Ditto for those in other coutries, they can be curt, but never rude. I always believe that there is no smoke without fire.that's lucky for you... i travel a fair bit too and the rudest ones i've come across are the sgp ones. of course that could be because of statistics (since 50% of all the immigration staff that i've encountered are sgps, given that I start/end my trips here in sg).there was one i still remembered,,, it was an indian lady at the boarding gates. she had a real sour look on her face after i told her that she should be boarding people based on the row numbers, as announced; rather than allow any tom, dick or harry to board. I only stated "Hotel" in the immigration form but not the exact names of the hotels as I was firstly on a packaged tour and also will be staying in a few hotels in the different parts of Hokaido. However, the lady told me off rather rudely "U must know!". No offence BUT I think there is this SERIOUS problem with travellers all around the world - many REFUSE to write down all the information COMPLETELY. I have seen many times on airplanes, trains, buses & ferries where people are just PURE LAZY to write down everything that they SHOULD. The word 'address' seems like an alien word to many and they just write down 'Hotel' or worse - leave it blank.I personally encountered an incident where I was onboard a ferry plying from Macau to Hong Kong. I was told by a Hong Kong auntie that I don't need to fill up 'Address in Hong Kong' as it's unnecessary. I just ignored her because I don't want to take the risk of being delayed at the customs.As one of the members here have said - as long as you know the drills, you'll be safe.Why save that few seconds/minutes and take the risk? Just do what you ARE SUPPOSED to do. Fill in your arrival/departure cards dutifully and completely. Behave yourself and surrender all items at scanning checkpoints. It is nothing shocking. Very often, the more manly the guy is, the more likely he will be more promiscuous as he feels "safe" that nobody will suspect him to be one.
