This weekend will be a fireworks outing, est meet time at 6.00pm (coz we need to "book" the spots) on Saturday.

As usual, only if you are keen, and able to join, then PM me your details (name+mobile).

Please take note that this round is not a beginners' outing.  Tripod is necessary, bring your own drinking water and snacks, as we can expect a long wait, even though we may get to snap other things around us in the interim.

Please note that today's fireworks outing is CLOSED as we are full with all 4 pax.  Thank you for the support.

Saturday will be another, though it will be from a different vantage point.  Timing for Sat 23rd Jul will be 5:30pm, and it ends around 8.40pm.

@MeowPrince Am presently using a Canon IXUS compact camera and planning to buy a DSLR camera.

Am undecided between Canon and Nikon. For your advice, please. Thank you.

Haha.  Just visit a camera shop (ideally with a trusted friend) and ask to try both.  Get the one that feels most comfy in your hands, the one that you prefer handling and where the buttons feel more intuitive to you.  And equally important, the one that fits within your budget.

Contrary to the claims of fanboys of both brands, a DSLR of either brand is the same.  They both come with a confusing array of lenses (another thing to learn once you go down this path), they both come with different crop factors (which really has NO bearing on enthusiasts), they both come in similar price ranges of cheap-to-expensive.  The same can be said of mirrorless, where the choices of brands become even more messy.  So, if your sights are on a DSLR, go pick up a Nikon and a Canon of the same price range and cop a feel on each, and make your decision based on that.  97% of users are general users.  So marginal strengths of one brand over another in professional portraits or in long-range birding or in ultra-wide landscapes or in zoomed-in sports photography etc won't matter to you (or to the rest of those 97%).  Even for the real professionals, we'd just pick the tool suited for that genre we need to shoot.

Also, you can rent the 1 that you are interested, try it out like what meowprince said.  You can check it out over here; http://sg.camerarental.biz/ .
