"East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet." True?

No.  It is not true.  We all have an East and a West.  If our center is headed North, our right hand is to the East, and the left is to the West.   And hopefully...  one of our hands always knows what the other is doing...   And here on this thread, your beautiful "East" songs meet with my "West" ones.  :)

And here is a "West" song.  Songs don't need to have words,  the song of a bird does not have any.

Beethoven's sonata no. 3 op 31 is a very beautiful "song without words", worth being sung by a beautiful pianist.  And this is the reason I post this video.  I have rarely encountered a very talented pianist who is also so beautiful.  ( no big belly, not bald, not wrinkled,... no big boobs etc... )

AngMoh pianist George Harliono has a gorgeous face and figure, if not a pianist he could be a model!  DON'T MISS IT! ->

Nice song

There are many nice songs which are not produced by the human voice.  Some of the classical romantics are famous for the singing nature of their instrumental music. Schubert is one the most famous, listen to the singing of his Impromptu op 90 No. 3, for example.  Same case with Chopin, and Mendelssohn even composed his "Songs without words".

Guest Peter Lee

sidetrack, any recommendation for singing lessons for a really bad adult singer??? Prefer to learn to sing English songs first.

It is known that pianist composer Frederik Chopin loved the sound of the human voice, he was a fan of the "bel canto". And he succeeded in making the piano sing in his Nocturnes and other compositions.

Here is a recording of the song Casta Diva from Bellini's opera Norma, with the precious voice of Maria Callas.  And following her, at about 3:00,  is pianist Yunchan Lim playing Chopin's transcription of the song to piano.  I don't know what concert grand he played on,  but it's singing is as spectacular as that of the soprano! :)

Different from the Soprano,  the piano can sing the 24 hours of the day, even at 1AM, without breaks for breathing... 😄

Und du mein schatz bleibst hier (And you my darling will stay here)

Ohhh...  I didn't know that Elvis could sing in German !!!   I remember this song from early childhood,  my grandma used to sing it, and we children with her.   In German, of course.  THANKS!

Guest PARiS 2024

"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not winning but taking part; the essential thing in life is not conquering but fighting well." (Baron Pierre de Coubertin)

Paris last hosted the Summer Olympics in 1924. We cannot remember any of the music from that edition. However, the theme song of the 1981 movie about two athletes in the 1924 Paris Olympics still gives us the goosebumps.
