Foreign Talents In Sentosa For Chinese New Year Holiday

Yes, I agree that the foreigners in the photos are littering. This is anti-social inconsiderate behaviour, lacking civic manners. And by all means express your displeasure against their omnipresence. I did not say such facts are not a problem in reality. Also not true to say I have no positive solution. Read again. I mentioned 'education campaign'. Now what positive solution have you to offer? And please do not distort my intention. I did not say to ask Canadians Whites to speak loudly. What I am questioning is the purpose of highlighting such bad behaviour every now and then in BW.

a) Is it educational? If it is, then i will say "Thanks! I did not know foreigners can do such a thing in our land. It's an eye opener."

b) Why go overboard to say that they should not gather in public places, as some of you have written? It only serves to reinforce negative stereotyping when derogatory words are used e,g, "trash" or "scum".

c) Suppose - just suppose - these threads happen to be seen by hotheaded foreigners over the internet, they may spread anti-Singaporeanism among their community. Some may start to call us "pigs" or "dogs" or whatever abusive terms they can think of, in return for our calling them "trash" and "scums". Others may start a tit for tat by posting photos of Singaporeans gathering in masses at open air concerts etc, littering, spitting, jaywalking etc. etc. A vicious cycle will begin.

a) Is it educational? It is supposed to be educational for cronies to the ruling party and their likes. However, some of them, like you, have skulls so thick that nothing can penetrate through. Hopefully, more and more online discontent will filter through the calcium barrier to reach their grey matter one day.

b) So how should we address those foreigners who littered and air their shoes and slippers in public? "Monsieur"? "Your highly honorable"? For Pete's sake, a spade by any other name is still a spade. If it looks like trash, smells like trash, it will still be trash despite how rosy a name you give it.

c) Well... if other nationalities can start "posting photos of Singaporeans gathering in masses at open air concerts etc, littering, spitting, jaywalking etc. etc", then the first thought from us will be this: Are they really Singaporeans? Why? Even though we have not reached the type of social behavior as that of the Japanese yet, we are still aware enough of ourselves to behave properly in public to a certain extent.

That is the reason why we are so digusted by all those pictures above. We show some restraint in our behavior; They don't. Just because YOU are afraid of a tit-for-tat reaction from overseas, does NOT mean that we should continue to live with such INCONSIDERATE behaviors among us right now!!!

Those ladies dunt seem to care and cont to enjoy the sun. So now some people expect low wage workers who do hard labour like building your flats and clear your rubbish to be of certain standard and smell. Lol.

Yes, we expect "low wage workers who do hard labour like building (our) flats and clear (our) rubbish to be of certain standard and smell" whenTHEY GO HANG OUT IN PUBLIC PLACES LIKE THAT!! Just because you were used to your own stench when you were fat and pale in the past, and just because you are used to your own stench as the resident bitch of BW currently, DOES NOT mean that we are used to it.

so basically you want to limit movement of people of certain "class"? Just like how South Africa did during apartheid ? Hello! What the talk for more political freedom and accountability and all that jazz? Are you not wanting society to go many years backward? Don't like them crowding your flat? Don't stay near where they hang out.

Which part of the posting to which you replied to says anything about limiting anyone's movement? You know how to read or not? Yeah, we already know that you are fat, pale and stupid. No need to prove that point again and again!

haha. Thanks for providing entertainment.

I hate that our papers have a 中国 section. If there's any special news about China just insert it anyway in the newspaper lah. Must give special section to China for fuck? Even ST doesn't have a West section. It just shows that our government loves to lick PRC balls.

To put it correct , it has nothing to do with the govt ( why everything blame the govt !? ) .... It was because China was getting more powerful economically and politically in this region, hence 早报 felt that there was a need to give more emphasis to what was happening there.

SPH is owned by the government. By law, the govt owns more than 50% stake in SPH. Every Singaporean knows this so I bet you're just a PRC.

Since when is china becoming powerful "politically in this region"? Economically yes, but not politically. Drop your middle kingdom nonsense.

Make sense.

Wait a minute you left out something.

Gov't also likes to lick PRC pussy and "porr" Chinese Embassy lam-paar.

Partially right. Just too many Mainlander Chinese in Singapore and it is just to cater to this pool of Chinese readers.

宗乡会馆and中华总商会suggested SPH to publish China section leh.

By the way, these two associations lacky to Gov't. Not promoting investment in China but promote Mainlander Chinese to migrate here,

This thread reminds me of Universe 25.

However, people are not rats. We have brains and we have logic. I'm sure we can all feel the squeeze in the MRT, when we stroll down Orchard Road on the weekends or rushing home from work in the CBD. On the other hand, I believe it's not the lack of space, but rather, like the rats in the experiment, we (perhaps not due to our own choosing but because of the way this city had been planned) all congregate in an area which results in the subsequent stresses even though theoretically (and in actuality) there are spaces elsewhere on this island that is less congested.

Singapore actually has the space capacity to support a higher population, if urban planning decentralizes and the jobs were distributed to other sparsely populated areas such as the Northwest, the West or to some extent, the Northeast. I hope the government recognizes this and bring jobs to the suburbs, so that existing infrastructures are not strained to their maximum capacity. I understand the roots of the xenophobic sentiments, but closing Singapore off to the world and shutting the gates seem to me like an irrational, simplistic solution made solely based on our animal instincts, the kind that says 'I don't like what he's saying, therefore it must be wrong! I refuse to think and believe otherwise".

Personally, I think having a worldly, cosmopolitan population is not, in itself, necessarily a bad thing, it's just a matter of who is being let through the gates, and for what purposes. I don't think any great cities in history have not benefited from external migrations, rather, it is often the influx of foreign migrations that have allowed these cities to go down in history as great.

Do you want to be at the beach adjusting your breast in your bra with them around, looking like you will be gang raped anytime?

foriegners_stare_and_shoot_videos_of_beachgoers-thumbnail.jpg

Do you want your void deck to be flooded with these people eating, drinking, sleeping, pissed drunk, peeing and shitting all over the place?

masses_of_foreign_workers_fill_out_rowell_road_void_deck_to_eat-thumbnail.jpg

This is not a question of race or color, they can be a group of Singaporeans, Chinese, Caucasian, Japanese, Koreans doing this and they will get condemned all the same! This is simply too disgusting!

So many racists here. Imagine those people in the pictures were all white Americans, British, French, Northern Europeans, are you guys going to say the same things?

Yes, if they don't behave themselves n don't adhere to social norms. This was never about skin colours or social class to begin with. But to be fair if these guests are on good behaviour I got nothing to complain about. Give a little space for all good man n women:)

Yes, I know I will say the same things, and maybe even worse. What makes you think we won't?

I think many of those empathetic to the scourge of unbeloved foreigners are truly kind but somewhat muddled in their thinking.

Putting yourself in their shoes is never the same as being them.

While you reproach your fellow people for not being understanding, would these foreigners be as equally understanding when these empathizers are on their turf?

The argument may drag on but as history have always proven, such kindness is often misplaced, a result of poor judgement of human nature and an erroneous assumption that everybody thinks socially and culturally alike.

Given that many of you are Chinese, would you even consider a PRC boy for a long term partner. We have excellent examples of 'robert' in our midst.

Guys, guys....and sisters, stop arguing.  Let me tell you what I think.

Years ago, I had already felt that the government was already opening the floodgates a little too wide and allowed foreigners (not the low skilled that Singapore needs, but the PMET's) in and compete with us for almost everything.  Those in business will also agree that the government themselves compete with us for business!  That itself is a joke.

The economy was also constantly in and out of recession every two to three years, it made my head spin.  So, years ago, I told myself enough is enough and decided to take my business elsewhere... and leave I did.

As it turned out, that was the best decision I had made in my entire life thus far.

This year, I returned for the festive holidays and Oh My God...I was shocked with what Singapore has become over the years and through what I had read on this site and others i.e. transitioning.org, I would STRONGLY encourage those who are capable of leaving to leave, pronto!

The streets had become so crowded with unhappy faces, grumpy attitudes and bad manners.  Im not sure if the statistics released are correct but I sensed that the ratio for foreigners to locals are already 50:50.

As it is, Canada, Australia, the UK and America's gates are also closing on those who want to migrate each and every year.  Requirements for emigration gets tougher each year for these countries unlike our dearest Singapore that dishes out PRs and citizenships like a free gift!

What's worse is concrete proof through conversations with friends and relatives who stated that foreigners in Singapore hates Singaporeans.  They are arrogant, not assimilating, keep to themselves and the only thing they love is the Singapore dollar.

There will always be the "for" and "against" camp in every situation.

As such, my bros and sis, those who are not happy, please make the move and you will REALLY be happy!  From my experience, Singapore is really not that great afterall! I really am very happy in my new country.

For those who still find Singapore spectacular, just stay put where you are and enjoy your time on the island with your new friends!

Thats it!
