Finally...............!YES!

An Asian country wins. Its was rumoured for many years that Mr Donald Trump whom is also the co owner of Miss Universe Organization was not a keen supporter of Asian beauties, thats why when last year when Miss Puerto Rico won and Miss Japan was 1st runner even with her speaking not 1, not 2, not 3 but 5 languages Miss Japan had to play second best to the(in my view) ugly 1 language speaking Miss Puerto Rico.(ok, she speaks 2 languages now after taking a year to learn english).

Dun get me wrong, i prefer a cock over a pussy anyday but last years Miss Japan was soooooooooo fxxkable.

Its not so much that since im so into all things Japanese and so into Japanese men or just Ken Watanabe in me, kekeke :D , that im so happy that Japan won, i happy that an Asian won and that there were 4 asians in the top 15, 3 in the top 10, 2 in the top 5, Miss Photogenic was won by Philippines and Miss Congeniality was won by a very cina ah lian but pretty looking China. Maybe this year so many asians stood out was dued to the fact that 2 out of the 10 judges were asian, Olympic Gold Medalist Ice Skater MICHELLE KWAN and JAMES KYSON LEE, who plays ' Ando Masahash' on Heroes, would have preffered his partner "Hiro" hehekeke :D .

Im also a little pleased that Miss USA fell on her bum on stage, she is very yaya.

Here are the Top 5.

5th - USA

4th - Korea

3rd - Venezuela

2nd - Brazil

1st - Japan

cheers

Miss Thailand Top 15, Miss India Top 5 and Miss Singapore looked ok lah but we could have done better with the National Costume. Only saw her face during the National Costume segment and at he end of the show being plastic to Miss Japan.

Key word here is Costume not Dress but i dun under why Singapore and some other countries put their beauties in normal looking dresses, Our Miss Singapore looked like she was wearing a cheap malay wedding dress.

I do agree that we need to start sending better Miss Singapores to represents the country but that will never happen as long as Errol Pang whom is the owner & chairman of Derrol Stepenny Promotions which holds the rights of Miss Singapore Pagement. He only chooses girls that hes likes to win.

One of my cousins was a Miss Singapore 2005 Finalist and she herself told me that even during the semi finals everyone knew who would be the top two as Darrel was soooooooooo clearly flirting with Merlyn & Sandy all he time.Sandy won, Merlyn 1st runner up and the one that most felt would and should win, whom gave best answers and look great Joan Seah(no shes not my cousin) came in 2nd runner up.

The winner of Miss Singapore Carol Chong 2006 was not a good choice also, she looked old, Jade Seah should have won but not for her brains as she is pretty bimbo but for the fresh look that she could have given singapore to the world, Carol looked old but she did have really big tits.........hehe.

Im not being racist but i really think the eurasian girl Cystalbel should have won this year as she gave a better answer to her question, remember she was ask what sport she thinks would win an Olympic gold and she answered "it depends which sport has the more foreign talent". Also, she is so tall.

The winner is a ok looking chinese girl whom would stand out in a club in singapore but she will not stand out at all when she is put together with another god knows how many beauties fm around the world. She is also not that tall and once again put together with other beauties she becomes short.

The only asian beauty uglier than Miss Singapore this year was Miss China. All other asian beauties were hot hot hot.

The was a Miss Universe contestant few years ago Miss China whom was the 1st runner up. she was tall not that pretty but she had a nice almond shape face with really small eyes that made her stand out. so sometimes its not bout the prettest wins but the one that stands out most.

Not really la... and also depending on your definition of "Asian".

If you talking about an Asian Country proper (which includes South Asia)... then not so recent Miss Universe title holders include Miss India in 2000 and also 1994.

If you are just talking about S.E.Asia, then it's probably much further in 1988 when Miss Thailand won the crown.

And since Japan is East Asia... I would presume you are talking about Asia as a whole... and includes, South Asia, East Asia and South East Asia.

If you read the latest news this year pagent is full of incidents, there was a massive riot outside the venue against USA for anti-mexcian illegal immigrant, one of the contestant shaved her hair, USA fell down during the catwalk last but not least one of the contestant was asked to change custume because of religon. Therefore the organsier inorder to avoid more chaos decided to award to a non-westerner (no american, no european no muslim no jew, no black) the title. Thus Miss Japan got in out of default political reason

Singapore has been sending representatives to Miss Universe contest as early as 1954. We have been represented at Miss Universe every year since 1966. We had our first semi finalist when Kathie Lee Lee Beng secured a 10th placed position when the pageant was held in St. Louis in 1983. The highest placing ever attained by a Singaporean delegate happened 4 years later in 1987 when Singapore played host to the Miss Universe pageant, where home favourite Marion Nicole Teo was named the 7th runner up.

All before Derrol Stepenny Promotions or Errol Pang's time. Derrol Stepenny Promotions took over fm Metromedia Promotions Pte Ltd in 2000 as organiser.

Since 2001, the contest has been organised by Mediacorpand Derrol Stepenny Promotions.

So i guess Errol & Donald are of the same kind ah?

Anticipate year 2008 winner to be another East Asian beauty, may be China or Korea, since Olympic to be held in Beijing.

In 1988, Olympic was held in Seoul, Miss Thailand was crowned Miss Universe in Taipei, history would repeat.

Like that they should have made Mexico win...........since you are saying that Japan won dued to political reasons. Also, the contestant who shave her head did not do it for the contest, she has always had a shave head as its a normal thing for a girl to do in Tanzania.

Miss Mexico was made to change her National Costumes after her original dress, decorated with brutal images of rebels in a 1920s religious uprising being hanged or shot, drew accusations of poor taste. It was not for religon reason its was dued to their deep history, war history.

I was so happy when Miss USA got booed and that she fell. She had her nose way up too high in the air.

cheers

Beauty is in the eyes of the Beholder...

and in this case, in the eyes of the 16 Judges (Preliminary and Telecast).

However, I would rather keep mine on James Kyson Lee and Dave Navarro (2 of the judges at the telecast). :D

In terms of Looks... she's definitely HOT...

But when she said "she wish for a wallet that never runs dry as a super power"...she totally lost it.... what kind of super power is that....? :o

Well... GOD is Fair...

Miss Japan is more balance..... Looks, Brains, Wits and Popularity... The audience simply adore her...

Poor Miss USA... kena jeered.... blame who... except the bushes... :D

Well.... she explaiined it's to help the world...etc... etc... etc..

Not personal gain la... :P

But... the judge asked "If you can have any Super Power you want, what would you like to have and why?" (Disclaimer: I am not quoting word for word) :B)

An "Emptyless" Wallet is at most a Super Tool or Magical Tool...

She could have said x-ray vision to see what Dave Navarro pack under those pants... at least she is more humorous... :P sure that will have the audience cheering...

With an answer like hers, she still managed a 2nd runner-up...

Just imagine if she could answer "smarterly".... the crown would be hers...!

Wasted... she could have prepared for it...

Questions like hers have sprung up several times....

Including questions like:

1) If you win, what issues would you deal with first....?

2) Who is your idol and why?

3) Woman today are ...... do you agree?

4) If you can change 1 thing in this world, what would that be and why?

5) Do you agree that a woman's place is in the home? Why?

It's like sitting for 'A' Levels GP... some issues just have to have prepared answers .....

Miss Universe... got job to do... have to deal with reports, attend big events....cannot possibly have an airhead...

if Only to pick one = looks or brain.

i pick beauty. I want to enjoy a few years of being hook up. Smart guys usually prefer their partners to be good looking. They do not need their partners to be clever because they themselves are already clever. Opposite attracts mah....

I just need my boyfriend to be clever. Leave the beauty thing to me....

If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.

With the help of LC's link in another thread, I managed to see the top 15 being announced...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzQT9yT4K0E&NR=1

And guess what else I saw?

Miss Singapore, who was captured about 4, 5 times was seen standing legs open wide wide, ala ah lian style! My goodness! She is the only girl who stood without a care of how horrible she looked! Tsk tsk tsk... how to win? *Sigh*...

My guess for Miss Universe 2008 is Miss China,it will coincide with the Olympic Games in China, since both have goodwill themes. The final decision is dependent on Donald Trump, lately there are so many unrest in the western countries at least the next few years titles should be from the east. After China it should be SINGAPORE turn provided she don't pose by opening her legs wide so ah lian :yuk:

what you talking bout? they go thru months of workshops and trainings. im in this ind and i know that its not as easy as people think and my cousin was a finalist in MIss Singapore 2005, she went thru 4 to 6 days a week training and workshops for aalmost 8 months but i do agree that singapore can do better with our choice of girls.

and the National costume was sponsored, gets your facts right, it was not sponsored by a big time singaporean designer but a still in school fashion student.

Oh please! I got a friend who was in the Miss USA pageant and our training is nowhere compare to their months of intensive training.

Our local budget for whatever beauty pageant is so low and pathetic and everything depends on sponsors.

Yah....this year winner Cheryl Tay

Kerbaya is now more known as SQ girls uniform, yes while it is more malay influence, it will be hard to find variation in that.

to be fair, finding a national costume for SG will be difficult with the mult-racial requirements.

i rem once they rolled out this national Lion (for lion dance) with elements of various races. that created a laughing stalk when the lion looked like mama lion slept with various male lion from different races.
