The more you earn plus bonus. The more you have to contribute to the income tax.

Nowadays gov helping more people with medical expenses therefore money have to come out from icome tax from high earners.

Hi camperboy, singapore's economy is improving but the payout for civil servant is not reflecting. there may be several reasons for this 0.65 such as LKY's passing on, SG50 celebrations and SEAG. from organizing to hosting, and executing, dollars were spent. if all these were cut, i believe the accounts can be nicely done to benefit the contributors to the civil services.

 

what i mean you voted for, is the general saying of the electing of government. since it represents the majority of the citizens, there is nothing much that the powerless people like us can do. during the election, we merely cast our vote to the desire candidate.

 

with the expenses keep increasing in singapore, bonuses should be viewed as a benefit to loosen the financial strain in the family. with increasing expenditures, but low increment in salary, we would depend very much on the bonuses to bring in small little "perks" in life. and also, i did not mention voted for a tougher year ahead but in general reply to the title YE bonus for CS. if im commenting to a certain reply, i will quote the comment just like what i am doing now.

Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall..

I don't quite agreed that the Singapore's economy is improving.  Look like the overall forecast for the whole of 2015 is just slightly above 2 percentage point, just barely above the projected forecast of 2 to 4 percent.  Whether the passing of LKY, SG50 and SEAG has any bearing on our bonuses is only guess work.

Fatty, wake up your idea.

There is a strong likelihood that that Singapore (after a long while) may have a budget deficit next year.  If you still do not know what it means, it means recession is just around the corner.  Count yourself lucky that you still have a job in the gov writing papers, submissions and doing powerpoints, while there are many out there in the private sector who will have to brave some difficult times ahead!
