Yeah. Sad Sad. I ordered my Jicky overseas. The civet is similar to Ungaro II :)

I like Carnal Flower (Tuberose overdose) and Fracas too. It might be cloying if the weather is too hot or too humid. So I wear it only at night or in air con room. Gris Clair is nice too - smoky lavender.

Where do u guys spray the purfume on? On the clothing or on the skin and which part do u all spray on??

I usually spray on my wrists and then rub them against my neck (near the throat/lymph nodes), I read somewhere abt applying perfume this way~

I'll also spray once or twice on the air above me so that the scent will settle on me. I avoid spraying directly on my clothes, unless its one of those mild/faint scents.

There's always another secret.

If I am not wrong, Hermes re-released them and I saw them in Hermes boutique last time. You might want to check there and at the same time check the Hermessence series :)

Truth be told, I dont really like scents from the Hermessence series!

Oh man, I was downtown just now and caught a whiff of this guy using Joop! for men. He seriously reeked.

Oh Haha :) Btw, have you tried Sécrétions Magnifique (by Etat Libre d'Orange). I am dying to try this one but definitely I am not going to buy this blind. Too dangerous :(

Hermessence tends to be airy and light (but long lasting). My favorites are Vetiver Tonka, Vanille Galante, Osmanthus Yunnan and Iris Ukiyo-e.

Have you tried the Cartier exclusive Les Heures du Parfum series?

Thats why I dont like them! :D Dont like airy and light. Prefer them musky, woody and/or oriental scents.

Little wonder why I like S. Lutens.

Havent tried Sécrétions Magnifique. Ditto for Cariter's Les Heures du Parfum.

Btw, I absolutely HATE AMEN by T Mugler - Ugh. Smells rancid and cheap. And Gaultier's Fleur du Male. Ick.

You know, I like the way my cat smells. He smells...I dunno... NUTTY!

I'm not a very perfume person and is curious... Have heard abt the apply on pulse points thing also.. So what's the purpose of doing that? Will it get absorbed into our body?? Isnt perfume very concentrated and strong chemical.. Would this have any negative impact on our bodies??

You should also try Montale (the Aoud series. Heavy and can be cloying in hot weather) and Tom Ford Private Collection (black series).

Hehe. I have only tried Amen 1x. How about Le Male by JPG? I thought it was very popular among the community.

Another qns... What's the diff btw edt and edp?? Most of the scents I see are edt...

edp (eau de parfum) has higher concentration of perfume oil than eau de toilette and tends to last longer. The basenotes of edp are more accentuated and the top notes tend to be tone down a bit. EDP tends to be pricier too.

Most male fragrances are edt (except selected few i.e. Narciso Rodriguez for Men, Terre d'Hermes, Creed Millesime series and other unisex fragrances)

In order of concentration of perfume oil:

Extrait/Pure parfum > Eau de Parfum/Parfum de Toilette > Eau de Toilette > Eau de Cologne

WOW! Looks like there are a lot of perfume connoisseurs out here! I would love to try Serge Lutens and Hermessence. And I recently fell in love with Givenchy Play. You can find that at Sephora Ion. Le Male by JPG is just a classic but the newer Le Male Terrible is sharper and even better. Try that out too. :)

Fleur De Male just might be the worst perfume ever made!

i have a thing for heady oriental incense-sy driven perfumes.

Yves Saint Laurent Opium, Chanel's Sycomore, Guerlain's Shalimar and Jean Patou's Ma Liberte.

they kinda of capture gypsy-campfire vibe in their essence.

oh well the devil makes us sin but we like it when we're spinning, in his grin.

They're all women's perfumes right?

i habitually decant them when comes to wearing them.

they have a stronger sillage and weirdly do have notes which is suitable for men's fragrances.

shalimar is usually marketed for women's but universally its unisex after it settles into its skin/leather and velvet notes.

its like somehow have this effect smelling like your skin but better.

chanel's sycomore has that woodiness from vetiver which echoes with the resonating violet. smokiness from the tobbaco and sandalwood makes a smokey and relaxed background. I see it as dark intense and long lasting and more readily appreciated by a man rather than a woman.

YSL's Opium is a vast brick of smoldering resin and spice. Once you get over the top notes (slight flushing of rose, but its in the background in this production), the myrrh and sandalwood just rise to the occasion. carnation (not the floral variety note) has a slight animalistic quality which is empowered by the clove in the fragrance.

i mean, these are definitely quality oriental scents which so different in comparison of generic and easily marketable scents in the market now.

however, to each his own. open mind, open heart and put aside gender issues, welcome to perfume exploration.

oh well the devil makes us sin but we like it when we're spinning, in his grin.

I am using cheap Eau de Toilette from SilkyMen  . But I do like the musky, sweet smell. Any perfumes that smells musky and sweet?

(Anyway, I think the best perfume is your own pheromones ;) )

BOSS Bottled by Hugo Boss. have been using this for the past 3 years for formal or special occasions.

and my crush picked it out for me then, so...it's kinda special to me, the fragrance.

OH OH the new one from Hugo Boss is nice too, the one in a black flask-design bottle.

it smells strong at first, but settles down nicely after a few hours. :thumb:

stiffneck: if you like something, I seriously think you dont need other peoples approval for it. It is perfectly ok to like Polo Blue.

BUT, if you ask me if I like Polo Blue, I wld say, Nope! I dont like it and many other blue fragrances for that matter. Polo Blue, imho smells like every other fresh-aquatic scents available out there. I uusally dont care much for such fragrances with the exception of Creeds Virgin Island Water and its Green Irish Tweed (which smells like a much nicer and smoother version of Davidoffs Cools Water).

At this very moment right now, Im using Equipage by Hermes.

Yesterday, I sprayed on Chanels Coromandel.

The day before, Carnal Flower. Im now in Montreal and it`s Autumn. CF smells so much better here in cool weather.
