Of course, government staff will have to continue anyway for 1 year, so there will be at least some black for a long time. Anyway, I'd suggest maybe to just refrain from super-bright colors. As a tourist you're kinda excused anyway, though during the 30 days appropriate dress is appreciated by the people. Underwear? While your concern about grieving Thailand is appreciated, but he did have a legitimate question about appropriate attire for his trip to BKK for Loy Krathong. That question included on about underwear and was duly answered. Though I'll admit I don't know why it was asked. Maybe because not wanting to offend when changing in the locker room of a sauna? That would be a legit concern, too. Having said that, your volunteer links are interesting, I will keep those and have a look, volunteering of some kind is something I might be interested in. I really just want to see the railway market in maeklong and amphawa is quite close. Maybe i should skip amphawa, so i can go back earlier to tour bkk. for ayutthaya, im not a big fan of temple, but i do like history. So most likely choose just 1 or 2 temples (1 of the big ones and the other would be the buddha head intertwined with tree roots), then visit the other non temple attractions there like the foreign quarters (they have dutch/portugese/british and even muslim quarters). The van is plenty (depart as it gets full or about every 30mins) and itll take about 1.5 to 2 hours one way. Im not a big fan of cities though, not big on shopping either. Ive been to indonesia countless of time and still havent visit or stay in jakarta lol thanks for the advice though. Maybe ayutthaya will be a stretch, so ill just assumed ill be back to bkk just for dinner and maybe massage lol. Ill do my city exploring on maeklong day instead

Sudu
still cant decide whether i should stay near asoke bts or silom/salaedang bts. my main concern is the proximity to the massage centers as most likely will have my session a bit later in the evening. some of the centers that catches my eyes are dr bear(if i can get the owner), arena, vclub. Thank u:) pretty much everything is open, though apparently some (str8) clubs such as Beam and Glow have closed until further notice, i.e. until they feel it's ok to reopen and get enough customers. It's really up to the individual establishment, there is no ban. Soi Pratuchai aka Soi twilight bars and gogo's are open. DJ Station I was told closes at midnight (and did so last night a friend who was there told me), probably until the end of the 30 day mourning period (my own guess). Dr. Bear can easily be reached from both, by MRT. Only difference being from Silom MRT it's like 3 stops more than from Asoke, but same in terms of convenience. Arena and some other gay parlors such as Senso and Prince are in Silom area as well. Also, the "normal" massage parlours in Silom have many guys (or even guys only) rather than girls only, and a HE can easily happen there too. Paradise Massage on Silom Soi 6 for example is not like the full-service shops like Arena, but is gay and things do happen there. Prime massage is one of my favorites for a good massage with much smaller chance of HE. Bottom line: much more variety and choice in Silom for a guy. Sudu
Thanks bkkandy and love-handle. I dont mind any kind of massage centers gay or not as long as there are male masseurs available. And i dont go for full services too, but open for light fun if im in the mood. And also dont really go to gogo bars. One of the things i wanted to do in bkk is to carch the sunset at wat arun, and catch the night markets. Then visit the massage parlour at the end before going back to hotel. and i am going to ayutthaya for the history and not just temple. Maeklong is really for the railway market and nothing else. Amphawa is the floating market close to maeklong, maybe just go to grab lunch. Seems like either silom or asoke would be a good choice. I like prime because apparently they have well trained masseurs. I have always had at least decent massages there, most of the time very good to excellent. Though for completeness' sake i have to tell you that people have told me that they were not too satisfied with their massages. That may be down to bad luck getting a less skilled masseur, or their personal preferences as to what massage style they like. Having said that, to me personally it has always seemed that chances for bad luck at Prime are much lower than elsewhere. It seems a well run place. As for quality massage, I now have a regular there, who has worked there for 7+ years and does a strong oil massage the way I like and sometimes need it, so at times I book him advance. @Sudu: sure you can stay at Asoke, good transportation options there. But male masseurs are WAY more prevalent in Silom, where they are EVERYWHERE (see also gc0805's post above). If you don't want the "full service" gay massage, then the purely gay shops such as Prince, Arena, Senso (all Siom or Urban Male or Banana (near Asoke) are not the right thing for you, as they have a minimum tip for the masseur exactly for that, the "full service" which you apparently don't want to take advantage of. So any of the regular shops with males masseurs are fine for you, and some light fun can (VERY) easily happen there (less so at Prime though). Note that the "standard" tip for a hand job is 500 Baht. Overall, your plans for Bangkok do sound pretty good to me! Sudu

Montara has closed down and been replaced the Green Massage supermann

The latest review is this one by Guest Dr Bear who went recently in early October. Be prepared to be dissapointed. Thanks to the very detailed instructions posted earlier in this thread, it was easy to find the place. The place looks as per the pictures on the net, both on the outside and the inside. The shower handles are a bit tired though - the 'metal' has come off handles, exposing the plastic underneath. Looks like a bit of maintenance is required. When I was at reception filling in the form, Stephane carried some curtain rods into the back of the place - think he was repairing something. He said hello. Friendly enough person, I hope he reads this review. Ok, on to the massage then. Having heard so much about the Ob Oon massage, I opted for 90 mins of the Thai Ob Oon massage and 30 minutes of the Organ II massage. Cost: 1275 + 600 = 1875 THB. On the form, I indicated that my problem areas were my neck and upper shoulders and I explained to the reception person that I am weak around the calves so less pressure there please. Was shown to the curtained off area and was requested to shower. Poor customer service as going from a light area to a darkened area, I could not see that well - was not shown/guided as to where to put my clothes and belongings. Was also not shown where the shower area was. Ok, after the shower, face down, the masseur started on my right leg. And it was my right left for like at least the next 15 mins. Anyone who has received massage would tell you that having a sole area worked on for that long is a bit strange - it feels strange and the body gets a bit bored. Poor massage skills - the masseur did hit the correct areas nor did he apply the correct pressure. It was like that for the rest of the body for the next however long. The only difference between this massage and other massages is that the masseur does touch the penis or glides over the penis when massaging the upper thigh or lower abdomen region. The rest of the massage was the same, not much technique. Some attention paid to the areas I indicated as problem areas but not enough strength. The massage was so boring that I even feel bored writing this. After 90 minutes, the transition to the organ massage II. The masseur hooked his knees under my lower thighs and started massaging my abdomen, inner thighs and genitals. I think someone here said that this is a glorified H.E. and yes, after experiencing it myself, I agree. Pure wanking, no slow or sensual rubbing, no change of strokes. Shower and a cup of tea after that. Major disappointment as I was looking forward to the experience, having read so much about it here. Given the cost, I would have gotten a much better massage and experience in places like Arena. Would I go back again? Never. I hope Stephane reads this and ups his game and better choose and train his team else this place will be another male massage that bites the dust in the not too long future. Guest big ass
These type of high class places will play hard to get. If you want sex in Bangkok, there's no need to pretend if you go to those low class massage joints inside those no business soi. If I choose a male masseur, it is very obvious what I want if take all the trouble to come to this not busy business massage joint. After an okay massage, some finger massage to open me up, raise up my legs on his shoulders and penetrate me. No need even to ask, he'll bang me and even if he's straight he'll feel siokness using my well oiled body for fun. Even though I know he's straight but I enjoy the way he use me like a free masturbation toy. That's no tender loving feelings, only pure sexual banging to release his loads. The best is when he's enjoying the sex that he begins to treat me like a female and caress my boobs and call me queen asking if I like his fucking. After the sex, the tips is very cheap. lovehandle
agreed fully with all limbs raised!!the more u enter a place, u should be clear of what u r expected and what u should be doing some are like going thru an engineering process when wanted to have "fun" , pls don't forget your head and thinking box is below, down under, not the brain up there after using such service, points should be given to your underlying purpose: not on the ginger tea, I read a thread on massage(not here) praises are given to the BEST ginger tea in Singapore and some said JB Ginger tea - yes, can be good but it is given as 1-5points out of the 100 marks rating, it is still very insignificant to mention goodness, is that why some go to a restaurant or onsen or public toilets for viewing? when it is time to go to "those" massage, then the pick a nebulous one or give a complimentary on insignificant really looking forward to good sharing about bkk soon! 3 hours ago, Guest big ass said: These type of high class places will play hard to get. My thai colleague said it is mostly back to normal, behind closed doors. The bars around her workplace are operational. But tourists and thai people alike are encouraged to be mindful of their actions. Outward expressions, shouting, laughing too loud is discouraged. From what I have been reading elsewhere the bars are open again but close at midnight, the boys are modestly dressed as compared to before, jeans or pants but no tops etc but the bars are a bit quiet though
