This is a Buddhists way to explain the six realm of existence. Each colour represent a specific realm and it is our merits/deeds in this current life that will propel us to our next destination.

When given human notions and definitions it is true that some realms are higher or lower, but strip of all human notions,prejudices and definitions all realms are actually neither actually better or worse than the others.It only serve as a training ground for us to experience and learn in different aspects and areas.

Anyway that is not important for me, I am not interest in where people will end up in their next lives. I ask people to take this quiz because I want to know what their heart is fill up with so I can either choose them as allies or enemies in this lifetime.

Actually, these are the 6 Buddhist realms of samsaric existence. The cycle of a person’s life is perpetrated by ignorance, greed, pride, anger and jealousy.

God Realm

Considered as the highest among the six realms of existence, it is characterized by the attributes of the Buddha. Enlightenment is considered to be easily attained in this realm; and everything sparkles with love and light.

Demi-god Realm (Jealous God Realm)

The second highest realm of existence is called the Demi-god realm, or the Jealous God Realm. It is believed to be the realm of Titans, Asuras, and is marked by jealousy and paranoia. Those born into this realm, though blessed with a high birth, are exceedingly jealous of the God realm and of each other. They are believed to spend most of their time fighting among themselves to compete.

Human Realm

Being born into the human realm is considered to be a very rare occurrence. It is only in the human realm in which liberation from all the six states is possible. The human realm is characterized by doubt and inquisitiveness and the longing for something better.

Animal Realm

The Animal Realm is characterized by ignorance which is equivalent to having a mind similar to that of an animal. The animal realm is nothing but suffering where there is no way in obtaining knowledge and taking steps towards enlightenment.

Preta Realm (Hungry Ghost Realm)

This realm is characterized by craving/desire. It is believed that in the hungry ghost or preta realm, the inhabitants suffer from a greed that can never be satisfied. They have huge stomachs but tiny mouths, food and water is very scarce and when a preta sees food or water they are so delusional that they believe they are seeing blood, bile and other disgusting things of that nature. And even if a preta finds food or water and is able to consume it, it burns their throat and stomach like fire.

Hell Realms

The lowest among the realms of existence is the hell realm. Buddhists believe that there are about 136 hells which are divided into “hot hells” and “cold hells”. The hell realms are looked upon as journey full of suffering; one born into this realm must not only endure suffering in their respective hell but also pass through each of lesser hells. This journey is supposed to take years to complete. In the course of which, even the Dharma is forgotten and even if it was remembered, the anguish is such that it makes practice impossible. The hell realm is characterized by acute aggression.Buddhists believe that each person is reborn in accordance with their respective actions (Karma) in their previous lives.

Criteria to be there is strong attachment to sex,lust and carnal pleasures.

As a human bless with higher thoughts and feelings but those who choose to ignore these gifts and choose to indulge in base desires shall be reborn as creatures with low intelligence and only base instincts. (Fucking for instance)

Yellow represent Human realm.

Criteria to be there is strong attachment to kinship,friendship,fame and glory etc.

Mortals who do not tired of the tapestry of human live of earthly relationships and personal ambitions are reborn here to experience the complexities and subtleties of a mortal existence.

Humans fill with such good traits and merits are rewarded a long life of perfect bliss and abundance free of worries and sufferings. There is a catch though, living a perfect existence will cause one to have no incentive to grow or seek further perfection, once their past merits is used up they will be reborn into a lower plane of existence to start over again.

Green represent the Asura realm.(Lesser god or demon realm) Criteria to be born here is strong attactment to hate,anger,regret and despair etc.

Humans who have good hearts and intentions but ultimately obstruct and taken hold by these poisons of life will be reborn here as all powerful beings with supernatural power and senses but they cannot find peace in their hearts because of indignations,injustice and Grievances that they refuse to let go.

Red represent the Hungry Ghost realm.(Preta Realm) Criteria to be born here are extreme greed and selfishness.Humans who are obsess with hoarding and accumulating material possessions without regard to other people plights and sufferings are reborn as beings with large hungry stomach yet tiny mouth and throat. Everything they touch burst into flames, everything they eat/drink scorch their mouth/throat/stomach. They will forever live an insatiable and painful existence for their past deeds.

Smoke represent Hell Realm.

Criterial to be born here is the delightment of persisting in doing evil. Killing parents etc.

Unlike other bad souls who sin due to weakness or ignorance this type of beings actually are aware of their actions and yet revel in their own extreme wickedness. They will be trap in an infinite void of nothingness without anything in sight except their own consciousness. They shall be trap here for untold eons, even til all gods perish, til the end of time and the birth and destruction of multiple galaxies.. They will still not be freed.

Do take note that in Buddhism, rebirth within the 6 realms (even in the Deva/God realm), one is still considered to be trapped in samsara or the wheel of cyclic existence and therefore one will still continue to suffer.

Even though it takes great merits to be reborn in the deva realm, a sentient being born in such a realm will still be reborn in a lower realm of existence when his/her merits are exhausted. It is expounded that the human realm is the best realm for cultivation in the attempt to break out of the cycle of rebirth because as humans, we experience both fortunate and unfortunate events - which is a great lesson to teach us about the impermanence of fortunate events and suffering to remind us to be diligent in our practice to end suffering.

Lower realms are not conducive for practice, e.g. Animals do not possess the clarity of thought as humans to further cultivate, whereas hell beings and hungry ghosts are suffering to such an extent as to make cultivation difficult. Devas in the higher realms enjoy consistent good blessings and may be complacent in their practice.

Do note that rebirth within within these realms occur so long one does not break out of the cycle of rebirth.

The only true test that I think can truly reveal the inner self is through the mah-jong table.....you will be able to see all the "true colours" revealing within one self by their mannerism and the way they play the game.....

 

I truly find the mah-jong test the most truthful test to human behavioural and nature.   

 

Colour test might not be truthful....as people might choose colour based on liking to that particular colour.

Many years ago I went to a local sauna after clubbing, I stood in a corridor posing. That corridor is a one way road meaning one has to take the same route in and out. I saw and count four person walking past me and went into the deep end of the corridor, three come out. I stood there for 15 min and the fourth guy still haven't come out yet. I was curious why he stay inside that dead end for so long when he is alone inside.

I went in and discover nobody was in there.

So tell me what happen to the fourth guy I saw earlier?

Hi guys, anyone stayed in Grand Diamond Suites Hotel in Bkk? Any experiences? Am going with my bf in mid Sep..... Hopefully will be a 'shunshun' trip. *cross finger.

Had my fair share of haunting experiences since I was a kid. Furthermore, I like to stay in corner room cos I disliked noises in the common area.

 

Once I insisted on having a hotel room in WaiChai, HK. The male occupant sure wasn't too please with me. 1st sent me an sms scolding me, then while I was bathing in the shower room, wrote the same message on the fogged mirror, scolding me yet again. I apologized and he stayed in the toilet for the remaining 3 nights that I stayed there. We "spoke" slightly. Apparently, he was murdered in the room.

 

The most recent experience I had was in Pan Pac hotel, JB, again a corner room, in front of the emergency exit. Already din feel good when I entered the room. when I looked out of the window, realized why, the Fengshui of the hotel wasn't very good, esp the corner that I was staying in. Couldn't sleep the whole night as the room above me was super busy whole night, moving furniture and the "kids" were running around from corner to corner. My friend who shared the room with me din hear anything. hahaha.....

I don't necessarily believe in those things and I've stayed countless times at the Grand Hyatt Taipei, famous for its giant charms at the entrance (still need to be proven that it's for spirits and not other weird stuff) and always slept like a baby.

 

The only time I experienced something as in Penang, Malaysia. Stayed at the Traders hotel with my Singapore flatmate, twin beds room. Before going to sleep, he was reading a magazine on his bed and I was about to sleep, my back facing him.

 

Suddenly I felt a hand on my neck, squeezing my neck for a short moment. So I used my hand and brushed it away with a "haha, funny" but then my friend said "what?" and when I turned around he was still under his sheets with his magazine on his knees....

 

So I explained what I just felt.... he did not manage to sleep that night.... I did lol.

The Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai sadly, now known for the infamous 26/11 terrorist attack, is haunted by the ghost of it's architect W. A. Chambers, the hotel’s chief engineer. Chambers travelled to France shortly before the hotel’s completion. He later returned to India only to find out that it was built in the opposite direction. First World Hotel, Genting Highlands, Malaysia



Genting Highlands, the famous hill resort in Malaysia, is also known as one of the most haunted places in Malaysia. Paranormal incidents have been reported at the First World Hotel. Given that it is a casino resort, a lot of gambling-related suicides have happened over the years. There are eerie sounds in the middle of the night as well as apparitions of restless spirits. Locals even claim that some hotel rooms are never rented out even if the hotel is fully booked because occupants fall sick after their stay. There were also reports that the lift never stopped on the 21st floor. The lift would either skip the 21st floor or would not even reach the 21st floor.

Grand Hyatt, Taipei, Taiwan

 

 Ghost stories about the Grand Hyatt Taipei are rooted in the hotel’s dark history. Apparently the hotel was built on a World War II execution ground and cemetary.. Guests of the hotel have allegedly seen ghosts in the corridors while others have heard strange noises from unoccupied rooms. Paranormal activities and rumors regarding the hotel have so negatively affected the business that management decided to consult Feng Shui experts. Chinese calligraphy and scrolls have since been installed in strategic places within the hotel in the hopes of warding off restless spirits. Many visitors swears that they saw a ghost at the top floor, and refuses to ever stay there again.

Tambun Inn, Ipoh, Malaysia



Tambun Inn is one of the favorite hotels in Ipoh, Malaysia. Apparently the tourists are not the only errant fools to the hotel. Scary creatures of the night allegedly wander the hotel as well. Many accounts of events have been documented ghosts. Some of these accounts have mentioned the light in and out; the sounds, whispers and screams heard disturbing the inn. There was also a report of a ghost of an elderly woman was discovered near the pension. 

Diplomat Hotel, Baguio City, Philippines



The Diplomat Hotel on Dominican Hill, Baguio City, Philippines is famous for being haunted by headless apparitions amongst other things. There were some visitors of the hotel claiming to saw headless figures carrying a platter with their severed damaged head on it, walking along the corridors wailing for justices. The abandoned hotel was the heaven for the paranormal and ghost hunters.

Hotel Pelabuhan Ratu, Indonesia



Room 308 in Samudra Beach Hotel was my main reason to go to Pelabuhanratu. I had read that Nyai Loro Kidul, the Goddess of the South Seas, has room 308 permanently kept empty for her.Legend has it that Nyai Loro Kidul lures fishermen to her love nest at the bottom of the ocean. She whisks away anyone who ventures into the sea, anyone wearing green. Swimmers are warned not to wear green and not to swim in the ocean and if drowning occurs they are attributed to this malevolent Goddess. 

The Savoy Hotel, Mussoorie, India


The Savoy, is a historic luxury hotel located in the hill station, Mussoorie, in Uttarakhand state of India, The Savoy Hotel, the inspiration of Agatha Christie's novel was the Mysterious Affair at Styles. The hotel offers not only a luxury but a constant supply of pure terror. His former owner, Lady Ormsby , who died allegedly from poisoning, is said to be the haunting opulent hotel. Scary creature of the night was to see to draw aimlessly the halls of his former hotel. 

Buma Inn, Beijing, China

The Chinese really take seriously these things paranormal. Anyone would be, if the event will include scary paranormal creatures of the night, the Berserker. Buma Inn in Beijing will be pursued by a ghost angry and seeks revenge. It was said that a guest died because the chef poisoned his food and then the chef stabbed himself. The terror is not over yet. Until now, the restless spirit of murdered Review pursues the hotel in search of the chef, who poisoned him. 

Here's some beliefs of the hoteliers : (believe it or not it's up to you)
Every single hotel, there shall be at least a permanent room which should be left vacant at all times. No matter how full the hotel are, they are not to sell that room(s) to any guest. It was said that special room was "reserved" for those "special visitors". So, if you plan to stay in some hotel, always book in advance. Try to avoid walk in.

If the receptionist tells you there are no more rooms available, do not insist one anymore or try to bribe them to give you a room. If you do that, most of the time the room you have will be that "special room".
Sometimes those "special visitors" might go to other rooms also, so here's some tips on how to protect yourself:

1.  Before entering your room, always knock on the door first, even you know the room is vacant.
2. After you enter the room, if you feel very cold suddenly and have goosebumps, leave the room quietly & immediately and go to reception to request a room change. Most of the time the receptionist will understand what's happening.
3. After you enter the room, immediately switch on all of the lights, and open the curtains to let the sun light in.
4. before you go to bed, arrange your shoes so that one of them is upside down. Some say this is representing yin & yang to protect you while you're asleep.
5. Always leave at least a lamp on while you're sleeping, preferably the toilet's lamp.
6. If you're staying alone and they have give you a twin bed, do not sleep with the other bed vacant, try to put your things like luggage on the other bed before you sleep.
