Anyone is planning to run topless at the canal leading from Ghim Moh to Clementi? I do that from time to time. I rarely see shirtless runners there, though I see lots of guys with lean toned bod running in tank top.

i was jogging in HK happy valley stadium a few days ago in the morning and it was 11 degrees. One rather old looking guy, mid 40s, but very stocky muscular, was jogging shirtless and with shorts.

I only run topless around my neighbourhood when there isn't much human traffic - I once witnessed a guy running topless on a weekend in front of 313 Somerset- if that isn't show-off, then I don't know what it is.

On weekend mornings when I do my long runs along East Coast, the shirt will only come off at areas where it's less crowded (after Outward Bound Singapore / National Sailing Centre).

One great track I've discovered running (whether topless or not) is the path after the Lorong Halus Wetland bridge. The yet-to-be-opened stretch leads all the way to Punggol Jetty and beyond.

But I digress. My point is that any guy should be able to run shirtless, regardless whether he has the body to flaunt, but spare the high-traffic areas. Because no matter how prominent your 6/8/10 pac is, most people would prefer that you keep them to yourself.

Unless you're one of the Abercrombie and Fitch boys.

Why r u running topless at 11 deg? I think pple might thought tht u are "crazy"?! Unless the temp is ard 20 deg, maybe can. I saw before in hk, temp ard 20 deg, pple running in shorts and tank top along victoria park.

I also saw b4 guy running topless on a weekend along orchard rd! But usually the guy's bod quite toned and fit looking la, dun think a guy with skinny bod or very fat bod wld run topless along orchard rd.

Quite agreed tht any guy should be able to run shirtless, regardless whether he has the body to flaunt, but spare the high-traffic areas. I also think even u have the bod to flaunt, sometimes if the area u r running human traffic too high, maybe better to keep a top on. Esp the area which is not meant for sports.

Was around the Gombak stadium and Bukit Batok Nature Park area. I'd carry on running if I were caught in the rain. After all, I'm already all wet with sweat - only the shoes need a lot more time get dry after collecting rain water.

Macritchie IS a fantastic place to run shirtless.

just wanted to check. i recently moved to singapore for a while. im used to jogging topless in tights. just wanted to find out where it is acceptable for me to run topless and what times. Is it appropriate to wear tights or must i wear shorts. I'm 1.8m, 76kg, muscular frame. i believe singapore is conservative. don't want to offend anyone.

1. Where do you stay?

2. Jogging topless should be acceptable at places such as East Coast Park, Bedok Reservoir, and secluded parks during non-peak hours (ie. avoid the weekends). Avoid running topless in HDB estates.

Becoz more easily to sweat rite?

Rite, when i sweat more when i run, it makes me feel better. If too windy, somehow it slow me down. But weather too hot also no gd to run, esp under the hot sun.

Agreed, if u like to run topless, try to run at places where topless running is common, like ECP. If runnng at heartlander, try to run non-peak hrs, esp those park located just next to HDB flats. Somehow it is not very nice to run topless where all the familes and children running ard the park.

I think it is also ok to run topless along main rd in heartlander area, but dun try to run topless in town area.

I live in the east are, but i would need to take transport to get to the places mentioned. unless i go for long distance running. however, i might need to pass hdb apartment blocks to get there.

what are the non-peak hours like? i usually run when the sun is bright and hot. like to work on a tan at the same time. would i be stopped if i run at the heartlander parks topless for indecent exposure or something? i usually run on the weekends. i hear macritchie reservoir has a good trail to run on. is it ok to run topless there?

so i'm guessing its only advisable to run topless at the beach? is topless running a common practice in singapore? i dont see as much topless runners around in comparison to back home. is topless running allowed during NS? im currently doing my NS here. i have seen guys running topless in camp and even gymming topless. is it a different situation outside as compared to inside camp?

Like mentioned before, macritchie reservoir is one of the gd place to run as there is a gd trail to run on, and also running topless there is quite common.

I have notice tht topless running is becoming less and less common in sg, i also dun know wht is the reason behind. Even in army, heard nowadays u seldom see running training is done topless. Unlike last time topless running in army is very common, almost everyone default run topless.

U wld not be stopped if u run topless in heartlander, unless ur running shorts is too short until u expose ur dick, if not dun think u will stopped for indecent exposure. It is just tht if u run topless in a heartlander park, as there are no guys running topless, u will become a bit out of place.

ERP doesn't apply to shirtless running... ;)

I've run shirtless at all times of the day before, although now I prefer to run in the early morinings when I don't need to breathe in too much traffic exhaust fumes. You can run anywhere anytime you wish without a shirt, as long as you are comfortable with it. Orchard Road in the evening? Sure, if you want to.

Running shirtless isn't indecent exposure. Apart from shirtless runners, I've seen shirtless fruit sellers, shirtless cyclists, and shirtless men strolling amongst heartland flats. I've seen shirtless men play chess and chat next to police posts without incident.

The fewer shirtless people you encounter nowadays could be due to more preferring not to be seen shirtless than stricter enforcement against shirtlessness.

I agree with your first sentence. For the second sentence, as long as you are comfortable being the only one shirtless, you won't feel out of place. You will attract eyeballs, but that's about it. If you want to bare it, you can surely bear with it.

Hey beachboy26,

ECP is good for topless run.

Macritchie is ok too.

With the weather these days, you may want to avoid MacRitchie unless you don't mind having a mud-bath or worse, trap inside with heavy rain.

Do not be afraid of being "out of place". As long as it is within the limits of our law, go right ahead and do it. If you are stopped by the police, ignore them. They cannot do anything to you. If they do overstep their jurisdiction, tell us all here. We will stand by you. Singapore is now experiencing the winds of change. Many problems are cropping up every day. I doubt running topless is at the top of the QX's list of things to catch.

It's perfectly alright to run topless in the heartlands at any time of the day. No one isn't going to stop you just because you're clad only in running shorts. I usually head down topless from my flat for my night runs, and there've not been any complaints. The local authorities will not book you either (for running topless in tights), unless your actions constitute indecent behaviour to the general public.

It's a relatively common sight to see guys running topless at places such as the MacRitchie Reservoir and East Coast Park. No one isn't going to book you just because you run topless in your NSF unit before or after office hours.

Above all, what matters is that you're comfortable with your body and enjoy your runs. Cheers! :thumb:
