Arena

My first massage in Bangkok.  Boys stood in line a few metres away and posed as I sat with the manager to take my pick. Manager explained the packages as well as minimum tip (1000 Baht, 90 min). He repeated that tip only covered a hj.  This became clear during the massage.  Massage was strong and good. However in the latter half of the session when I reciprocated the masseur's touch, he quickly raised the minimum tip to 1500 Baht and offered more services.

Prince

My second massage in Bangkok.  Boys stood in line behind a large glass wall. Manager sat with me and took my questions,e.g. who among the boys are gay and who straight. Settled for a 90 min package and the minimum tip quoted was 1500 Baht.  Massage while good was more sensual and boy was accommodating.

Expect to pay more than the minimum tip.

Overall,  while I paid a little less over at Arena, the facilities at Prince more than make up for the higher price and you have definitely more choices of masseurs.

That's a good tip buddy. Planning to visit both places. When in the room, can request to dim or off lights for more romantic time?

Is it true there won't be Songkran celebration in Bkk this year?

I asked a local regarding this. According to him, Songkran celebration will take place as per normal. He shared that the sensitive mourning period is over, and with the new successor, there is no issue with celebrating songkran. Ultimately, it is an event that will attract huge number of visitors, and that has positive effect on their economy.

Phew ... was a bit scared that songkran celebrations will be cancelled, but it looks like fun as usual!  Anyone wans to go brave silom late afternoon on Thu 13 Apr together?  Will be fun to battle as a team =D

Hmmm, anyone knows if Chatuchak market will be open on Sat 15 Apr and/or Sun 16 Apr though?

BANGKOK — The Thai New Year festival, or Songkran, will be as fun as ever despite the ongoing mourning period for His Majesty the Late King, a top tourism official said Friday.

In Bangkok, the usual festivities will play out on Khaosan and Silom roads as usual, and state-sponsored events will be held nationwide for the festival’s days, which fall April 13 to 15, said Yuthasak Supasorn, governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, though he added that revelers are advised to observe customs and behave appropriately.

“Songkran won’t be changed,” Yuthasak said by telephone. “The government has already made clear: Any cultural celebrations will take place as usual. People may ask, can they dress up in Songkran outfits? Yes, they can, just make sure they are appropriate.”

i will be staying at bandara suites silom from 18-21 apr. It's nearish to Silom Bts. Any massage place nearby to recommend (both proper massage and hanky panky ones) and what are the prices like, esp for "full service".

Can anyone share the damage at Banana Club?

you're staying opposite my place :)

massages: there are not two (proper and hanky-panky) types of massage shops, but three:

1. proper with strictly and really-really-really no hanky-panky. These are usually the upscale ones

2. proper ones with the possibility of hanky-panky. Most massage shops in Silom area fall in this category. The probability and extent of the hanky-panky depends on the shop and the individual masseur

3. the gay full-service shops (like Banana which you mentioned), where there is a minimum tip and full sex in included in the course

Banana not sure, I forgot.  I think minimum tip might be 1000 or so, plus price for the massage. Or was it 1700 all-in? Can't remember sorry

There is an upscale, but still inexpensive massage shop very near Bandara Hotel, just opposite and about 100m to the left called Sook Sabai. They do have male masseurs too, but this is a category 1 shop. Quality massage, but def no hanky-panky

Prime is a favorite of mine, a category 2 shop, but at the lower end of the scale, so to speak, i.e. probability of extras lower than elsewhere, but that's OK as I go there for the good massage
