I'm certain I can remain vegan, forever... Anyone here vegan too n can guide me to gd food options? I'm a lil picky with food, even wen vegan. I avoid non-organic food, if I can comfortably... I prefer non-sugar foods, n drinks... Really wanna live till at least a 100, fit as a fiddle.. Heheh...Hope to find a gd friend that can guide me. If one can already give up eating meat, it is not hard to give up eggs too. From a biological point of view, the above statement is not quite correct. Fertilization of the egg occurs inside the hen, before the egg is pushed out of the hen's cloaca (backside). When the egg is out of the hen, it is no longer possible to fertilize it. Hence if the egg had not been fertilized before, there is no hope of a chick ever hatching out of the egg. Of course, from a religious point of view, in those days, it was not possible to tell if the hen had been fertilized by a cock, so it is possible that the egg could hatch out a chick. I understand that these days the eggs come from egg farms, and the hens are most probably virgins - but I cannot guarantee that. Some of my friends even say that plants give out high frequency shrieks when they are cut, and that we vegans/vegetarians are depriving many animals of their food =.="My religion, which I do not strongly believe in anymore, made me an ovo-lacto vegetarian from birth. Now, I always tell people that I continue with this diet because I'm just too used to it already. Moreover, eating meat or meat products is totally unimaginable to me.Just like for religion, I believe that promoting awareness for a particular diet is acceptable, but the responsibility of advocating a diet is too heavy. There are numerous research results and moral systems that are for and against almost every kind of diet. What are we to believe in? Honestly, the production of egg and milk do involve some degree of animal cruelty, such as unsatisfactory living conditions, absence of mating freedom etc. But the production of wooden bed frames, tables and chairs in our homes also sacrificed trees, and the habitats for many animals that are now endangered... fab 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

As long as the food do not result in the loss of the lives of sentient beings, they are fit for consumption. I am not sure if this is a good sign but ever since I started going vegetarian, the sight of meat will always remind me of corpse.
