How Often Do You Do Facial?

i have been going facial since 1996.

i don't go monthly but on/off depending if i signed package or if i like the services. Else, i DIY myself.

In 1996, it was done by an auntie, home based. Cheap and good , until she no more doing.

In 2008, I have tried those package one. $1200 for 30 tickets(30 trips) in some famous facial shop. So when u go the 2nd visit, they will tell u - hey sir, u wanna try bird nest one. u combined 3 tickets, additional $100 cash. its very good. blah blah blah.      then 3rd trip, u want try this, 2 tickets, extra $200.

Soon, i total signed up $4800 of package but alot of promises from them. In the end, i don't see any special results. waste of my money.

Often i do it at home.

As i have been taking care of my face, i look minimum 6 years younger than my actual age. No one ever guessed my age correct since 1996 and its common that ppl guess my age as 10 years younger. However, sad to say, face can look young, body cannot when age is catching up. will start to ache here and there. LOL....

Hi Benedict5856, can share some tips how do you  DIY facial? Thanks.

Sure.

Note - my daily care may not be suitable for all kinda skins.

I have normal skin, meaning oily T-zone.

When i come out from national services in 199x, i totally stayed away from the sun. Thus i have fair complexion after that. Sunlight will spoil our complexion. U can apply Spf 15, 20, 30 or all kinda sunblock, in fact its useless bcas we cannot be constantly apply sunblock when we are perspiring. 1-2 time of damage from the sun, takes a long time to recover.

There are many brands of facial. i used lower price range, those available at supermarket and more expensive one in departmental stores.

After trying, some products has a silky feel, like moisturiser inside. I do not like it. My face feels dirty. These are usually lotion type facial wash.

In fact, after trying, my favourite is SOAP BAR. my face feels cleaner but not totally clean. I will re-wash again. Take note- the soap will thoroughly wash away all oil on my face. At times i will wash 3 times. then my skin will be abit dry. So i will continue to rub, all the dead skin will be rubbed away.

If u guys notice, most ppl will have smooth body, but many ppl will have bad complexion. We will not hesitate to rub away dead skin on our body everyday with our fingers but not on our face. However, i would do it and every few days. After i finish, i MUST put moisturiser. the moisturiser must be a stronger type, meaning my skin will not feel dry after that.

what brands, it really depends to individual ppl.

soap, i use dettol soap.

moisturiser- olay 7-in-1.

This 2 works for me, but may not for u.

sadly recently i been catching fish on weekends beginning of the year, my face become abit tan.

I used to have a fair, rosy cheeks which alot of GIRLS compliment. The sad thing is bcas i always avoid the sun, i don't enjoy a SUNNY BOY lifestyle bcas i want to protect my skin.

In short, i believe getting rid of dead skin, like how we do on our body, our face will be clearer. it works for me....

Once a while, u can put those mask for whitening or moisturising.

Once a while go for those cheap facial, where they can thoroughly remove all yr black heads. Of course we can DIY but at times we do have the proper equipment. Pay abit, get pampered, but don't expect miracles that u can come out of the salon looking good.

Start right.

ALWAYS avoid the sun bcas its the most harmful to our skin. eg. it takes 1 second to cut yrself, take few weeks to heal and it may leave a scar. So after u damage yr skin, dont expect u apply alot of branded stuff, u will look good.

Many pple mindset here still cannot "open up", they dun accept guys who spend time on dressing up, facial, use a few facial products etc, they feel tis is too girly thing.

I think it depends on which brand really suits your skin. it's trial and error. there are some people where 3 sgd moisturizer is enough for them while there are some which is suitable for the more expensive brands.

Guys in local tropical climates should just wash their face with a good non drying cleanser. Soap is too harsh. I recommend SebaMed or Simple brand. Then a toner for problem skin or sensitive skin and a light moisturiser. Nivea cream or La Mer for that matter is too rich for South East Asian climates. I even stopped using SK-II (Normal or the Men's range). I hardly go for facials. I think maybe once a year ..?

When I was in Europe, I bought Dr Haushka out of necessity due to restricted baggage limit when travelling on trains. I only bought the Cleansing Cream, Toner, and Rose Day Cream Light. Dr Haushka's philosophy was that one do not put anything on at night as the skin rejuvenates overnight. You may use toner but nothing else. I thought, how can? That was after years of lugging all my creams and stuff about (SK-II for example)..

And you know what? After 3 weeks, my skin improved so much that I got rid of all my other stuff.. (my heart aches as I threw everything away). Dr Haushka is expensive in Asia (I just stock up when I'm in Germany) but they're worth it.
