azimuth
Just out of curiosity, what kind of ticket prices do you all pay to go for Bangkok? Will be good to get a good range as well as the airline so that those who are planning to go know what price is cheap, acceptable or expensive. :-)

Guest Guest
I usually will take thai airways. Ard 350. Inclusive of luggage and meal. Better flight timing also.Jetstar tiger scoot not cheap nowadays. Ard 270. Sometimes can hit up to 340. That kind of price, I rather topup abit and go for better flight.Unless u booked ur tixs months ahead. So far the cheapest tix from jetstar I bought 93 including tax and luggage. But I booked 8 months ahead.

Will be good to get a good range as well as the airline so that those who are planning to go know what price is cheap, acceptable or expensive. :-)Cheapest I ever managed to get was Air Asia for $160 all in (without bags). But as said earlier by someone else, need to book at least 6 months in advance of be very lucky. I would consider a budget airline if it's around $250 all in without checked bags. I never stay more than 3 days, no need for a checked bag. From $300 on you can get a regular airline such as Cathay Pacific or Thai. Timings are not always optimal. I don't like landing after 5pm in bkk. Means heavy traffic there. Waste of time. And I don't like flying out before 2 or 4pm, so I can still enjoy the pool or go to an early market on Sunday
azimuth
Great to know. I guess most of us prefer travelling over the weekend. In such cases, budget airlines may not always be cheap. Best to go through a few comparisons with full service and budget airlines. I find budget airlines cheapest for weekday travel only.

Enelym1978
And yes, I'm the first to post the review hehe (someone will recognize himself ). So went to BKK this weekend with a friend and BW member.Stayed at Le Meridien on Surawong Rd (near Patpong market and Silom road) as this is still my favorite hotel in Bangkok. We visited the fairly new Yunomori Onsen. http://www.yunomorionsen.com/ Location: it's on Sukhumvit 26, basically at the southern end of it, when it crosses Rama IV road. It's in a fairly new shopping/restaurant area called A-Square. Opposite is another restaurant area, K Village. Try telling that to a taxi driver... otherwise if you tell them the cross roads, it should be fine. We walked all the way from Phrom Phong (one station after Asok station, Terminal 21) and it took us a good 15-20 minutes walk... it's ok when you have someone to chit chat with but it's a fairly long walk if it rains or if it's hot. Site: found it quite easily once you reach A Square. You see the big wooden palisade that is shown on their website. We wanted to get a massage as well but everything was booked out that day (Friday evening, around 5PM I think). So book in advance if that's what you really want. Entrance to the onsen only is 450 THB. If you combine it with a Thai massage, it's only THB 750 if my memory is good, which includes the facility usage. It's clean, it looks new, lots of attendants, both males and females. You pay for the entrance and you get a locker room key. An attendant takes you to some kind of a room where you sit down, take off your shoes and exchange them for slippers. Then you walk back out to the front and off you go to the main area. There, it will split between male and female area. Another attendant gives you a big towel to dry yourself at the end and a small towel (Japanese/Taiwanese style for those who know) that you can take with you in the wet area.Lots of locker rooms where every body changes and gets naked. It's a fully nude onsen, the way it should be.You then enter the wet area where you find lots of shower stools with the little plastic stools to sit on. Maybe 24 of them. Once all cleaned up, you can proceed. It looks just like the pictures, except that when we arrived, it was still day light and it doesn't look as cozy as the pics.Anyway, you got it all there, hot bath tubs (37-41 degrees, some thermometers are not giving the exact temperature...) with or without bubbles, a soda spa (go check their website for more details), a cold pool (19 degrees I think?), a bit steam room in a corner with two glass panels. So basically you can see outside and the people soaking in the hot pools outside can see inside. Then you can walk out. It has a little patio with plants. There you will see a few resting long chairs (not super comfy and there are just 5 or 6 of them, way not enough). In the middle there is another hot pool. And on a side, the sauna, fairly big with a big glass panel as well so that you can see outside (similar to Spa1). And next to the resting chairs, two wooden tubs where you can soak individually. Crowd: It was not too crowded when we got there, maybe 10 people? Mostly 40+ I would say. But then, after office hours, around 6, it got really really crowded. Lots of locals surprisingly, again 40+ but also a fair amount of younger ones, maybe between 20-35? Some came in groups of 2 or 4, some came alone. There is definitely a slight cruising atmosphere as most of the patrons there were gay, according to both our gaydar lol. But don't go imagining things, you can't do anything there :smokin: All in all a good experience but I wish there was a bit more cooling and resting area. The pools are so hot that it makes the soaking very quickly uncomfortable haha. But it's still less hot that Chuan Tang in Taipei for example. But at least there, if you go during cool seasons, you can sit up on the edges and cool down. In Bangkok, it's just hot in and out haha. I would definitely go back there next time I visit. Near the entrance to the male and female pools there is a small glass panelled area where you can enjoy an ice cold beer. I find that refreshing after soaking in hot water. But of course this is in the public area so you have to wear the Japanese robe provided. Any eye candies?

Yeah I saw that little air con room but it doesn't look that welcoming And somehow it's just more fun when the air temperature is cool and you soak in a hot water basin.... Bangkok is 30 degrees and you soak in a 40 degrees water basin lol. Double sweat Never the less, it was an enjoyable visit and yes, there were a few eye candy
IkuTube
The weather in BKK, for the last 7 days, has been mostly cloudy. Though there's rain (almost everyday), it usually does not last long. The good thing, it makes the city less hot and humid. Choosing the hotel to stay in BKK is a lifestyle choice. Silom area, in my opinion, is more a place for gay activities. There are few reasonably good hotels around this area. There is the Colonade (about 5 minutes walk to BTS Sala Daeng and MRT Silom). Of course to pick Dusit Thani is most convenient. One BTS station down at Chong Nongsi, there are more hotels. Alternatively, to stay at Sukhumvit and Asoke area, is the next best thing. My favourite hotel here is the Grande Centre Point at Terminal 21. It connects to Terminal 21 shopping centre and BTS Asoke and MRT Sukhumvit. Alternatively, there is Sheraton. There are many more hotels around this area. Visiting Thailand during her Amazing Thailand Sales is a good time (usually in July/August). For those who prefer to shop at BKK's Departmental Stores, try Central at Phahon Yothin and Robinsons at Phra Ram 9.
