It certainly took a long time for 'We Are Young' to climb to no. 1 in UK.

Why was it released so late?

It was no.1 in US some weeks ago.

I like The Wanted...they are so boy-band-ish.

Picking up the pieces - nice. Hopefully it'll hit the top 5.

This is the new single by London electronic music duo and production team, Simian Mobile Disco...

Put Your Hands Together - Simian Mobile Disco

...which for a moment I thought they are this other Manchester electronic rock band, Simian,

who were big in 2006 with this single partnering the French electrohouse outfit Justice!

We Are Your Friends - Justice Vs Simian

Hit Factory Live, which takes place on July 11 in London’s Hyde Park,
was put together to celebrate the 25th anniversary of producer Pete Waterman’s PWL record label.

It's confirmed that Kylie Minogue will be performing the unforgettable duet Especially For You with Jason Donovan,
and it will be the first time the pair have performed the track together in almost 23 years!!!

In its heyday, SAW was immensely popular and profitable though some might say their music is kinda simple.

Too bad, Mel & Kim and Donna Summer will be missed.

Used to swoon over Jason Donovan. :-)

More Hi-NRG S/A/W productions, something Divine, Dead or Alive?

Was surfing and revisited Brit's X-Factor.

Not sure if anyone remembers this clip of Shirlena Johnson.

She's crazy fun doing her own version of Duffy's Mercy.

She actually has recorded a song called Break the chains.

It sounds nice in a weird way.

This time round it's made popular by a finalist of The Voice UK as result of the release of the finalists’ compilation album...

Higher Love - Tyler James (#30 in the mid-week singles chart)

This Steve Winwood's cover version has been hanging around inside the UK Top 100 for a while now.
This week, it finally leaps into the Top 40, coming in at #21...

Higher Love - James Vincent McMorrow

Its popularity could be due to it being used as the soundtrack for television advertisements by LOVEFiLM,
a UK-based provider of home video and video game rental.

Hey Glowingember, here's the new release from Stooshe for you...

Black Heart - Stooshe

Now something fun & current from another UK three-piece girl-band,

teaming up with Gym Class Heroes frontman Travie McCoy...

Just bought Now 81 and heard

.

It was in 2011 Dec that it charted.

There's a bit of 60s swing to it which I like.

Now_81_Cover.jpg

If you like track #6 of disc 2,

I think you will also like the track below,

or track #12 on the same disc too...

Yup...the 2 tracks are similar in style.

:-) thanks for highlighting this track. I haven't reached Track 12 yet.

Somehow the group reminds me of Destiny's Child.

Ok another similar song is Diamond Rings which reached the top 10 in 2009.

It's Chipmunk feat Emeli Sande (among the three songs, this is my fave)

Thanks for the Stooshe and Jedward's new singles, Steppenwolf.

I'll look for both their CDs when I have the chance to go to HMV.

So far, Stooshe's singles have been the retro-Amy-Winehouse style. They are modernised in terms of looks and there are some hooks to their songs, though not as great as Winehouse's. Jedward can't sing well but I like their determination and eagerness to make it big. In addition, they are adorable.

thanks for sharing Ed Sheeran's Small Bump.

I've not heard of this song...a strange feeling when I listen to this song.

Don't know how to describe it.

Thought I'd share Shakespear's Sisters songs here...

Stay (Accoustic)

and not-so-popular

Hard to imagine Siobhan being so goth, as compared to the sunshine in Bananarama.

Thanks for the chart update.

I like Florence single and video. She has not been disappointing with her performance, videos and singles. Ethereal.

Hmmm... I've mixed feeling over Elton's new song. Not quite used to the new production but I guess it's a good direction.

Yayyy...Little Boots! This song is more accessible. She reminds me of a cross between Roisin Murphy and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Ok for me...I suddenly felt nostalgic over Texas.

Read from a live journal of a person running around the house when this song was on and when he finally found the source of the music, the song ends with Sharleen Spiteri echoing 'stop'.

Another gem for me is Insane

New releases to watch out for this week...

Hmmm... I've mixed feeling over Elton's new song. Not quite used to the new production but I guess it's a good direction.

Elton John vs Pnau are storming towards Number 1 according to today's Official Albums Chart Update.

Pnau is an Australian electronic duo who frontman is Nick Littlemore of the 2009 side project Empire Of The Sun.

We Are The People - Empire Of The Sun

Elton John reputedly signed the pair after being taken aback with their 2007 track Wild Strawberries,

Wild Strawberries - Pnau

...and now Elton’s original masters have been unlocked and reworked by the duo with added loops, samples and their own material too,

to create a revolutionary new collection of Elton-approved interpretations.

and it's racing up the charts as I type (currently at #9)...
