Wilaemina
I am currently in Bangkok, staying at Novotel Siam Square, very near the intersection that they blocked off and the entire road along the BTS is also blocked but the atmosphere is rather carnival in nature. The Singapore embassy has not issued any safety directive and just advises all Singaporeans to exercise caution. For me, as long as the crowd starts to get a little rowdy, I will make my way back to the hotel quickly. As of this moment, it's still fine, just came back from Jatujak market and planning to go there again tomorrow.

Enelym1978
By the way, Cathay Pacific's sales are on right now: SIN-BKK return for $268 all-in. Dates I tried: April 10-14 (Songkran dates). SQ has a new codeshare partnership with Ethiopian Airlines (another Star Alliance member), which adds one more trip to BKK ex SIN but the flight times are a bit off.... good if you don't want to take a day off and want to fly off to BKK on Friday night after work: SIN-BKK: 22:45-00:05 +1BKK-SIN: 14:25-18:15 Book on Ethiopian, is cheaper lol. Codeshares are the hidden gems for airlines Example: book on Ethiopian and you pay $351, but if you book on SQ, flying on exactly that same flight operated by Ethiopian, you end up paying $1970 (!) Did the same for a SIN-KUL flight: book on Malaysian and you pay half the price, and still fly on a SQ plane

Guest burger
Business is as usual. However shopping centers, bts and mrt have setup security check and barriers. The street vendors have also taken this opportunity to setup-raninging frm food to clothing. Although the major roads are been blocked, you can still travel using their public transport. Do avoid these areas when they are having rallies by the leader n weekends as the areas become crowded. They have free food n drink n medical services on standby 24hrs. They even have mobile toilets on the road for their supporters. Each day at diff area they hav stages with programmes lineup for their supporters n live music entertainement for those who camped are the area. Bbk is still safe n hope the army will not step. futaki
Hi guys...As promised, my 'live report' from bkk...So far so good... me and my bf are currently staying at citadines sukhumvit 16, near Asok BTS station. - There's currently a huge stage set up in the middle of the junction. One of many stages set up for the demonstration. There's quite a number of tourists here. But obviously, not as much compared to normal...- At most hot spots, traffic is blocked and diverted around the demonstration area.- When entering buildings, shopping centres, MRT sations or demo areas, bags are checked, go thru scanners or a person is being pat down. This is to avoid any mishaps from occuring.- As for curfews, i personally feel it's not enforced. But it's still safe to hang out, i guess.Other than that, you as a tourist are allowed to roam freely. Now, it's time for me and my bf to head to Tawan now!Cheers! futaki
Hmmm... let's see...Quite a short distance walk from Sala Daeng BTS station... just walk along the main road night market. Passby the christian hospital then make a right turn into the alley once u see standard charter bank.U cant miss tawan bar due to the huge signage. We went in, just in time for the show. The show is kinda cheesy. For example, since cny is around the corner... for one of the skits, they had the guy dressed in an emperor's clothing, with him flanked by 2 'concubines'. They were about to get it on by blindfolding and tying the emperor's hands. Then, these concubines were taken by the enemies. Then the enemies decided to torture the emperor by groping him all over and eventually, sucked on the emperor's huge dick!Other skits includes a fuck show, an even more chessy dance cum bj and a jerk off competition...Personally, i felt really uncomfortable with the whole thing and it was not a turn-on at all. Perhaps it's due to my nervousness and being a first-timer to these type of man shows. Though my bf was cool with it... lol...Then after show is over, 95%of the crowd disappears and the rest of the bodybuilders come up on stage. Since it's my bf b'day, i let him choose the guy he wants for our threesome. Took quite some time for him to choose though. Like a kid in a candy store! Lol... Guest Singaporean @ Bangkok
25/26 Jan Weekend @ Bangkok:Arrival was quick & easy with immgration clearance at ASEAN counter (many other tourists queue at normal All Passports counter). The following places are blocked:- intersection junction of MBK & Siam Paragon, and road in front of Siam Centre- intersection junction of Terminal 21- intersection junction of Silom & Sala Daeng train stations, and partial road block along PatpongHuge tentages are erected at these junctions, with many camping tents under them. Rallies are on-going, day and night. Many stalls are setup along the blocked roads, just like another roadside bazaar. Many protest related things are up for sale; t-shirts with "Bangkok Shutdown or Restart Bangkok" prints (limited edition haha...), accessories, shoes, handphone covers, etc. Tourists are seen everywhere. Business as usual inside the shopping centres. MBK somewhat has a smaller crowd of visitors though. Chatuchak is still very much happening and buzzling with visitors. Normal operations for MRT & BTS. Personally I would say the situation I experienced there during my stay was controlled, non-rowdy, non-tense, peaceful protests. Besides the road blocks, I feel that BKK is still very much the same like all my previous BKK trips. For those who are going to BKK soon, do keep yourselves updated on MFA's advice on the situation. Guest Guest
The situation is not tense only because the government is holding off on their supporters coming into the city. What the protestors want is for the army to step in and marshall law imposed. The army is anti Thaksin. If the government supporters were to come into the city, there will be fighting. I think the next point to watch would be next month, when the general election is supposed to be held. It sounds like it will be postponed but even then, what happens then? There seems to be no solution and surely things cannot continue as is?
jingli
There have been only smallish pockets of violence happening here & there. Nothing, really, that worrisome. Actually the pasar Malam from the cordoned off area is colourful & full of merchandise for bargaining. As tourists like others, we just soak in. But stay awhile & go. After all, whatever propaganda on stage is "mai kow jai"!

The crowd in dj was very thin..... Last Saturday in BKK I travelled by public transportation (buses) to the east part of town without any problems. There I went to DejaVu sauna, which had its "fucking party" event, and the place filled up with a big crowd of local guys most probably students at the nearby large university. In this crowd of all naked bodies I could not discover any political unrest as I had my hands full of Thai flesh. There was such a lack of inhibition that I place the event on the top of the list of orgies I have participated. Maybe those young guys decided to forego dancing at dj and instead resigned themselves to wildly fuck each other.  At least they have some good choices. So far, I gladly take the unrest if the level of fun still stays so high.

Steve5380
hi steve,  you are so adventurous... how do u know your way to dejavu? it looks super far from any bts.. do u speak thai? Yes, I am adventurous.  I took the MRT to the station Lat Phrao, and from there a bus along this street Lat Phrao until its soi 122 ( a long straight-line), which is where DejaVu is about half a block south.  This was the first time I took a bus in Bangkok.  A "very interesting" experience.  I was helped by Google Earth (to see details of the street to know where to alight the bus) and transitbangkok.com (to see which buses covered this stretch and with what schedule.  And the experience was worth the adventurousness.  (It helps to be adventurous when going to a place like a sauna,  because on feels of having deserved to get the guys one likes) I don't speak Thai.  But I noticed something interesting:  the Thais seem to be like the French in that they understand English but don't want to show it!  I asked the bus driver in English if he was going  all along Lat Pharao,  and he nodded. HE was given too early as after the entire session barely reached 90min. He has the cheek to request 200 baht more for the tips which is supposed to be only 1000 baht in the room. Don wan to argue with him just gave and left the place... Quite a different experience at Uniman. Was massaged by Pom and he took his time to massage me well, before asking if I want to be fked. Â My experience was different than what you had at Uniman. Â I went to one of these gay saunas in the Ramkhamhaeng area. Â One of the cutest locals grabbed me and lead me to a room, Â where in the heat of making love we must have massaged for an hour or so. Â Following his desire I gave him a great fk, and...
