Yes it can be mildly frustrating, especially when you are so into the guy and expect him to drop everything just so that he can attend to your beck and call... get my drift?

Chill out, he has his own stuff to deal with too. Perhaps he's online because someone else sent him a Whatsapp message too at the same time... you never know, right? At the end of the day, he is his own person too, and he has the prerogative whether to reply you or not. Don't overthink things and just go with the flow.

I'm one of these kind of people. See already don't reply. Why? Cos I don't like tapping on the phone and I have other things to do. Doesn't mean I'm not interested in continuing the friendship, just don't like chatting.

Point is: your friend might be like me. You can try meeting up irl. You might get a more positive response.

Do you think that this might be a reason ?

I'm guilty of not replying eventhough I seen the messages. Truth is, I have a lot of things on my hands and sometimes I just don't have the mood to chat. I know that once I replied, I would have to continue the conversation for another 15 to 30 minutes. Yet, "Sorry. Busy now. Chat later?" seems like a rude reply. Well, I choose not to reply until I'm free.

I sometimes get paranoid when people don't reply my messages, so I told them, if they are really busy, then tell me they are busy, don't just leave me waiting, I rather they tell me that they are busy, along side a simple description of what they are doing like, "im eating", or " I'm working". I'm fine cos I respect that they are busy... I don't find that rude the slightest, angelix. If they don't reply, they may be aren't that interested but want to keep you in their loop. mhmm. diff ppl diff perspectives.

Speaking loudly, suffers softly. Smiles so wide, cuts unseen inside.

Bitin' the bullet, but never kick the bucket.

I guess I understand when people take their time to respond. But personally, I am very quick. As soon as I see a message, I respond. I dunno if that makes me look desperate or too available. But I feel uncomfortable not responding even if it is to someone I don't like which is another problem because I don't really dislike that many people.

I always assume people are a lot like me. If they were interested, they would respond quickly. If not, then it is an indication of they are not interested. I'm a pretty busy guy too, but I always have the time to respond to an email or a message (only takes a few seconds, haha). But yeah, I get really paranoid too. There is a guy that I like a lot, and whenever I facebook him, he takes an entire day to respond if at all. Sigh.....

People must find me tiring and high maintenance. Or perhaps there is some internet/online etiquette that I am not following that puts them off?

We always try to find excuse for that guy, maybe he is busy etc etc. From my opinion, his initiation was just testing market, he is not really that into you, not that sure or afraid to move forward at this stage. Hard to swallow, I know, I feel the same, and deep down you sure hope he is really into you, but another part of your heart tells you otherwise.

What you can do now is to test market like him, when he message you, try not to reply so quick, see what happens.

The thing with Whatsapp messages is it can be distracting especially when you are in a chain of thoughts while doing some work. Hence, I usually ignore it and go back to it only when I have time.

Hence, he might not be ignoring you. It's just that he is really busy. :)

This is my personal experience. My bf is crazy about me and talks a lot when we meet up. But when it comes to WhatsApp, he either takes forever to respond or responds with little or no emotion, which drives me crazy. I'm the sort that respond promptly (because he is important to me) and kinda expect the same of him. But I know I can't apply my own standard on him and trying to accept that this is the way he is. Perhaps he is just not that good a typist.

eh haha used to feel this way... I was so immature to even ask him why he doesn't reply me.

but all doubts and feelings aside, I think you just get used to it la. maybe sometimes you need to care less or not put so much of yourself into it

It's a generational thing i guess. Those from the 80s and below will know how slave-inducing being forever connected can be.

I used to be online all the time, never turning off my data plan on the phone or my pc at home. Certain things happen and had to go offline for about a week. The first few days was torture. After 3 days, I actually found it really freeing and realized i'm happier without being conected to people all the time. The people who were sincere would sms or call me directly. I found i had the freedom to pick and choose who i talked to, according to my needs.

Maybe your friend had discovered this. You should try it too.

Well I have a friend for more than one year, we chat on fb and whatsapp.. I have experienced him not replying me even he is online, it was really irritating and hurts at the same time especially if u really like him(or her). But once, i confessed that i hate when he does it. I found out he was just busy doing things and that, maybe reading, watching, reading, chatting about school works and all. So that made sense. You can't just have him all the time u want. But be noted that he still gots time for you in some other days coz if not, that means he is not interested talking to you. Well in my case, he msg me first when he is free, and I made a rule that If I send, he don't reply, I'll stop sending another msg til he will msg me first again :)

I think it is better if a person replies and says that he or she is busy so that the person does not wait forever for the reply. Not replying according to me is rude. Also the person initiating the chat does not know whether he should continue chatting or not.

If he doesn't reply in 6hours time, it is simply too much

Told my boyfriend it is not polite (including me) if the message has been read but not replied within 6hours

Who sets the rule? Me, because how can one not check his phone during the day and the job is sooooo busy every single day for not giving a short reply. Even the CEO has to make time for his family...

Idk i mean if you are busy with other matter at hand , why go in and read the messags in the first place? For me, when i am busy i just off internet connection to my phone to avoid such problem.

Waiting for my impossible love

Dunno, I've ever seen people playing with their iphones constantly but can have fifty over unread whatsapp text, equally many unread sms, missed calls and hundreds of unread emails. Its like they just don't want to stay connected all the time.

this whole tread is just silly.......... i'll reply when i am free! i am not a phone slave! i do not "serve" my phone 24/7! i don't check/look at my phone when i'm eating! i don't swim/gym with my phone! i don't shower with my phone! i don't check my phone when i watch movie in cinema! i don't check my phone when i am reading a book! i don't get angry with my fren when they don't reply me.... if people are angry with me for not replying them immediately, then they are NOT my fren!
