Guest Jun Xiang
Was there last night, thought I still like the old sg but anyhow the reno had created somrwhat new area for relax. But I was very turned off last while at the 2nd floor tv lounge, the whole area is suddenly filled with food cooking smell" the smell of fry food choked up the whole place. It was the staff doing his cooking.U can't cook in an aircon room even u msy have a cooker hood. It still smells. Many were turnrd off and left the yv lounge..Sigh, it's a harzsrd to avoid.
abang
I do agree, rancid smell of fried-food lingers longer than any other deodorant. So it would be best if you have to offer food on your premise, keep it to sandwiches and crackers.Otherwise, move your food-preparation area to the exterior .. open air....By the way, this is to Shogun management, do you have the licence to sell food/drinks in your premise? If not, dont let your competitors report it to the police. JWesley
Visited the newly renovated Shogun last weekend. The place looks newer and neater. They revamped the place and it's now totally different from what it was. They coverted their upper floor to an outdoor patio and most of the rooms are now in the lower floor. They have also done away with their main door.Personally I don't really like this new place as I prefer the old gloryholes in the dark. They still have those but only more visible and quite indiscrete. Not that I mind but it just takes the thrill out of gloryhole sex.... It's good to see them live life to the fullest. My friend even had fun with a visually handicapped but handsome guy in another sauna. My friend is goodlooking but was attracted to him as soon as he walked in.So happy for both of them. Personally I m yet to visit d new Reno shogun but already not looking forward judging Fr all these feedbacks . He just been v greedy when he saw his business is booming his place will end up like 17 most saunas failure are due to stupidity of d owner refusing to listening to his customer n they deserve what they get when it is closed down Heard recently that Ten Men is also going for Reno hope d owner has some brain better then d stupid shogun boss to include glory hole cubicles Then many shogun customers will go there

Guest Bigirl
How will the crowd or management of shogun react to a guy wearing girls swimsuit in the sauna?
Guest MrTanner
Actually I am one of those who dun like the new Shogun. The new place may be cleaner and more cosy but it is just not the right mood for cruising and hook ups.Anyway, i was told by a friend of Vincent the boss that this final design layout was not what he had in mind. To renew his sauna licence, he had to obtain the Fire safety certificate. And regulations state that layout of the rooms must provide easy escape access when there is a fire. Hence the maze upstairs was torn down and became a open space. Hence the new layout downstairs where everything is open. The opening of the new Shogun was delayed cos Vincent had to submit his design layout several times. Each time he submit the forms, he has to pay the architect n Scdf thousands of dollars. In fact, cos of this fire safety thing n renovations, he had to borrow quite a lot of money from the bank.Vincent had also tried to look else where for a new location but cannot find any better place. So instead of blaming Shogun, Blame the Scdf n the Fire safety code!Anyway, I believe that Ten men is undergoing a similar fate. I think that maybe after their renovations, the maze there may be gone too. PS. I do not work for Shogun or own any shares of the business. abang
Better be safe than Sorry.I have yet to visit the newly renovated space yet.FSB rules and regulationsI deal with Fire Safety Bureau in the course of my work and yes, they have very strict guidelines. The corridors leading to the Fire Escape Exit must be at least 1.2 m.The previous design was less than 60 cm and had to go.SCDF/FSB look beyond the design but also into the building materials used.Nowadays, there is even this Risk Management checks to ensure minimal chance of accident.I dont have a share of this business. However after reading about the financial hardship and capital investment by the Shogun management, please lend our support and patronise the place. bigis4me
From what i have read on shogun financial situation and what they are trying to do the best thing is for all of us to support our fellow people and just do with what we have or can have as they have restrictions too. free2play
Seems I'm the only one disappointed with the changes.UpstairsThe first thing i noticed on the way upstairs was the newly varnished and clean steps, then I was blinded by the bright lights at the top step and almost fell trying to make my way up there. I used to love the upstairs cruising areas. All the twists and turns and cosy rooms and spaces to have a great grope with someone. What's the outdoor area for? Today I managed to see no more than 3 people at a time out there and they were smoking so it turned me off being there. To get to the dark room you have to walk past those people watching tv and disturb them. Not ideal for me. And a small dead end cruising area with a few rooms where there was no-one each time I went there to check it out.The out door showers are a nice improvement on the old showers though. The bar - just a way to make more money out of customers. Oh yeah......who has pockets to carry money upstairs with them??? Also the bar is right in front of the tv......poor planning.DownstairsNice showers and like the shower heads with lights. Toilet area is good but putting urinals there encourages people with poor aim to splash all over the floor where people walk by to go to the steam room.Gym room was far too cold, as was all of downstairs. It was the main reason my friend and I left. Far too cold. The downstairs cruising area felt like a catwalk or an airport runway! So open and not much chance for privacy. Just one straight line. It needs some twists and turns for a more intimate feel. And the biggest disappointment - the glory holes. What kind of idiot puts glory holes in a wall that's 4 inches (10cm) thick? Common sense tells you that the average Singaporean c**k isn't much longer than that, so a hole that size in a wall so thick will leave a lot of guys feeling very red faced. Also, the glory holes cubicles have no sense of privacy about them. I felt that there were many guys there wanting to use them but embarrassed to because the cubicles are now in such an exposed area of the whole sauna. Before the arrangement was quite anonymous. many guys are embarrassed to have others know that they like to suck c**k. And the lighting......way too bright! It needs to be much more subtle.I can see how many guys would be pleased with the renovation as it does look great and everything is clean and fresh. I just think that it's change in the wrong direction for many of the customers. Lots of money spent on great cosmetic and hygienic improvements, but so little thought into design and the practicalities. The entry fee at $12 is still very reasonable. Two thumbs up for the quality of the renovation, but two thumbs down for the new design and the facilities. Sorry Shogun, but you've lost me as a customer.I know that my opinion is different to that of many others, but it is just that, my opinion. Please feel free to disagree with me. I'm open minded and always willing to listen to any criticism. Thanks for reading.Went to Shogun yesterday & now I understand how many people don't like the way it is now.The gist of it is that Shogun isn't very conducive for cruising. thick.white gave a very good review (see above). I still prefer TMC and I hope that TMC won't change its lay-out drastically now that it's undergoing renovation.
abang
If Shogun need additional funds, they can go for a IPOThis is the most naive idea given to boost the financial status of Shogun.Shogun has yet to get sufficient credentials to, even, apply for IPO.Correct me if I err here, but Shogun does not has a GST certificate. This is NOT an advert. After hearing so much, I will do my own "market research" this weekend. The "permanent" fixtures cannot be changed but perhaps the addition of "temporary" structures (such as screens, curtains, 屏风) can enthuse fellow patrons to cruise more.Let me see for myself. abang
I made the "maiden" trip to Shogun. Yes, the renovation had reduced the "useful" area of the sauna.Like many of the disappointed patrons, I found the upper level poorly and wrongly utilised.I managed to have a chat with Vincent and he confirmed the restrictions and constraints. The place is supposed to run as a HEALTH club and that's explain the sudden inclusion of the few gym machines. The building is gazetted as a heritage area and as such, there was a limitation on "constructed, permanent fixtures."I was also informed that the snack bar counter and TV will be moving outdoors within a fortnight. That ends the chapter of odour and noise.Concerning the reduction of rooms, he lamented that his original idea of more rooms was rejected by SCDF.Even the mattress in the 2 TV areas are mounted on movable boxes as "permanent" fixtures were disapproved.Overall, I am joining the group who dislike the new layout. The shower area is horribly small - the installation of urinals and the extra 2 shower heads leading to the steam roomlooks redundant as the former shower area will soon be converted to urinals. The open area upstairs will be strategically covered by the end of the month.Perhaps, by then, we could have nude tanning there. This is my overall assessment:Layout - 4/10Willingness to move things around - 7/10Earnestness of staff service - 8.5/10Go there because of the clients, be it matured or chubby.Shogun management, touch up the outdoor area as there is potential to develop the space.Make us like your place and return to it repeatedly. Especially if the headcount was in the 60-80 region, as quoted. Why do I have this feeling that guest was trying to over-hype the place??Anyway, here's my take on the Shogun Revamp : Good for relaxation and unwind, not so much when it comes to sex. The 2nd floor sadly is under-utilised, especially the outdoor area. To start with, why not provide some MEN magazines as well as play some soothing music, since obviously the outdoor area is geared towards the spa look&feel? Also the dead end on the right ( on the 2nd floor) is too small for play, the area just after the curtain (near the staff rooms) is too bright to do anything frisky The rooms on the 1st floor though are soooooo much better if compared to the rooms in the old Shogun. That's the way I like it - big enough for 3some ( my #1 agenda when I visit Shogun). Haha !! So, if there's a pleasant looking dude feeling frisky and thinking of doing a 3some, call me maybe ??? From what I speculated, definintely around 100, with ppl coming in & going out( with the other under renovation)As for goodlooking guys, they are there & gone within an hour. Have not been to the new Shogun but been reading so many things about it. If the 2nd lvl had been turned into a place for chilling out, then it's more approriate. I remember it was an add-on place with zinc roof & it was fxxking hot even with the air-con full blast. Obviously not meant for indoor space or rooms. Plus not energy efficient, too. It's good to have a place to relax & meet up with old friends & acquaintance - no poppers, no drugs, no prostitution. Just a comfortable space to be oneself, without judgement. Sometimes, it's better than sex. From what I have read, i never like the maze on the 1st floor. It' so scary & dark. I guess it's a better floor plan now with rooms downstairs. Are the rooms comfortable? & big enough for 3P? so funny!

Now there are only a handful of cubicles &small rooms. Seems like not much thought were put in to provide a larger play area.I am glad that I have finally utilised my 10-visit pass and I won't be returning to it anymore. What a shame to have spent so much money just to reduce the number of potentialclients. I think fellow competitors can breathe easier now to know that they will begetting more business from all the disappointed ex-Shogunners. Feels really really uncomfortable on the 2nd floor and out of place on the 1st floor. Owner seems to forget that most guys go there for cruise and fun. If i want to watch TV i could totally sit on my own sofa and watch it at home.If i will to rate the new reno, it would be 2 out of 10.Seems like have to switch camp to TMC

JWesley
Yes, I totally agree. Shogun version 3 is the worst so far.The maze is totally missing! There is just this short corridor (+ a couple of bigger dark rooms) where everyone gathers. Its nice to have an outdoor area but this is really overdoing it. So big for what?? Waste alot of valuable space where it could be created as a mega maze. I read a previous post about it being like a Thai resort so I really had high expectations of it. Sorry guys, u better dump that idea of it being a "resort", it is FAR from it, more like a poor cousin of east coast chalet.I will rather pay the current price for the previous Shogun. Definitely not going back again - Keybox, Ten M is better in my opinion.I agree. Very disappointed by the glory hole. The old ones are better. Not exactly but just want to potray a fairer pictureYes, we need to be fair & objective - professionally & personally. That's how we evolved & established our credibility.I used to trash Shogun especially when it was at telok ayer & hk street. It used to be so horrible & the set-up so ah beng. But Shogun boss is learning the trade & acquiring better taste in aesthetics & design.& you are right in your observation. The owner does not have a bad heart though he comes across as a $7.80 I guess others are threatened by the presence of Shogun in Chinatown, therefore the ^&*(&^.
