2015 was there at Tawana hotel, most of the guest there are Japaness. I this the hotel owner is Jap too. My bf and me were so surprise when they up grade our room when we Check in. Most of the attraction like boys street are all walking distant. Nice place I would say. Two nights stay for us was too short to go around.

Has anyone stayed in Tawana hotel before? How was it?

I have stayed there a long time ago and it was a problem to bring a guest to the room, so if that's something you will want to do, I would not stay there. If that's no concern, it can be nice, especially as the have an outdoor swimmming pool

no not really near as in waling distance. To the best of my knowledge, there is not gay massage directly around that hotel.

Spa? As in sauna etc? They don't have that...

Hey all, I'm thinking of going to Thailand for work. I also want to go to the most "pro-gay" areas just because.

im thinking of chiang Mai but I'm not sure. I'm TRYING to avoid Bangkok cause I heard accommodations are hella expensive there.  Anyone has any recommendations for me?

lastly, sry for posting here. I figured I'd get the most response here since there's traffic here.

thank you!

If by $70 a night for a 4 star hotel is considered expensive for you.. Then can't help you much?

I wouldn't scream perfection. But it is a good hotel. Old but they have restored rooms at the new wing. It's close to the gay scene and train station (10 mins walk or so across Patpong or Tawan :P).

Skip the breakfast though. Better off eating street food.

Opposite Tawana there is Glitz Hotel. Cheap but a small hotel. Decent stay. If you want to spend $40 a night and still be near to the scene, I recommend this. Breakfast is cooked by a nice Thai lady. She would remind you of your grandmother. Lol that's what everybody says. Hahahah

You can bring guests into the hotel. But for Tawana, make sure you book the room for two persons.

You said bangkok hotels can be expensive. I'm trying to say it's cheap. So if $70 is considered expensive, then...

Ah. If anything im

looking to either rent a place or stay in a hostel. I'm not going there for a short holiday.

i said I heard accommodations are expensive in general relative to the income there. There are articles on it if I'm not mistaken.

wouldn't your choice of place first depend on finding work, rather than the availability of affordable accommodation? Unless you have work that can be done from anywhere, like online work, of course.

Anyway, while "expensive" depends on your definition of it (and your income), I wouldn't  worry too much about that. You can get a VERY decent modern, condo room with swimming pool for THB 20,000 even in the super expensive (gay) Silom area. In fact I happened to just look at some condos yesterday, one of which was brand new, SUPER nice, with incredible rooftop swimming pool for about 18-20,000 Baht for a 37 sqm room in Sathorn Soi 11 (which is very near Silom).

If you reduce your requirements regarding luxury and/or location, you can get rooms for much less than that.

im a teacher, so it doesn't really matter.

ah okay that's cool. So I'm assuming Bangkok is the most bangin' place for gay people there?

are there anywhere else that's gay friendly as well?

BKK being the biggest city, there is obviously most diversity in terms of gay life. Making recommendations is impossible, because it depends on what you like. I like big, bustling, somewhat messy 24-hour cities, so BKK is the place for me. If you like more chill places, Chiang Mai may be more appropriate. CM is nice and sure there is a gay scene there, but can't comment much as I have only visited once last year (and before that 15 years ago, so doesn't count). Other places, don't know, especially for purposes of living there....

I guess there is no really gay-un-friendly place in Thailand, but they do vary and differ in the degree of openness of gay life and activity. No problem walking down Silom holding hands with a guy, but in the more conservative countryside one just wouldn't do that (even as a str8 couple).

Glitz is really a budget hotel, with a little inexpensive "glitz" added to the decor which looked really good when it first opened.  As you say the highlight of the stay is Grandma serving her Pad Thai for breakfast.  Last time I stayed, the experience was far from satisfactory, the room I had booked was not available on arrival so I was downgraded. The decor was very shabby - room needed repainting and the glitzy poles that used to be at the corners of the bed had been ripped out - presumably by a couple in an act of passion - leaving an ugly hole in ceiling. On one day, they forgot to make my bed, replace towels etc. When I came back in evening, the guy behind reception told me they forgot and all staff had gone home. Eventually I forced him to close the reception and service my room himself. Finally I sent my laundry off and it was due back late afternoon but failed to arrive.  As I was leaving early next day this was problematic but was eventually solved at crack of dawn next day.  I have now completely given up on The Glitz - never again - but I do miss Grandma's Pad Thai for breakfast........

Awww shucks! That sounds horrible.

But i have to admit, their staff quality is lacking. Which is good if you have guests coming :D

You are right. Definitely a budget hotel quality. But not budget enough to look sleazy. That's my take of it. And it's close to the gay scene. So that's important. And Tawan! hhahaha

i am a very easy to please traveller. I don't expect my rooms to be made. But so far they did during my stay there. Last was in 2015 Nov. Rooms are okay. No view though. And frosted toilet door. Hahahah so don't stay there if you are going with a friend.

I came back from BKK recently. Being the muscle lover that I am, my 2 favourite places were tawan and hero. The entry fee for tawan has gone upnfrom a few years back, but they've improved the quality of their show! Definitely a must go if u wanna see muscle guy's performing :)

Hero was awesome too. Managed to get myself a musc tattooed fella to gimme a massage for 30 min and some extras for another 30min:) 1700 baht though. Nonetheless, I tthinkit was money well spent. Haha.

Just my 2 cents' worth!

Best hotel to stay in, Babylon! Or if u don't want a gay establishment but still want to be close to walking distance to Soi Twillight, then stay at Silom Serene. It's a nice hotel, clean and everything and within walking distance to the gay party area.

I miss BKK. Love going to Babylon or men's factory. Or just clubbing at DJ Station.

I think it is still 500-600 at BBB Inn. My guess would be similar at Surawong Hotel, but I really don't know about that one

Thanks! Just wondering if I happened to you know.. hahha

I will be going with some friends on my next trip. Perhaps it could be cheaper if I just get the cheapest hotel room at Glitz. LOL can spend one night away from my friends with... lol

Hello, I've been doing some research and it looks like in terms of cleanliness and service, Dr Bear, Banana Club and Prime is the best. Does anyone have any honest options bout this places? And how much would it roughly cost? Also, what would be a reasonable amount for tipping?

Thanks guys! :)

You will find plenty of opinions about these places on the site www.gaythailand.com.

Can anyone tell me what Hero is like? where is it? and what happy ending/extra services they provide?

Sukhumvit soi 11 right down the end (on the left fork), it's one of the best massage places if not the best, happy ending is what you ask for and the boy agrees to and could be anything from just a HJ to full on sex. If you are heading that way byt the BTS get off the BTS at Nana and get one of those motor bike taxis to take you there, they all know where it is

can't really compare Dr. Bear to Hero and Banana. Hero and Banana are "full service" massage, i.e. it always includes sex which is why they have a minimum tip. No minimum tip at Dr. Bear, and whether or not you get a HE depends on the masseur (and you), although the organ-2 massage can easily make you cum of course. Tip at your discretion.

Prime is a decent place n the massage is very good. The only stupid thing is that the massage room is very cold n they can't seem to do anything about it. My masseur was brushing against my cock but I can't get hard cos of the cold. He probably thought I'm straight.

I always tell them it's too cold, and sometimes they find a remote for the aircon and adjust it, or they simply shut the air vent by hand, so that almost no cold air comes out, that does the trick. I agree, I hate it when it is too cold. The body gets easiyly cold when just lying there motionless for an hour or two, whereas the hard working masseur obviously doesn't feel to cold at all.
