake. And we try not interfere in other country domestic affairs. just dont stupid stupid go tother countryand openly do things that are already known to be against their laws. upshot
Couple of years back they were the first to install Shariah Court in Brunei... what did you think would happen next. They claim it does not have much big impact where it concerns harsh and deadly punishment but as each year pass... and Malaysia was having such plans too ... incrementally pushing this forward.. What do you think might happen next? Matter of time if I dare to speculate and how long before this is more than just something for only those of their faith.. Before like the middle east, it start to include others as well so long as you have your feet on their soil. If they do not get their thinking out of the old ways it is not just being backward in religion but with everything else. It is not by some coincidence almost all countries dominated by this faith has the least progress, intellectual, varieties of things, invention, happiness without worry, ability to grow wealth..etc Their only claim to fame is in oil... and that lies only in the hands of the few. Sure they build some nice stuff for them but 90% of their people live in sub modernity, less proper housing condition, poverty is still big...etc. Take out an excel sheet and do your statistic. The numbers does not lie. This is 2019 and how much really have change for them compared to other race and of other faith. Something so wrong but yet many can not see it. I am not a big supporter of all religion but some religions are more dangerous and backward than others that does not propel or make their people.. better. Sad. Guest Football Fairy Fanatic
The Singapore Premier League (formerly known as the S-League) includes a football team from Brunei. I think they are called Bandar DPMM. Something like that. Don't feel like looking it up. Anyway every other SPL team has to travel there at least once per season. If we had progressive anti-discrimination laws like many Western countries, there would be pressure to kick Bandar DPMM out of the SPL unless Brunei's government stops trying to turn the clock back from 2019 to 1519. Unfortunately, however, that won't happen.

Guest Football Fairy Fanatic
The reason people like Clooney, DeGeneres, and Winfrey are getting involved is because they believe in human rights for everybody and everywhere. They have the ability to speak out against injustice and they are doing it on behalf of oppressed people who can't speak out for themselves. The world will devolve into nothing but a mass of brutal dictatorships if nobody speaks up against things that are wrong.
