People who are buying air purifiers buy those with HEPA filters. The normal ones does not filter as well.

I am sad because

1) My Parents are old and the smoke is making them cough a lot.

2) My FB is sick and he have breathing problems from before.

Yes. HEPA Filter, washable & replaceable.

Do you have air purifier or air con at home?

NDP rehearsal cancelled due to haze

The first Combined Rehearsal for this year’s National Day Parade (NDP), which was scheduled to take place at The Float @ Marina Bay on Saturday, has been cancelled due to the poor air quality.

Is this the first NDP rehearsal to be cancelled in the history of Singapore?

I remember those forest fire in US, many fire fighter were called in to put out the fire.

It was declared a state emergency of great concern on many lvls - lives, ecology, pollution, etc.

I guess the whole world is watching with disappointment & deeply disturbed by such a childish reply from the other side.

N95 masks run out at shops in Singapore

SINGAPORE: N95 face masks used for protection against the haze in Singapore are sold out at many shops across Singapore.

Some netizens have also reported seeing masks sold for S$10, when the usual price is around S$2 or S$3.

Masks are also selling out online, owing to high demand.

The Health Ministry has urged Singaporeans to be patient, as it works with suppliers to speed up deliveries to shops.

Adrian Lo, director of Singapore Test Services, said: "The frustration is definitely there as a citizen. But I know the challenges of distribution so we just have to be patient and then hope the government intervenes and do something to spread out the availability of the masks."

Dr Ng Eng Hen, chair of the Haze Inter-Ministerial Committee, added the government will supply retail outlets with more masks and that NTUC FairPrice will get the stocks next week.

He said there will be a limit to the number of N95 masks each person can buy.

Dr Ng said: "NTUC FairPrice will cap the price of these masks, but also limit the number that each person can buy. Because when people buy more, they create more demand and artificial shortages, so they will cap the price and limit the numbers that each person can buy."

Poorer households across Singapore will get free N95 masks, announced Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen on Friday.

SINGAPORE: Poorer households across Singapore will get free N95 masks, announced Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen on Friday.

Dr Ng, who also chairs the Haze Inter-Ministerial Committee, said he will involve the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) in the distribution.

The minister said: “The government will distribute N95 masks free to poorer households in all constituencies through grassroots organisations. About 200,000 households will receive 1 million N95 masks. We will utilise the SAF to help get masks from warehouses to grassroots organisations.”

I'm not sure abt the mossie but the dengue crisis news headlines certainly has disappeared since the PSI broke the 1997 226 record. Everyone of us still need to be alert to the dengue epidemic. It will be hell to be down wif dengue during this haze epidemic.

All of us are now experiencing a health crisis tat's unprecedented in the context of 5.3 million ppl squeezed into a little red dot.

Well, WE ARE SMALL. They sneeze, we catch a cold. That is our disadvantage. We have been described as a "small red little dot", remember? - it actually means something, as much as we try to be bigger than ourselves.

I totally agree with what Ah Gong says when he says we are vulnerable. This haze just proved it.

What's worse is that N95 masks r sold out everywhere !

The Guardian pharmacy at my house there can still put a notice which reads " no face marks on Saturday & Sunday "

My goodness... In such hazardous situation that is affecting nationwide there is no sense of emergency to quickly bring in stocks for replenishment.

I wonder if all of us can handle a real war situation...

Hi. The haze cleared for today is due to slight change in wind direction. The NEA said that the haze will return tomorrow and expects a 24-hour PSI to be around 201-300 within the VERY UNHEALTHY range. Don't keep your masks yet! :)
