Advice On Male Skin Care - Acne Product / Body Lotion / Moisturizer / Face Wash (Compiled)

just some parts are hairy (armpits and crotch area).. i actually eat a lot, and so far weight gain is a problem, hahaha

Those areas are meant to be hairy. Like CVBV said, just trim, or shave or wax. Whatever makes you feel more comfortable with your body.

i dont'really know which body care products to use coz there are so many, and not cheap.. tried some before and didnt really help much..

You don't say how old you are, but if you're no longer a teenager, use gentler products. Adult acne is different from teenage acne in that the skin is much more sensitive. I have body acne as well, and for years tried many things. This year, I started using Johnson's pH 5.5 body wash, and the acne started to clear up. I have scars, of course, but the acne has almost completely cleared up. When I do get the ocassional breakout, I apply a high-grade 4% benzoyl peroxide cream.

You should also get a good AHA or BHA cream with at least 2% and apply before bed, followed by aloe vera gel to moisturise. Fruit of the Earth is a good brand, as it also contains Vitamin E which will speed up healing and fading of scars.

If you're under 21, your skin can tolerate harsher treatments, but ultimately keeping the skin healthy through pH balance, gentle cleaning and moisture usually helps more than tons of medicated stuff.

lol, my metabolism is superfast i guess

The idea of skinny people having a faster metabolism than heavier people is a myth. It's usually the opposite actually. We usually think we eat a lot, us skinny people, but probably not enough still. I still haven't had success gaining much weight, but am aware that as much as I eat, it's still less than what the average person does.

shave and trim!!! it's not that hard really... just takes about 2 min in the shower, haha. if you're worried about it being prickly and stuff, don't worry after a week or so your skin'll get used to it and you won't feel a thing!! well that was how it was for me at least...

for body acne, apart from using medicated treatments (maybe you can try the T3 body acne shower gel? you can find it at watson's/guardian), change your shirts regularly, if you sweat in a shirt, don't wear it again until you wash it! changing bedsheets regularly is important too! the bacteria stays there once you sweat, so if you keep sleeping on it... yeah! so the best is to just wear a comfy shirt to sleep, and change it once every 1-2 days :)

and... drink a lot of water! and take lots of fruits!! like oranges and stuff, so your heatiness goes down :)

Use raw unheated honey for cleansing and shaving, weekly mask mixed with a few drops of unchlorinated water. Exfoliate with fresh dry cotton towel. Moisturize with coconut oil.

Buy these in any supermarket, no chemicals, all natural, non toxic, CHEAP and if you don't like it, use it up for cooking!

Please trim your armpit and groin hair regularly. Also, consult a dermatologist regarding your acne problem. If you have severe acne problem, then avoid going to the swimming pool till your problem is resolved so that you won't have to experience people staring at you. :(

For acne, I highly recommends organic skin care. It was only after I made the switch that my skin cleared up tremendously. I also make an effort to shave and keep my hair in check. So now the only thing left for me is to stop being skinny like a bag of bones

Be careful when taking antibiotics for ache problems. Based on my personal experiences, it works wonders at the beginning, fast & convenient. Problem is, once the body got used to it, you have to increase the dosage to see the effect. And after a while, there is no end & it will lost the effect completely.

Any of you use My Beauty Diary 我的美丽日记 or My Scheming Face Masks 我的心机面膜?

Do you get them from Guardian, Sasa or Sunnanz?

What are your favourites?

I used to order a variety of both types of masks from Sunnanz, but I stopped since they started charging S$2.50 for orders less than S$50.

Now I stock up from Sasa, especially when they run a S$1.95 + S$1 sale for 2 masks (currently ongoing).

My favourites are lavender, sakura, anything pore refining, and the deep sea ocean ones.

The black pearl one from My Beauty Diary is also really good in whitening the skin!

I agree with what someone said a few pages ago... Hydration (ie drinking lots of plain water) helps. Had a very bad breakout once and someone told me its because of the way I handled stress (comfort food = high in sugar = promotes inflammation). So drank a lot of water and it cleared.

Also together with Niks products and some from Kiehl... I must say this regime has been fantastic... (Crosses fingers)

yup i agree. the body grow resistant. and honestly... medication destroy a lot of things while claiming to do its wonders. yes acne stopped while taking the medication but other problems arose. dry skin. etc.

really should consider natural remedies. and see what suits you best. the video helped with my break outs. but for hot periods like right now, please make sure you keep yourself hydrated. that is really the best.

you'll be surprised what a short course of oral meds (antibiotics or isotretinoin) can do.
Agree on that. Isotretinoin helped me a lot. Like, really A LOT.

But have to take care of the side effects. (:

true. I tried all sorts of antibiotics that NSC offers but all come to no avail.. My acne kept coming and its very embarrassing and causes scarring.. I decided to approach prvt clinic and the doc gave me isotretinoin and the persistent severe acne stopped and remains under control now. Just regret that I didn't seek help earlier, now there's scars and all, even though acne is more or less gone, the scars are terrible and still decreases my confidence level.

however, that medication have several side effects and may affect your liver, therefore blood tests must be done everytime the doc prescribe a new dose of medication to check for your liver function

Some recommendations here from friends, to those who are afraid of strong western medication, but wants to seek a more organic and Ayrudevic

approach to relieve your acne problem.

The Himalaya Clarina anti-acne cream and the Himalaya Acne-Pimple Cream.

Both are herbal.

Both products are from Indian, and under the Himlaya range, they do sell hair products in Watsons here but very pricey. Because while you can get a bottle of 400ml shampoo in India for $4.00, they sell here for $28.

I don't know if these two creams are sold here, but in India, it is $1.00 per tube !!!

Or Proactive from States

Spokesmen includes Kathy Perry, Jessica Simpsons, Avril Lavigne and Justin Bieber, and bye bye so far farewell Lindsay Lohan !

For the nipples part, it can't be help, so just take time and learn to accept you for who you are. As for your hair, just shave the necessary area as part of the hygiene purposes, not a big deal to make a change right?

As for acne, I recommend Differin for black/ white heads to be applied every night. And T3 acne cream to be applied during the day. Also, you should try some neutral pH body wash for your body acne, I recommend Hospigel or Clearisil acne body wash.

If you want a change, you gotta do something. Good luck!

Simple, but not simple-minded.

I heard that if you cum too much (like everyday ejaculate) you will increase hormonal level and in turn actually increase acne problems....no wonder my face look like shit >.<

Then how come massage boys and sex workers can have nice skin?

Come on, this is a myth.

I had kind of a bad acne problem when I was in early 20s.

Then I was told that perhaps I scrub my face too hard with the towel.

And I should not use my hands to wipe my face when I apply the facial foam.

Instead I should splash the water.

Somehow it works for me.

The NSC is conducting test to see if its the genes that is causing the acne problem in people. they approached me for the test when i was back to get the medication and i donated blood to them to do the test. im intrigue to find out as well and also it may help others who are suffering the same past as me, if the result of the research is positive. A direct cure can only be implemented when they find the cause of it.

Guest hates acne

I have tried antibiotics accutane however acne just keeps coming back due to oily skin. Try vitamin b5.at.GNC taking it in large doses control the oil production and.reduces acne :) working well for me so far.

One thing that I realized from personal observation, that if you have oily skin, you will benefit a lot from not touching it frequently. Touching includes commercial products like oil blotters (cos I have this belief that you are just pressing and pressing the dirt on your face into the sebeceous pores, hastening the formation of acne). I think if your face becomes too oily, you should go to the toilet and wash your face with proper cleanser.

As for the cumming = more acne bit, I really don't know :S

100% pure Aloe Vera gel. I swear by it. If you're looking for a good brand for that, I suggest Sukin. Available at Watsons.

I only found the body wash and body for sukin . Is that what you're referring to ?

I think you found the right brand but not the right products. Which Watsons did you try? It's a hit and miss. The only Watsons I know has it is at HDB Hub and City Square Mall Four Seasons Organic Market.

You can search for places that Stock their brand. It's a bit outdated though but it's worth a try. I presume you live in Pasir Ris? The Watsons there is quite small right?

  • 1 month later...

I had pimple outbreak when i was in command school. After six days of wearing camo cream, clogs up the pores and i thought hey why dont i wash my face with soap. From pimples to acne. I resorted to couple of skin care products to get rid of it. Doesnt work. So eventually gave up and rinse my face with just water. Strangely enough the outbreak started to grow lesser. Guess my skin was super sensitive to certain products and i let nature run it course.

But best to seek a dermatologist. Hope it helps.

Cheers

Blu
