I assumed that Benny just confessed out of anger from Eileen but didnt really do it. Also at the end, Cassie said that Fred was innocent and straight as hell. Benny was disappointed that Eileen rather believe Adam's word that he had sex with Fred and chose not to believe Benny himself. Thus, Benny didnt wanna marry Eileen and Eileen was trying very hard to get Benny back. That's what i got. Not sure if its correct. but anybody has other views? =xWhat I saw was different:It was not Cassie but rather Adam who said over the phone that Fred was straight as an arrow. But when Adam said this, he could be intentionally lying about Fred so that it is easier for him to get his editor to agree for him to abort writing that article. Adam changed his mind because he realised that it is Adam himself, and not Fred, that caused Gary to commit suicide. Adam perhaps was convinced that Gary died because of the rejection by Adam when Adam discovered that Gary was gay. Gary and Adam are brothers (for those who have not watched the play).
