Was first broadcasted in 1992 in Hong Kong but I only managed to catch it when it started showing in Singapore 2-3 years later. This Classic, good vs evil, family rivalry saga is probably one of the best, or probably the best HK TV serial that I have ever seen. The good people suffered tremendously and it was years later before the anatagonists got what they deserved. But by then , too many sacrifices have been made. The ending is tragically symbolic and poignant. TVB no longer makes these kind of series nowadays which is a pity. Guest amidst_the_stars Posted March 10, 2011 Report Share Posted March 10, 2011 This series is probably most remembered for Adam Cheng's breakthrough role as Ding Hai, a pathologically self-righteous brute who unintentionally (and intentionally) caused the suffering and demise of many of the characters in the show. Or Lau Ching Wan's standout role as the eccentric, prodigous stockbroker-wannabe seeking to avenge his family, the yin to Adam Cheng's yang. Or remembered for Vivian Chow's innocent and pure character known to be extremely thrifty, and probably the most appealing to fanboys of during that time. But my favourite character is none other than Yammie Lam's Ling-Jeh. Her character is probably the most touching and tragic of them all. And Yammie Lam's acting was nothing short of brilliant and heartbreaking.
