i wanted to take a pic of this gorgeous cat at my area, but it wouldn't sit still for me to take a photo. It will always walk towards me when i go close.

generally female cats are more friendly and it wanna affection from humans while MALE cats will either hiss at us or RUN away

아! 저는 고양이를 참 사랑해요!! (Ah, I really love cats!!)

I can't own one as I have no time to care for them. But I really love cats more than dogs.

I will be most happy if I ever see a rainbow cat like this:

completely_rainbow_cat_by_bluemoongem-d2ylxx6.jpg

The rainbow effect is made by photoshop / camera's effect. The cat is not rainbow colour. LOL. IMO.

Give the cat some time to know you better. Patience. ;)

Not true, gender of the cat has nothing to do with it at all. Spayed cats are mostly friendlier. As are those who have had a lot of human contact since kittenhood.

one query here, wat happens if a cat gets too fat / big?

its like a cardiac arrest disaster..... and cats r not known to be very exercise-friendly. I cant very well bring it for a run.... -_-"

Watch his diet, and well, cats do burn off calories, and at a rate far higher than us humans, so let him out for a walkabout. Leash the cat if you wish, but let him take the lead. A picture of how fat or big may be useful too. As that may show if the cat has water retention problems, which happens to look like they are fat or pregnant.

Wahahahaha! I like the part I underlined for you..... :P

Its good you are considering adoption rather than buying. You may want to get to know cats' range of behaviours and attitudes first though. They've a very wide range..... Come join some of us for stray cat visits and see some. Some are hair masseurs, some are rolling pins, some of grumpy and temperamental, others are hyper, it doesn't end.

My bf himself has turned part-cat by now, too. He miaows to me everyday (yes literally)....

u guys do cat visits? Wow.... haha impressed.

the last time i went around doing something for cats (other than buying stuff from ACRES or SPCA) was back in schooling days, roaming a lil bit around campus feeding them. haha

Haiz but i just note one major problem: none of the windows have any grills. Not keen to see flying felines around my block -_-"

@ressac

Well, visiting stray cats gives me the chance to shoot them. :P

You mean cat falling out of your windows? If you are living in a low-floor flat (5 and below), quite safe lah. Most house cats like to people-watch from the windows, but rarely have the urge to take part in the flying part. And cats have remarkably sure footing. Discovery Channel had a show "The Ultimate Cat" a couple of years ago, and it shows how the physiology of a cat makes it so surefooted and stready. Go search for it!

And a NDP special...

@ Meowprince, u meant they will just watch OR they wun get injured if they 'fly' out? LOL if they wun like, jump out of the windows, then i can rest easy..... since its low floor! phewz

Generally house cats tend to be more lazy. They will watch but very rarely react. Unless you heng suay adopt a hyperactive psycho then that one will need to install wire grille. Otherwise, I do know a lot of (usually Malay) families who don't, they stay low floors, and their cats are still safely in the house....

The guide is to install, but it doesn't mean that without the grilles will result in guaranteed disaster. Its just a little riskier, esp if you have a hyper cat.

Again, while cats do have very cushiony paws and supple bodies, a fall from more than 3 storeys up can result in injuries/death. That alone is reason why most cats wont jump down when they are stuck in a high place (above 2 metres). Likewise, most of them will not intentionally fly out of the window once they have looked down.

haha will think bout it but the feline i'm currently looking at, is quite shy n emo-kia (like me???)..... doubtful she will be keen to do a flying trapeze. haha

Get to know your cat better first. Shy may mean scared of humans too. And that may translate into "jumps out of window in (self-imposed) fright".

MeowPrince, that means i must pop by the animal shelter to establish a relationship first with the feline b4 adopting it....! Argh, the shelter is situated at a darn ulu place in Lim Chu Kang -_-"

Anyway anyone tried leashing cats b4 and bringing them out for a walk? Scared they disappear if you let them roam freely. Think i will be worried sick if i lost my cat this way!

@ressac - Adopt via CWS, most of their cats are a lot more homely. As for leashed cats, well, I've seen one at Bishan park a couple of months back. Its rare, as cats tend to be more free-spirited compared to dogs. But they can be trained (from young) to walk with a leash. Be mindful that many dog owners in Singapore still do not rein in their dogs upon seeing a cat so that may lead to *ahem*...

An elderly lady has to give up her cats as she is moving away soon. She has a couple of beautiful homely cats up for adoption. Cats are well-fed and sweet. Please PM me directly within the next 3 weeks of this post if you can adopt any.

Here are photos of the first. Shall post the rest tomorrow.
