Unfortunately, its rates are the steepest amongst the big boys, so business is understandably crimped. The staff, with the possible exception of Lester, are superlatively friendly, unlike those of the brother spa Shuang. Lester is sometimes moody but then if I had to come all the way from JB daily, I would be more than moody! Lester from Gary Shoulder tattoo? randomtots
No,Gary's Lester is now selling insurance in Malaysia. Do you want to buy insurance from him? Waterspa's Lester has been there for a long time and looks like Show Luo, 小猪! Edited October 7, 2023 by randomtots
truthbetold
From time immemorial, Shuang and Waterspa have this nasty habit of NOT promoting their promotions! They reckon if you dunno about the promotions, then you are not entitled to the discounts, freebies, etc. So if they actually have a discount during the afternoon lull period and you dunno about it, too bad, they wont tell you and you wont get any discount. Such nasty business practices will backfire surely! Chokky
vwoolf
Oh my god. This is the worst place ever. They got me a masseur who was breathing so heavily, trying to massage my back. When I told him that he needed to go harder, he became rough. He could not tell the difference between providing strength and being rough. And while being rough, he was breathing so heavily that I thought he was going to pass out. I decided to stop the massage and they just led me out, with everyone on their mobiles. Nobody looked up to address this issue. 87 dollars for someone to spread oil over my back for 30 mins. Honestly, this place is to be avoided. Or maybe I am given a masseur who seems incapable of doing a decent and almost decent massage. Negativo
kumaru
I went last week and one of the worst experience ever. Same like @vwoolf masseur (in his 50s) who was breathing so heavily and looked tired. The oil used was warm but no any smell or good smell. Inside room also no pleasant smell at all. After doing massage, at the end asked for extra money for extra service. I was already disappointed and I said no and then thing did not go well after that. He did not want to do massage after that and just rubbing his hands here and there. I will never go there again. Blanka
Yes I couldn’t agree more. When I first went there, I didn’t know anyone so they ‘assigned’ me one and had very similar bad experience as above. But later on I got like Derrick or Lester when the massage and service was bit better. But I must say all their masseurs are quite ‘aged’ and I hope more younger ones will come. truthbetold
With Brandon from Cloud9 at Waterspa, known as Alan now, can we look forward to some affordable facial pampering?
mephistopheles
Brandon started out as a fresh young face fronting the counter at Cloud9, like the Sirens luring unwary adventurers to their doom. He was soon eclipsed by the glowering Kai when he assumed the beauty portfolio. With ever-diminishing returns from hideously expensive beauty treatments, he had to double up as masseur. Let's hope at Waterspa it's not another instance of 多才小用!
Blanka
Hi. I really like this place bec of its location and privacy and convenience. And I don’t mean to give negative comments but they really can improve their services. I mean, why is it that we pay 87 which is quite pricey actually but dun get to see or choose the masseuse? I was again given a random person, think his name is Alan but it was really not good and I always leave feeling regret… i hope they at least allow us to choose. Just some thoughts… so sorry

Just some thoughts… so sorry If you dunno the guys, it's pointless to see and choose bcoz what you see may not be what you get. Very often the nicest looking ones are the duds! The luck of the draw is still the best option, you never know when you might get a real gem!
Blanka
I remember I used to patronise one where they had like a catalogue but at least they were honest and transparent I feel. Yup agreed it’s luck of the draw in terms of skills and bedside manners I guess but would have liked to have the option to choose and not ‘forced’ to take whoever was free kind of thing… still like this place and probably go again but praying haha
randomtots
Maybe this guide can help you pick. Ask for them by name and they will be forced to let you have the person unless he is already engaged. The "guide" is entirely subjective, as I am an extremely prejudiced person, so heed at your own risk! The masseurs at Waterspa are: Eugene - mature skinny old-timer with some attitude, only Sporean in practice James - nastier version of Boo-Boo, Yogi's sidekick, with superlative massage skills Ah Feng - a bit scrawny but has mind-blowing techniques Derrick - accommodating and cerebral, with a tai-chi technique that makes your qi go wild Lester - 小猪 (Show Lo, Taiwanese singer) doppelganger, moody at times Alan - newbie from Cloud9, still a bit green, incapable of concealing annoyance Edited July 23 by randomtots Blanka

Just some thoughts… so sorry From my understanding, they have a system where masseurs are assigned numbers each day, for example, from 1 to 6. The masseur with the earliest number will attend to the walk-in or new customer first, and so on. I think this is a fair system that ensures all masseurs receive work. Unless you specifically know a masseur and call in advance to book, you will be assigned to the next available masseur based on their number in the sequence. randomtots
Usually it's the order the masseurs sign in for work, rather than some arbitrary order. But some masseurs like our dear Dylan of Dspa and currently Kevin tend to be over-zealous and rush to be first in line everyday, earning contempt and dislike from colleagues. Those who are late beyond some cut-off time are also penalised, like missing a turn. No matter how work is distributed, there can be NO totally fair way, as should be the case, in that those who are competent and put in effort to be nice deserve to get more work. truthbetold
Did you know dat different rooms at Waterspa attract different charges? If you stupidly got the biggest room with ensuite shower and didnt know dat the room without was $15 cheaper, they wouldnt tell you. They will thereafter try to give you the most expensive room. Therez another intermediate room, also with shower which is $8 cheaper than the most expensive. Is your favourite masseur likely to get you the cheapest room without your asking for it? Certainly not! 想得美,哪有人会破坏自己的好事? Edited July 28 by truthbetold
badkarma
Sister spa Shuang also implemented such nonsense once upon a time but must have suffered enough backlash to reverse the practice. Let Waterspa suffer a similar fate!

randomtruths
Waterspa should have got a new masseur by now to replace Allan, who left without making any mark! Go and ask for the new guy and tell us about him! Why they should so secretive about this baffles me. Take another example Cloud9, they have a new receptionist by the name of Newton and they keep him under furtive wraps, extremely paranoid that people should know about him. Such sinister behaviour of course suggests a deranged management, not that they are willing to admit it!

I remember at Nature Forest, the masseurs used to invoke Ivan's name, like he is God, to strangulate your orgasm! They rushed you out becoz Ivan takes a very dim view of extra time wasted without additional revenue. I dared Ivan to bang on the door or ring a bell like they did in the brothels of Geylang when time was exceeded. Echoes of this flagrant impatience can still be felt in SpaDlite where the masseurs would invariably shortchange you on time than incur Ivan's wrath. Of coz, now there is ample time left to be exceeded for want of sufficient business! 报应! Edited November 15 by mephistopheles

Someone once told me a story of how he ran into his father coming down from a brothel in Geylang as he was going up. I suppose they want to protect the privacy of their customers in ensuring minimal contact with each other but the onus should be on the paranoid customer himself to rush out, not on the establishment to shoo him out! As for literally showing you the door, this act of so-called courtesy is really lost in translation and should be discontinued!
