But do they represent the majority of gays?

Go to any gay app or the saunas, it is all about looks and body. Are they the majority? Why are there so many gays with attitude at the gyms?

That's just a bunch of sour grapes right there.

 

I think getting a good body from exercising AND eating right is a respective goal.

However no one wants to keep to eating properly,quoting YOLO all over the place.

 

This doesn't apply to people with high metabolism and can eat anything without seeming to get out of shape.

 

Precisely... we shdnt over-generalise things.

 

Living in a competitive city like Sg is about taking part in diff "races" each day, such as money-race, housing-race, paper qualification-race, job-race, branded goods-race, freebies-race, gadget-race, award-race, childcare centre-race and the list goes on and on. Meat-race is just one of them.

Is it fair to say that one race is more superficial than the other? I don't think so. Everyone has the right to "race" for the things deem important to him.

 

To me, nothing wrong with aiming for a "chesty abssie butty" bod for the sake of good health, vanity and confidence building.

you never read carefully. nobody said everything is beautiful.

as stated, there are many superficial gays around. we are all aware of that. in fact many here know that they themselves are superficial as well.

if you find gays from saunas, gay apps, clubs or gyms, of cos most people are superficial there. unfortunately they represent the majority of gays but they do not represent all gays.

who knows, some people there may actually be 'lost' or trying to 'fit in' but deep down they themselves know that they are not exactly superficial or like to lead such lives. thats why you hear of some gays 'being in the scene' but leave the scene for good after awhile. prob they have found the right guy or found their right group of friends or dun wanna lead such lives anymore.

thats why it can be fate or you have to find good gays at the right places. some are discreet, some do not hang out at these places at all or anymore or some are already attached.

whatever it is, for a start, dun keep thinking of wanting others to change but you have to start to change yourself. if you have the 'right or desired' attitudes, you will attract the right people.

Gays of all spectrum and values exist across all levels of society. You find only the types you saw base on the apps and places you visit. You can't base your conclusion that all gay men are superficial base on your place of observation.

Not all are into the meat parade.

Be what you want to be, walk with people who share your path but remember there are other life paths for other to explore/traverse too.

It's just that you say things so obviously pc and not from your true experience and your heart. It is just like Americans who say,"let's have lunch sometime". They don't really meant to spend lunch with you, they are saying something just for the sake of having something to say. Very fake.

You say such replies most of the time and come across as being emotionally fake advice being said for the sake of saying something.

I think the topic of this thread is "is it easy to get nice bods/abs from exercising?", not "should we worship muscle bods/abs?".  So my response is Yes, it is easy, if you have all the time in the world and determined to exercise and have a balanced healthy diet. No, it is not easy, if you are a working professional and have to take care of ageing parents, but it is not impossible. Heaps of people did it under worse circumstances, and also heaps of people did not. Which camp are you in? Me? I have a big tummy 35inches, and have given up trying, as I just don't have the luxury of time. Have to take care of my family, work, cook, wash, clean, waste time on public transport, etc. By the end of the week, all I want to do is do some simple exercise, hang out with my friends, and take my mom out for dim sum. That's just me. Don't follow me. Follow your own dreams!

put in extra effort and time trying to catch up your goal, no self excuses, just used some tv, net surfing or shopping time, you too can go gym fitness center, if not you can buy some dumbbell Weight Set and workout at home, mostly free Delivery, you can take 30 mins of slow walk in the evening after dinner, not that difficult right? the power is yours, to be or not to be.

Hey guys,

Doesnt matter we train abs for health reason or plain vanity, but everyone shd carry on toning the abs even if u dun really see any pac (like mine, haha). Anyway, it wont take up too much time or effort to add a few sets of crunches or leg raise into ur excercise routine rite? :-)

Even thou I may not have six pacs, or maybe they r being "protected" by a layer of fats, but my waistline does become smaller, n I have to hook my belt to an "inner" hole.

And after reading the followin article, I m more determined to kip toning my abs. Btw, slim pple with protruding bellies are not spared from the bad effects of abdominal fats too!

I don't like sitting on my bum all day and night. Just 3 days ago, I did 6 sets of 20 raised pushups, 6 sets of 10-fly (13kg each side), and 6 sets of 10 ab wheels. Today, I had vietnam beef pho for dinner and then I did 6 sets of 10 bicep curls (13kg), while watch Pirates of the Carribeaan 4 (DVD). Good movie. Now I feel muscle sore, even when sneezing. haaaaa-chew! the next I need to do is to find a guy like you! :thumb: How about you??

You seen people stealing time during work, travel or waiting in line to check their phones?

You can also steal time in the same way to exercise. Stand up to work or wiggle exercise or my favorite is to shake legs while sitting. It is not elegant but it moves your blood flow and strengthen your waist.

Don't drive to work, stand and wiggle your waist on the mrt.

While waiting for mrt, I go to the furthest corner and stretch, kick and pull my legs. When waiting in a long queue, I stretch and do knee bends with waist bends.

There are so many ways to catch up with your exercise. Only problem is that you appear to be silly in front of others. I seen some people look at me and roll their eyes. I simply ignore them since they are the ignorant few. I am the crazy uncle who can't seem to keep still.

But I also have a very simple way to exercise and keep my waistline slim. But I am not telling, don't want too much competition here.

People always think that I go to the gym frequently because of my hunky body. But I never. My secret is so simple, you only need to get used to the additional strains of exercising. It is not comfy but hey, anywhere or the gym, exercise is still no pain no gain. Deal with it like a man, no more excuses.

Perhaps some people can post pic of your bod. And share what routine or diet you follow. 

I know there are plenty of such perfect bod + routine around. Just flip any Men's health magazine and I can find. But what I want to see is not a perfect bod. Those perfect bod are out of reach for me. I just wanna achieve a slightly better than average bod and follow a slightly less demanding routine. Hehe. So hopefully someone can share :)

I know there are plenty of such perfect bod + routine around. Just flip any Men's health magazine and I can find. But what I want to see is not a perfect bod. Those perfect bod are out of reach for me. I just wanna achieve a slightly better than average bod and follow a slightly less demanding routine. Hehe. So hopefully someone can share :)

Actually, the answers are all there.

YES it is easy to get nice bod & abs from exercising. BUT BUT many are afraid of the pain of exercising. You're still looking for that short cut that the lucky 1% has. So your question is oxymoronic.

The biggest excuse is no time. l have the same problem too. But if people can steal time to play with their phones, they certainly know how to steal time to exercise. Most don't because it is not as enjoyable as playing with the phones.

So the common excuse of no time is not valid. No point looking for short cut, by the very nature of muscle growth, the muscles need to strain before they can grow. Hence pain is a necessary evil. Accept that instead of wasting time talking about it. Just do it.

Unfortunately for the majority, they still won't do it. It is easy to say do it for your health and yourself and not for the meat market. How profound or useful is that advice? Not useful right because it is based on nagging and not on rewarding carrots. As if that kind of advice can get most children doing their homework.

Let's talk about the great majority of gays like maybe 90%, we do need stronger incentives. Why not if it is to look good or even be popular in the meat market. It is shallow only if you despise others and think too highly of yourself based on looks only. It got lots of gays working out so obviously this is a better advice.

I will admit that this is my incentive too. It makes all that pain worthwhile and I am not shy to show my body for the rewards.

Disclaimer: obviously I didn't mention sensible diet and good habits or the lucky few who are blessed.

It is both hard and easy to get 6pacs. Good genetics helps. Otherwise a stricter lifetStyle (not necessarily healthy) is important. Then there are fat blockers and burners besides weights and cardio too

It's all due to

 

1. Working out

2. Clean diet

3. Good genes

 

agree on this.

 

1) doing solely abs exercises will not work, you need to keep your body fat % low.

2) good and clean diet already 50%. does not mean you starve yourself.

3) yes some people are blessed with good genes. easier for mesomorph, harder for endomorph, for ectomorph, look more like bones.

One third depends on Genes i.e. types of body etc. Eg. Mesomorph easier to build muscle than ecto and endo.

One third depends age and hence metabolism .

One third depends on diet and excecise.

genes i have no idea about that, i have high metabolism, i do not watch my diet, exercise like gym 3 times a week(but not train for abs), i run twice a week plus static exercise at the fitness corner(pullup, dips, and my favorite exercise hanging leg raise)

I am assuming you are a beginner to gym.

 

Regarding your lack of energy, perhaps you might want to start slow, get used to the form, observe how others do their reps,

choose appropriate weights and do not overstress yourself by expecting to attain a certain goal within a certain time.

I would not recommend any energy booster for you for now, until you are more familiar with the weights and listen to your body 

as you go along.

 

Maybe you would like to start by going to the gym 3 times per week. There is no need to dedicate 1 day 1 group training.

You can do a combination, but make sure the key parts are sufficiently covered, including cardio.

I recommend either BCAAs,caffeine or your regular protein shake.

Unless you train fasted,it's usually more of a psychological issue rather than a physical one.
