Discussion of Going Topless / Shirtless In Public + Ideas Or Reasons For Doing It? (Compiled)

Out of respect for a woman tenant and her bf, i wouldn't go shirtless inside my flat.  But if she was out over the weekends, I will do so at liberty.  Same goes for my neighbour.  Shirtless or not, really depends on where you are at that point in time.

I'm topless hanging laundry at the corridor, cleaning living room window, watering plants, dispose rubbish. I guess Iwill try to open letyer box downstairs shirtless. Maybe I should take the stairs instead if the lift!

Think for guys to go shirtless at home is quite common and neighbour dun usually cares.

Me n my dad, we r shirtless at home and go out to the corridor to water the plants in tat manner too. My neighbour uncle with his 2 sons also have this habit and u can see them burning Joss paper at the corridor in their shorts.

I do see guys at my opposite block smoking at their corridor in just their shorts too

I go shirtless if its late..like after midnight..most times i am also shirtless after jog, just in my running tights as sweat would be dripping down my chest.

I must admit, i enjoy the stares people gave me especially the ladies.

Guilty for doing this as well. Used to do it for convenience. Didn't see the point of wearing a shirt out to exercise when you don't wear one at home.

But after a while I think I kind of like the attention. People not only stare but also complement your physique. Feels good. So yeah love to run shirtless and be shirtless in public.

But times have changed. 10-15 years ago you could even see guys topless in shops and in public but now it's only acceptable if your exercising or part of some event. Times have changed.

How true ...times have changed... those times... going shirtless was to feel more cooling and be more comfy ... however in today's society, people's perception have evolved into going shirtless = exhibiting the male body.

It seems that guys who are muscular or have nice defined bod seems more acceptable to be seen shirtless in public otherwise u will be complained if u dun haha

You are right, times have changed. Being topless in public area is no longer common, especially if you are not exercising. Even nowadays also seldom see guys topless while exercising or playing sports. Last time even you can see workers topless in construction site, erecting tenage or even making delivery at supermarket, but now no more.

But topless sight still common in some countries like hong kong. You can easily spotted workers topless along the street.

Yes I wonder what happened. Perhaps being shirtless in public means you are low class now. It sounds stupid but that's how it is.

I remember the times when I was a kid when after school would rush back home change into some shorts and shoes and go down and play soccer. After that go coffee shop and have drinks. Everyone would be shirtless and felt so normal.

Now the only time I'm topless is at home or when I go running, exercising. This is why I like going overseas sometimes to other Asian countries.

Places like Vietnam and Cambodia you can even train shirtless in the gym. It's actually the norm and it's expected of guys. Such a culture difference. Even in Malaysia Ive seen guys train shirtless in the gym. I think it's just singapore that's too conservative.

How come singapore now become conservative? Like you said, last time everyone would be shirtless and felt so normal? In the 90s, i still remember my neighbor who was in upper secondary back then, always went to the nearby food centre and supermarket buy things shirtless. But now if you do this, you would be stomp or get funny and disgusted look from people.

People are becoming more aware of the damage of UV ray and that over exposure to the sun could cause premature aging and skin cancer.  Also, today every home has a washing machine and people doesn't mind washing  more clothes.

I think it may also have something to do with dri-fit clothing becoming more commonplace. The fabric is light and wicks perspiration away. Normal cotton tees are less comfy in our humid weather, and if that had remained the only option, then you may still see more guys going shirtless.

If you do not want you others people to see you as some pervert guy, better don't anyhow go topless in public places.

Taking off your shirt in public doesn't make you a pervert. Taking your pants off does.

There are guys like myself who exercise in public topless. Doesn't make us perverts.

I usually wear those in the gym but I've tried wearing the dri fit shirts while running but I don't like it as much. I prefer to go bare body. I guess it's just a old habit.

In current context, people would view you as prevert when you topless in public, especially when there are children and women around. Some of them might feel offended. Even though it is not really illegal to be topless in public.

Since when did Singapore become so puritanical? This is nothing different from telling women not to wear this or that.

Being labeled a pervert for being top less in public seems really ridiculous. I mean its not like we're rubbing our bodies sexually and seducing everyone to come have sex with us...this is nuts man.

If children and women are going to be offended by a topless man, then very soon they are going to make it mandatory for men to wear shirts even at beaches and swimming pools.

Exactly my point. We are slowly integrating into a society that dictates what we should or shouldn't do and this small ways are just another way to control us.

Swimming pool and beach is different, many people also topless there. But imagine a guy is topless at playground or park at heartlander, some people see might feel uncomfortable.

Went for a run near my house park connector area around 11.30 till 1pm. Saw about 10 shirtless guys.

Two Chinese guys on cycles. One young muscled and the other older mature. One silver haired muscular mature running fast. Muscular young Indian guy  and another lean fit Chinese guy running together.

Two older Chinese fit uncle types running. One malay young muscle fit cooling down after run at fitness corner. After he left saw two other Chinese guys. One older stocky another older fit muscled both working out at fitness corner.

Looking forward to my hot days so more guys will strip their shirts off and release their inhibitions. :)

Serangoon park connector. Along upper serangoon road. I was surprised as there aren't usually that many shirtless runners. I guess the hot temp contributed to the stripping. Looking forward to next week's run.

Went for run in the park in the afternoon and saw four shirtless guy. One young guy was riding the bicycle. Probably left house shirtless. One of the runner did not have any shirt with him. Probably he left house shirtless.  Running in the sunny and hot weather with shirt is warm, so the guys run shirtless.

If you get turned on by shirtless jogging, but isn't up to it yet, you can "experiment" using some video games.

Lots of games allow you to go shirtless. Without the risk!

I've seen my neighbor throw rubbish in boxer brief is that consider public?

I think that's quite normal since a lot of guys just wear underwear at home and it's just troublesome to put on some shorts just to throw rubbish.  I've even seen neighbors throw rubbish in theit tiny briefs even. Lol.

Cannot beat the time when I saw a guy running in East coast park wearing only swimming trunks the brief kind. He had shoes and even sunglasses on. Just no clothes. Haha.

Not sure but must admire his confidence to wear so little in such a public place. The trunks barely covered his crotch. It was very skimpy.

Must have given everyone quite a show that day.

Where was this traffic light? Nearby park? If it's not, these guys are quite confident to show their bodies off like that. Kudos to them.

Go topless after run your tshirt already wet with sweat, you would feel cold putting on that wet tshirt. Would prefer to run topless from start before the tshirt got wet.
