Okay, I know this is embarrassing le haha. Its very retro, however, I think I enjoyed this sad song, its simple and meaningful.

Did anyone watched the original 《搭错车》(Papa, can you hear me sing?)

I never watched it before, but from the MV can roughly tell what is happening.

Prepare lots of tissue, guys. No? -__-;

Omg, I love

Wait, I only know one song from her haha.

She looked amazing even in her golden age.

Her concert is amazing !

Thx angel_dust :) !

You're welcome. Many more to be discovered.

My choice of Chinese songs will cause raised eyebrows, so brace yourself.

The first brooding song encompasses the entire spectrum of human emotions that one can possibly experience in life at one time or other - love, longing, melancholy, despair, hope, anger, bliss, depression, and so forth.

In similar vein, the second song encapsulates such agonising emotions that the listener one cannot help being moved.

If the links do not embed, please view in youtube. Anyway there are only still pictures of the singers.

Caveat: I do not know the Chinese language so the lyrics of the songs may not tie in with those expressed emotions.

Humans are such emotional beings.

At this stage of life when I am old enough, I cannot but help reminiscing the past.

No, not my glory days (if any) but the music that I grew up with.

Sometimes, I have to tell myself not to discriminate current music trends.

Just like wine, music gets better with age.

The melodious voices of Cai Qin, Pan Yue Yun and Qi Yu were the constant companion throughout the lonely nights.

From young, I have been immersed in all genres of music as my neighbour sold records, yes vinyl from the good old days.

From Taiwan singers to those from Hong kong, it was a FREE radio station.

That's where I picked up my Mandarin and several Chinese dialects.

Rock Records together with WEA were 2 very successful recording labels of the late 80s/early 90s eras, after EMI Chinese section closed down.

Polydor/Polygram was popular too.

Singers like Emil Chau, Sarah Chen, Tracy Huang reached their peak during these times.  Buying CDs was one of the weekly activities of many, me included.  As a young working adult, it was great hunting for the latest releases.  The songs written during this era remains steadfast and constantly received airplay now.

By 1997 the year of the Hong Kong Handover and the Asian Economic Crisis, everything went downhill.  MP3 surfaced during that time.  I remembered going into JB to buy pirated copies of obscure songs... yes, I know it was illegal but to have 150 songs packed into 1 CD was just too great a temptation.  One that should out was a collection of songs from the 60s - 顾媚的山歌, 静婷的明日之歌, 寂寞。。。I could not find the original CDs anymore but to find it on these bootlegs .... I was overjoyed!

3 versions: The 1966 original, the horrible rendition by Echo and my all-time favourite singer's rendition.

This was the actual movie footage from 明日之歌

Is it her plastic surgery or what?

Why is Echo having a smiling face singing this sad song?

Cai Qin was at her peak when she released this album in the mid-80s.

She alternates an album with new songs and another with old ones.

There were actually 2 老歌 albums...

I am not ashamed to say this but I have the vinyl/records of both albums.

I just need a good turntable now.

This was a tribute to 姚敏, 作曲家 who died in 1967.

情人的眼泪 was played continuously during his memorial service.

Another long forgotten classic.
