Guest a
Bryax, are you saying that this anonymous test site is run like the Kelantan road , AFA run and funded anonymous HIV test site, where absolutely no IC numbers are recorded, no addresss recorded, and no contact tracing is done, and one who found out they are positive at this clinic, they will not be referred to this minsitry of hell (pun intended) . If all the above is true , can i say Thank you to Dr. Tan and partners, who allowing his clinic after office hours to be set up as an alterantive yet hip place to get tested. After testing, glam gays can drop by at Robertson walk for dinner and drinks to talk over their experience over some wine and have some eye candy too at the ang moh at robertson quay. Thanks. briax
Hey there, Dr Tan and Partners clinic at Robertson Quay has been running the anonymous HIV testing for the past years. It is known as the "3 steps" test. As we know that many gay, bisexual or Msm used Dr Tan clinic for the HIV anonymous testing, we decided to work with Dr Tan so that the patients can use the waiting time for the result and talk to a counsellor. It wouldn't be a very long conversation but we hope those who have concerns about their health or sexuality, can have a chat with us. briax
In a way, Dr Tan and Partners also feel that it is important for gay, bisexual and Msm have someone to talk to and is suppprting Oogachaga work by letting us use their space. briax
Hey folks, I am glad that this opens a conversation about HIV anonymous testing. Let me take the opportunity to clarify about Anonymous HIV testing. Just to assure you that I m saying that right thing, here is from the HPB website about anonymous HIV testing.http://www.hpb.gov.sg/HOPPortal/health-article/6368 What is anonymous HIV testing?Anonymous HIV testing does not require you to provide any names, NRIC numbers or contact numbers. Instead, a number is usually assigned to the test which allows the person being tested to receive the test results. No personal particulars are recorded, even with positive results of the HIV tests. You will be required to fill in an anonymous questionnaire so that you can inform more about yourself but all details will be kept strictly confidential. Why do we need anonymous HIV testing?Anonymous HIV testing encourages more individuals who might suspect that they are at risk to go for early HIV testing. In 2007, 30 per cent or 131 out of 423 HIV cases reported were detected through anonymous testing. Anonymous HIV testing offers a level of privacy and confidentiality that encourages more people to find out about their HIV status. Early HIV testing helps to control the spread of HIV as people living with HIV/AIDS can take appropriate measures to protect their partners from being infected. It also allows them to seek to seek early treatment and care. How is anonymous HIV testing done?Rapid HIV test kits are used in anonymous HIV testing. The results of rapid HIV tests can be available within 20 minutes of doing the test. The results of a conventional (Western blot) HIV blood test can take up to two weeks. Rapid testing reduces the anxiety associated with the long waiting period for an HIV test result. It also allows the result to be informed to the patient in person on the same day, eliminating the need to collect any form of personal particulars or contact information. In additional to points above: Dr Tan and Partners is approved by MOH as one of the ten anonymous HIV testing sites available in Singapore. All you need to do is let the receptionist know that you are doing anonymous HIV testing or "3+1". The Oogachaga counsellors will only be available from 6 to 9pm on Fridays (starting from 11 July 2014), you can choose to remain anonymous during the conversations with the counsellors. briax
On 7/2/2014 at 5:38 PM, nogan said: something they miss out..if u seek treatment u no longer anonymous...can anyone confirm the link here how the process actually goes after the testing is true?. http://afa.org.sg/whatwedo/support/ats/moreinfo-ats/#toggle-id-2 On this point you are asking, this paragraph on the AFA explains:When you opt for local treatment, your results and particulars will still remain confidential, but no longer be anonymous. Only your doctor, counsellor and nurse will have access to this information. Facebook.com/Bryan Choong
briax
On 7/2/2014 at 6:35 PM, nogan said: so the link is true?that is how the whole process works?i think people also want to know what happens after the testing part is over so can u confirm whether the link i posted is right or not(afraid the link might be a wrong one or out dated).....thanks. ( i was not focusing on a point ,just the confirming of information in the link , that the after test process apply to all the anonymous testing process done in singapore) Hi Nogan, just wanted to be clear on what you are asking: a. The information provided on the link on AFA website is correct and is up to date. b. If you are seeking treatment from the local government clinic such as CDC at Tan Tock Seng Hospital or other local hospitals, it will not be anonymous. Your medical record will be kept confidential under the provision of Infectious Diseases Act. There are many others who seek treatments overseas in order to remain anonymous and out of the public health system. There are often pros and cons in these arrangements. The staff from AFA would be the right people one can seek further information. Facebook.com/Bryan Choong
