Exynos
this whole topic is so retarded.look, there's no point in us (looking by the trend of the posts here)1) bashing other countries (they're not as good as they are blah blah)2) bashing our own people (yep Singaporeans are REALLY ugly)because the thing is, however you look is one thing. and if you allow yourself to get affected by other people's judgements on something that is so personal & so "you", then you're not living correctly gstc82
raind
raind: thank u for attempting to correct me. Yes ppl from Punjab r called punjabis. Let me enlighten u. The reason y I referred to Pekinese was becos during the 40s-80s, Beijing was known as Peking in the english language. So obviously, ppl from dat region were known as pekinese. Unfortunately, for some obvious sinister reasons, the english scholars decided to called a breed of dogs from dat region as Pekinese, as well. As chinese we were brought up to respect others, so when I refer to dat breed of dogs, I'll call them as pekinese dogs. It's a fact dat the world is made up of different types of ppl, it's disrespectful to insult indiscriminately. To the singapore guy who called his S'pore a prawn nation, I'm so proud of u. Btw, what made u think the guy u were shagging was not having the same sentiments? hi david, yes, totally aware of the background of Beijing and Peking. Quite well versed in Chinese history myself.. heh heh... just that i found it rather amusing that you refer to Peking people as pekinese as it reminded me of dogs. And yes, i stand corrected also. Did a google and realized that Peking people are called "Pekinger" (there is even a book written on it! - Pekinger in New York). As for the breed of dog, managed to find "Pekingese" and not Pekinese...:-)
TheVisitors
Another scenario of 'my friend says', wats impt is, wat r u? R u good-looking or ugly? Do u agree ur S'porean face is contributing to the ugliness?By many scientific standards, the asian face does not make the cut. The colonial west were shocked by the different facial features of the asians. Somewhere along the line, ppl like to use genes n their ancestry to put down others. For instance ppl from Beijing will look down on ppl fron Shanghai. If the Shanghainess hv such good bones, they won't need the flourishing aesthetic industry to correct their features, do they? Or is this a case of insecurity?Does dat mean a flat southern face is not beautiful? As an asian, do we need to b indoctrinated to think dat a flat nose is ugly? R we so insecure to think only a sharp nose n big eyes make a beautiful face?Do we need to align our faces to the perfect symmetry to validate our looks? As for procreation, our forefathers were from all over China, India, Malaysia, n other parts of Asia. There were Shanghainess, Pekinese, Cantonese, Punjab, Southern Indians, etc... amongst them. They migrated to the south ie S'pore during the wars n hard-times. Only the resourceful ones ran away from their troubled countries. Inter-marriage is very common in S'pore!!I believe nobody has the right to call someone ugly, maybe he's jus not ur ur idea of beauty. A 'good' plastic surgeon will not drastically change the features of a client to make him /her into the perfect face.Even someone not blessed with the perfectly symmetrical face can look attractive, with the right hairstyle, appropriate clothes, good hygiene, etc. Someone who is able to accept others who r different from themselves, r definitely more pleasant looking than those who goes around saying this or dat person is ugly.Insecurity breeds a unhappy person.Think about it, an unhappy person will not think of themselves as beautiful, not to mention others.Cheerios....happy holidays. Thanks for a long list of a boring history lesson. And I sincerely hope you are not a history teacher, or else into the gas chamber I will send you to !Now, dude, have you ever travel and experience the gay culture and even guys from the other side of the globe, besides our little island?Have you ever attended any huge gay event attended by 6000 or more people from Taiwan, HongKong Singaporeans or China?Being to their parties? Drink their booze and get drunk?Rub shoulders with some their celebrities or models, and have some FUN there before?Have you ever attended dance event, club hopping and dancing from 8pm till next day afternoon tll 2pm overseas before ?Besides Sentosa and Puala Tekong, have you and did you ever travelled before ?If you have, then we can talk. or else, please dont bore some of us who have done that before, with your textbooks....To some of you here, I was laughing at someone here, who actually can conclude from a little dance floor like Zirca, that Singaporean guys are good looking, as compared with the Chinese counterparts else where.Another case of the little frog in the wallMy question here is, how could you conclude and or determine the whole Prawn Label is a myth, unless you have travelled and experience enough to gauge, compare and conclude ?The other funny part is, even if Singaporeans are labelled as Prawns, this doesn't mean you are ugly, but it is just that you just don't have the interesting or any outstanding features, nor the charisma that distinguish you from others. Therefore Prawns doesn't equate being ugly or being grotesque.Basically, most people being overreactive to such a term , would stretch this word beyond its intended meaning , and then interpreted it with their over sensitivities and anger, by adding some much their own spices, without calmness or logicI will still make my stand. Most Singaporean guys do not have any interesting features, and are mostly categorized as average. And no, when I attend those functions, many guys thought I was a Thai Chinese.Hate me all you want but I still make my stand on this ground. However I would still defend any uncalled for remarks or unjustified insults should they criticize about Singapore or Singaporeans based on unfounded facts.Looks not everything because it has its limits and time spanIts is your self confident, wisdom and wide world knowledge learned, and your emotional intelligence that attract people to you.Amd I am a sucker for such guys ! They cling on to someone famous n enjoy the benefits w/out paying.I always see types like these around (not jus Zouk, who goes there these days?) n it's so embarassing if they r S'poreans.Oh yes, normally they will get high on free alcohol (drugs?) n dance topless on the podiums. Read and understand carefully.Singaporean Guys are average looking but we didnt call ourselves prawns. This label did not originate form here, but from else where.Because, most local guys, who don't travel much will still think they are good looking .Until they travel and step a foot out of this island ,then they will learn they are not the best looking , as they would like to think themselves to be.Its like a little frog who finally comes out from the well. However, most of the locals, are too narrow minded and too arrogant to admit that they are not the best, when comment by others. They retort with rude remarks. Let them be. I really dont bother.Lobsters are so much more expensive than prawns, but that doesn't make they better looking than the latter.Try the Alsakan Crabs, still, no difference. Its already 2012, and for God sake, stop asking stupid questions and grow abit more, intelligent? Will you ? Their replies were very positive as they agreed tat most Singaporean guys have great body and tanned skin. They like our sunshine look and command of English. Even in saunas, I hv seen many local guys cruised Singaporean. Few of them couldn't differentiate singaporean and HKees, of cos as a singaporean I could tell the difference. In general , the east asians hv sharper features and better complexion. But there are many of them like our features and physiques too. I hv a hk friend who only cruised singaporean as he prefer our styles of dealing things and rugged look. I already consider myself quite fair. But most Japanese are fairer, in fact too fair that I consider that to be unhealthy pale. Most of them agree too and some would pay to tan. Some like our healthy and fit look. But I notice that most young gay Japanese men are chubby and like to think of themselves as Gmen. I am afraid that before too long they will start to look like those westerners where chubby and big tummy is the norm. This is unhealthy as the rocketing medical costs of the west shows why. When I took a train ride on Seoul's metro (for a total of 10 days daily, and on multiple trips per day), every train carriage I entered or walked through had male passengers who would beat our local newspaper models flat. With their lean body, clean-cut and pimple/acne-scarred free faces, and a fashion sense that is coordinated, trendy and modern, yet understated, we are a damned nation of prawns.Oh yeah, everyone knows that the BKK Katoeys look way more classy and sexier than our Singapore females anytime (until they open their mouths to speak). So much for ethnic mixes and inter-breeding... SeannyShortcake
Don't need to keep hammering this topic one.If they really think Singaporean men are ugly, they can either move to another country or keep to finding imported goods. There are many Singaporean men who enjoy the company of similiar men and definitely many foreigners loving us all the same. Guest CB
I am singaporean and my taiwanese friend said the same. But the difference is he used real evidence to point out to me when he was here in singapore. He asked me to look carefully at singaporean's faces, young or old, men or women to notice the following features: 1. Typical Singaporeans face got "no chin" - means that the chin is usuallu slopping inwards or a very tiny piece of flesh hanging after the mouth. 2. Typical Singaporean face also got "no nose" - means that it is usually a lump of "garlic" at the end of a low bridged nose. Even with a high nose, it is usually not well formed and with a short termination at the nose tip. My Taiwanese friend asked me to look around for evidence and first time i realised that there are really many typical singaporeans faces that look like those described above! Especially thos I saw in gay sauna who have such faces and with a muscular body. They called them "prawns" - no cchin and no nose !! Hello, I think you must have got a nice "chin, and at the same time, a very nice chee-bye mouth as well.
