tks bkkandy for the response....

There is so much hu-ha about the yunomori, many forum friends tend to recommend this ...apart from the price at bkk is cheaper, I m wondering is there really worth exploring there?

Bkkandy,

May I asked are there any other hotels/lodging (must have personal ensuite bathroom/toilet) in Bangkok ie worth staying? I m looking at a budget of per SINGLE room per nite of 1K+ baht only , short walk to BTS/train station ?

Thanks to the very detailed instructions posted earlier in this thread, it was easy to find the place.

The place looks as per the pictures on the net, both on the outside and the inside. The shower handles are a bit tired though - the 'metal' has come off handles, exposing the plastic underneath. Looks like a bit of maintenance is required. When I was at reception filling in the form, Stephane carried some curtain rods into the back of the place - think he was repairing something. He said hello. Friendly enough person, I hope he reads this review.

Ok, on to the massage then. Having heard so much about the Ob Oon massage, I opted for 90 mins of the Thai Ob Oon massage and 30 minutes of the Organ II massage. Cost: 1275 + 600 = 1875 THB. On the form, I indicated that my problem areas were my neck and upper shoulders and I explained to the reception person that I am weak around the calves so less pressure there please. Was shown to the curtained off area and was requested to shower. Poor customer service as going from a light area to a darkened area, I could not see that well - was not shown/guided as to where to put my clothes and belongings. Was also not shown where the shower area was.

Ok, after the shower, face down, the masseur started on my right leg. And it was my right left for like at least the next 15 mins. Anyone who has received massage would tell you that having a sole area worked on for that long is a bit strange - it feels strange and the body gets a bit bored. Poor massage skills - the masseur did hit the correct areas nor did he apply the correct pressure. It was like that for the rest of the body for the next however long. The only difference between this massage and other massages is that the masseur does touch the penis or glides over the penis when massaging the upper thigh or lower abdomen region. The rest of the massage was the same, not much technique. Some attention paid to the areas I indicated as problem areas but not enough strength. The massage was so boring that I even feel bored writing this.

After 90 minutes, the transition to the organ massage II. The masseur hooked his knees under my lower thighs and started massaging my abdomen, inner thighs and genitals. I think someone here said that this is a glorified H.E. and yes, after experiencing it myself, I agree. Pure wanking, no slow or sensual rubbing, no change of strokes. Shower and a cup of tea after that.

Major disappointment as I was looking forward to the experience, having read so much about it here. Given the cost, I would have gotten a much better massage and experience in places like Arena. Would I go back again? Never.  I hope Stephane reads this and ups his game and better choose and train his team else this place will be another male massage that bites the dust in the not too long future.

well I do like the Yunomori, but as always guess it depends on personal preferences if one likes it as much or not. Also can depend on when you go, at certain times it may simply be too crowded to be as reaalxing as it should be

At that budget, try Nantra Silom (located on SIlom Soi 8, which is right next to Soi 6, where the well known Prime massage is). Cheap, clean, modern, with wifi and close to BTS Saladaeng

Dear looklook

it is a hotel/lodging, not an onsen/massage place

There used to be a great masseur by the name of Wat working there. He gives one of the best massages in bkk imho. But he's free lancing now. Wonder if anyone has his contact.

yes SIlom night market is closed  Don't know where the DVD stalls might be, possibly some vendors from Silom moved to Patpong, where there are/were a lot of unoccupied lots. I haven't checked yet if that happened. Would seem logical to me, but then logic doesn't always apply in Thailand and also we don't know what the pricing structure for having a stall in Patpong vs one in Silom is, who they have to pay and how much

is the Silom night market closed permanently?

yes, it's a continuation of an ongoing "clean up" effort by the government, which says vendors are illegally using public space (i.e. the sidewalk) for their personal business. That may be true, but street markets and especially the street food is quintessential Bangkok. They should rather make it legal somehow, regulate it and allow these things to happen in some form rather than abolishing it in a citywide "clean up". Thai people depend on street food for their dinners (so do I), tourists are attracted by the markets and street food and bring money in to the economy, and the vendors need to make a living, too. Where are they supposed to go? Some (or many?) of them may drift off into crime to make a living. Not good and a shortsighted policy.

So, unless the still ongoing negotiations of the vendors with city hall are somehow successful, the ban has to be considered permanent

badly need undies till u need to fly out?

Faster methods: go carousell, or online ordering

For me, I need quality touch.....but since bkk underwear is acceptable to some, so I doubt u need to feel/touch it before purchase....

My final advice: respect intellectual property!

For those who are travelling to Bangkok, do expect some changes to the entertainment venue.

Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej dead at 88

Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the world's longest-reigning monarch, has died after 70 years as head of state, the palace says. In a televised address to the nation, Prayut Chan-ocha said Thailand would hold a one-year mourning period and that all entertainment functions must be "toned down" for a month.

Thank you very much! Actually other than gay spa,  do you have any traditional massage shop there to recommend?

u can try all-time Singaporean well-loved massage: Urban retreat spa
Straits times also recommended
http://www.urbanretreatspa.net/

http://www.urbanretreatspa.net/contact

I don't like doing it w no proper rooms or locker-stealings

just below asoke mrt (on the Sheraton hotel- side of road)

my advice: book, always book in advance

the common ones are what Health Land massage but I often heard about the bad services

urban massage  near to suk mrt or asoke (not straight, but I have not tried it before)

erm,why did u come to this forum to ask for straight massage? and next week is your trip, this weekend then u start treating us  like your tour guide?

Oh ya the reason why I ask for straight massage shop is because i find it more thrilling to discover special experience discreetly in such place. Haha

well, (some) official Loy Krathong festivities may be canceled, but people will probably still loy (float) their own private krathong as is the tradition.

Must I wear only black / grey shirts and pants / shorts for the whole trip in Thailand? Non-black/grey Underwears ok?

no you don't have to wear black/grey, as the 30 days for which the general public is asked to do so will be over by Loy Krathong. Not sure how people will change after the 30 days, I suspect some (many?) will continue because they just feel like doing it. Of course, government staff will have to continue anyway for 1 year, so there will be at least some black for a long time. Anyway, I'd suggest maybe to just refrain from super-bright colors. As a tourist you're kinda excused anyway, though during the 30 days appropriate dress is appreciated by the people.

Underwear? LOL, color doesn't matter as it is not visible in public.
