Then the same could be said of those who disparage a particular sauna are actually linked to that sauna's competitors or somehow don't like the person/people operating the sauna for and seek to undermine their business.

Please, let's be rational here and judge a comment on its own merits and not assume to know what is the intention behind making that comment. If I say I don't like the high prices of some of the saunas, it just simply means it's too much for me to pay and i should find alternatives.

If I say I like a particular theme, service or facility of a sauna, it means I enjoy having those when i visit it and that sauna is doing something that I like. It may not be something that others like but it's MY experience and i wish to tell others of it.

Just like advertising, i'm sure one can tell what's percentage of the advert is true and how much of it is really just hot air after trying the product yourself.

PS: For those of you who have a bit too much imagination or don't really get the point of this message: maybe I'm one of the moderators trying to help GM, maybe I'm a fan and is trying to get GM into my bed, maybe I'm even GM himself posting under another nick. So many maybe's and so little time eh?

I thought of writing a field report after visiting the 'new' diamond yesterday but, hey, I really dont think I have seen anything drastically new there to merit such a report. The sense of deja vu was very apparent as I walked into the sauna. At first glance, the tv reception area is exactly the same. Maybe I was expecting some little changes here and there after reading about their 'renovation' plan. The mature reception guy is new though and quite pleasant (most of their old stuffs including massuers are back). The first sign of change can be glimpsed in the locker area. The wall has been painted a moody blue. It kinds of make the space even smaller. And the obvious paint smell and smudges can been seen at the edge of the wall and even on the lockers door. Also some tell-tale sign of recent paint job from the paint flakes on the carpet. The big shower area is the same, nothing has been done there. Except that the volume from the tv can be heard now (they used to mute the tv for some strange reasons). Another obvious change is the walkway at the back- it's been scrubed clean (no more unsightly stains and suspicious marks). And, yes, there's a new tv set in rest area next to the rooms. And the rooms are cleaner and less smelly. But, sigh, only mattresses on the floor. So, for those looking to re-capture the old spirit of Diamond, there's much to cheer. Everything is still the same. The change, although welcome, is hardly noticeable. For those expecting slightly more might be dissappointed. Come on, DHC management, surely you can afford to convert at least two rooms with proper beds. And when you re-coup your profit, you can slowly add in more beds to other rooms as well. Thas's my main bug with them. Surely not too much to ask for. And the lone computer is not working too. :oops:

So, I dont think the new Diamond is really new at all. Just a change in the management team. When I was there yesterday, the crowd seemed noticeably thinner (maybe many still unsure it's still operating or what). I also noticed that the reception uncle would make regular 'checks' in the room, I suppose, to make sure the rooms are tidy and all. BUT seeing him 'patrolling' up and down the room corridor and even the dark room at 5 to 10 min interval was really a little too much. We customers need some privacy too. And please if he's just doing some housekeeping duty, keep it at half-hourly 'patrol' and please take along some rags or black trash bag as he goes about his duty. Going about his duty from room to room with nothing is surely inefficient. He certainly cannot wipe away the sperm stains on the mattresses with his bare hands!

So, we welcome the old diamond back to our arms. BUT more should be done to keep your old customers back. I wish the DHC team good luck.

If I am not wrong, the sauna regulation in Singapore dictates that the rooms cannot be lock. It is supposed to assist in spot checks from the authorities.

I have not formed an opinion on the new charges that are being implemented - charges vary according to entry day and time. I suppose it is one way to make more money to pay for what, I hear, is an increase in the rental. I dont know about the others here but I prefer to go when it is relatively crowded. The charges being time dependant will probably have some impact on when people come through and when it gets busy. I will have to find out when it is busy and visit accordingly.

Something that no one has mentioned but that I am sure is on everyones mind is if Singapore is large enough to support the likes of two "Diamonds". When the new new Diamond opens, people being people will head to the new place, if nothing but to check things out. Will people prefer the new new Diamond or will they prefer the new Diamond? Only time will tell. Whatever the outcome, I do hope at least one is left standing. It would be sad to not have at least one sauna that caters to this niche market.

Thanks for your feedback on the bird droppings on the wall and we have got it washed immediately and will ensure that it is kept clean at all times.

As for the new charges that you mentioned, I wonder if you are a new customer or a regular customer during the old Diamond management time before we took over. I want to CLARIFY and to AVOID untrue nonsense spreading around, there is no new charges and the charges are still the SAME AS BEFORE. We did not have any price changes at all.

Just to let you know, we do not need any price increases to pay for the rental increased at all. If you want to tell everyone on a true and correct statement, please don't hear it from someone else, please get it directly from me.

Please take note that when we brought over the entire business including its NAME to operate at the same premises, we have that every proper right to use it to maintain the old branding at Sultan Plaza. We still operate as per the old way as many of our regular customers still prefer the discreet, friendly, spacious, care-free, relaxing and clean atmosphere. If the previous management want to set up at another place, they are welcome to do so as competitions are good for any kind of businesses. I believe there is always a niche market to cater for different group of customers and they can choose where they want to visit as long as the saunas they visisted can make them satisfy and happy after each visit.

I, on the other hand, never felt that the aircond was too cold. It's just nice and would instantly feel uncomfortable if the temperature is raised up. That shows you can't please everyone all the time. Tough one, eh?

The steps leading to the hot pool tends to be abit slippery and can be quite dangerous for old people...or maybe even young people..

I was there on Sunday night...and I slipped when walking down the steps and had a hard fall...my buttocks n back still hurts till now...

Can the management consider putting anti slip mat on the steps to prevent any serious accident from happening?

For someone who has less flabber, everything will seems hot even when the air-con is blasting.

For those who are lean & mean, even a little cold will make you feel like you are in a freezer.

If it's cold, at least people can wrap themselves in towels but if it's too warm, even walking around naked will not help. So my verdict is that the temp should be set lower.
