IkuTube
I wonder are there any PC enthusiasts amongst us here and going the overclocking way?I have always enjoyed overclocking my system. It's a thrill to see how the processor and memory can be pushed to the max and getting a faster performance.Let's share the experiences and problems here. IkuTube
Quite simply, overclocking is a technique where you make your computer to run at a faster speed than the norm. Example, you bought an Intel Core2Duo E6600 at 2.40GHz and overclock it to 3.22GHz - meaning, you overclock the processor higher than the manufacturer's specification. Also, you might want to overclock the memory. Example, you have DDR2 667 and push it to 800.Overclocking is all about trial and error depending on your hardware. You might question why the need to overclock? Personally, it's a hobby for me. At the same time, it gives me thrill that I bought a processor at a lower price but able to maximize its full potential. Doing so, I had actually saved. There are avid gamers that overclock their graphic cards to increase frame rates. It is important to highlight that overclocking comes with a risk too. However, with some common sense and to follow basic guidelines, the risk can be low. maturemedium
Wont It overheat the processor and permently damage it.. hmmm erh.. Dont think I want to take the risk leh.. PC not cheap la.. Quote Don't worry, Be happy
IkuTube
Overclocking will increase the temperature of the hardware [processor/motherboard/graphic card/rams] and it is always important to ensure that there's an efficient airflow. However, newer hardware are being manufactured with overclocking in mind. The latest P35 motherboard, and its predecessor 965P, for Intel chipsets are one good example - not only that they support 'intelligent' overclocking by the manufacturers, some are designed with heatpipe to minimise overheating issues. Overheating has become less of an issue with overclockers now.At the same time, Intel has also set its core microarchitecture for high overclocking margin with the processors.PC not cheap la..It can be cheap if you know what you want Of cos, the difference is when one DIY and/or upgrade certain hardware versus online 'brand' purchases.
