Guest Guest
Hi! Like to spend Christmas at Pattaya. Any advice or recommendation ? Is it a Christmasy place? Unlike Bangkok, Pattaya is not very safe after midnight. So make sure you are not alone.

Exynos
hey guys, I'll be heading to Bangkok alone from 18th to 24th. it's actually my first time going alone and as an adult so I have so many questions! 1) where should I buy a SIM card? i don't need calls and SMS-es, just data will do. I read on hardwarezone that I can buy one online and collect it at the airport there, is that good? 2) I'm still a student with okay-money but not that much to splurge. I do however plan on visiting at least one of the massage parlors. any recommendations? heard about Dr. Bear is it good? 3) gay bars/clubs pleaseeeee 4) my hotel is at the Sathorn view, so is that area generally good-ish like near the city or whatever? abang
I go for a thb299 happy tourist card..it should suffice for 7 days...you can get it at the airport...in fact, you see adverts of it while waiting to clear immigration

Buying a SIM at the airport is the easiest thing ever. All 3 big operators (AIS, TRUE, dtac) have their shops right outside customs. Just go there and see what they have on offer and what suits you best. Are you arriving at Suvarnabhumi (BKK) or at Don Mueang (DMK) airport? the above is for BKK, but they are also at DMK. Should you not get one at the airport for whatever reason, not to worry, you can get it easily at any 7/11 in town, which are literally et EVERY streetcorner. 2) Massages are really inexpensive. If you are looking for a gay massage with "extras" that will be a bit more (for the extras). Dr Bear is technically not with "extras", though it has happened there AND they offer the "organ-2" massage, which is a massage of penis and balls etc. However, that's not just a hand-job but a rather good and interesting massage. You can or cannot cum, the massage as such is not necessarily meant to make you cum. Dr. Bear is certainly worth a visit. I can give you info on many others, too..... There are reviews in this thread so try to search or scroll back in this thread for those. 3. Gay bars: there is "Soi twilight" where the go-go bars with boys for hire and shows are. Then there is Silom Soi 4 and Soi 2 whre there are normal gay bars and (in Soi 2) the dance club DJ Station. Everything is near BTS Skytrain Station Saladaeng. I'd suggest you check www.travelgayasia.com for listings and locations of bars etc. 4) Hotel: do you mean Sathorn Saint View? That is not far from BTS Skytrain Station Surasak, from where it is only 2 stops to Saladaeng, which is where the gay area (see above) is. So you're ok with that location. The big tourist highlights like the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Wat Arun are kinda of far away but very easy to get to by river boat, which you can catch at the Saphan Tasin pier, only one Skytrain stop from your Station Surasak. Super easy. So that's a short summary if info for you. Feel free to get in touch for more details or to meet up for a personal guided tour to gay life ;-) Yas1950

The Nantra Silom has some cheap single economy rooms and is right at the gay area of Silom. Might be slightly more expensive but saves you travel back and forth and is just more convenient. These cheap rooms are very small though, so if you want some more comfort maybe you're better off at the Sathorn Saint View, plus they even have a pool, so that might be nice to hang out and relax. All depends on your personal priorities

bkkuser
you mean waxing in general or crotch area in particular?Well waxing in general obviously is somewhat painful, but in the crotch area actually much less than you think. Other "normal" areas are much more painful in my experience. Though I haven't waxed the pubic hair above the penis, which I would expect to be more painful. Only have done everything below it (balls, perineum, butt crack), that was surprisingly OK.

bkkuser
maybe they made ass only a bit cheaper. Actually now that we talk about it I'm not really sure how much I paid for crotch and ass lol. My impression was that they don't go by a formal pricing schedule but by how much they have to do, if its not much they will ask a lower price. I have never negotiated the price before a treatment there, and what they quoted always seemed fair.
Guest waxingguy
Thanks bkkandy. Also for Dr bear massage, what's the price range like as compared to other massage with quote "extra service"? Dr bear doesn't have a website or any services they provide. Will be nice to know the ranges of services they have too..
CamperBoy
Anyway you guys should meet bkkandy! He is a very cool person to hang out with lol bkkuser
zzzzzzzz
Dr Bear has no extra service. Extra service depends on the feel of the masseur? I went there 4 times, only once has extra. Nevertheless, it's the best massage I have in a long time. Higher quality than many of the rest. If you prefer extra over massage, maybe some other places but if you value massage then head for Dr Bear, you may get a surprise haha
