brought back some work from office. can kill 1-2 days of the time. might go jb alone 1 of the day too. doesn feel comfortable hanging out with big group of guys. overly obvious. haha! u guys enjoy! :D

From the 1st to the 3rd day is going to be quite anxious due to visitors coming. Anyone here "running away". Where will you go if you don't like crowds like malls or sentosa. If you go movie alone, will you be worried about how people think and stares? I can only think that swimming and jogging is the best option, but will these places open during Holiday? I am thinking of redhill swimming pool or Toa Payoh Swimming pool. What about gym? which gym and stadium opened until night time. I just need to tie over this hot season until the mood started to cool down a little.

I think those SSC gym & swimming pool usually close on 1st and 2nd day of CNY. But those gym like california open throughout CNY period, but wld close early like 8pm on 1st and 2nd day of CNY.

So i guess best is to go jogging, since u can do it anytime anyday. :)

Yes. website says SCC open on public holidays at that time.

Planning to go in a short while.

Still not bad, u managed to survive from CNY eve till today, already passed 3 days! Only 2 more days and u will be back to work on mon. Actually u shld take CNY as a gd time to get a gd rest & relax urself from work.

Maybe you're an orphan ... or from a broken family ...

Or you've been chased out by your family?

Or maybe you're a foreign student or worker ...

Or you're elderly and single ... or divorced with no children?

Care to share how you spend CNY eve alone?

Shall we reach out to these people and invite them to our homes to share our cosy reunion dinners?

Ya, True. Our word has become so robotic le. We need more cares for the different mankind.

I think if we know of someone, perhaps a friend or co-worker who'll be alone on CNY eve ... it'd be nice to invite him or her to join our own families for reunion dinner. Just feel so sad if anyone is left out all alone on such a special night when almost everyone is indulging in the joys of being home with loved ones.

i already did invited my worker a China man to come my house for dinner.. He told me he does not have enough money to go back to his wife and family.. how sad..

I think you are just paying lip service. If you are really concern of people who are alone during CNY, you can go to (1) Chinatown (2) Old Folks Home (3) Hospitals or (4) call National Council of Social Service to find out the list. My questions are:

(1) Will you call any of the above I mentioned?

(2) Will you or have you (if you know someone who is alone) invited someone to dine with you?

Maybe off topic. But I personally suggest not immediately assuming reunion dinners are all warm and sweet.

Remember that the worst feuds are family feuds. I have seen lots of "families" in which the reunion dinner is a cesspit of politics and blaming and frustration and reluctance. I had friends, colleagues, and yes, even kin, who see the reunion dinner as a painful obligation and spend the rest of the year badmouthing their relatives for the great inconvenience of going to the dinner. I have even encounter teenagers who used the reunion dinner to pressurize their parents to convert to Christianity, claiming that they cannot eat at a table with food possibly used for idol worship.

And remember too that some people may either prefer to be alone, or are unbothered about it. It is afterall, just a dinner. Something you do every night, 365 days a week.

Of course Singapore has many LONELY AND SINGLE people out there but I supposed TS meant GAY community that is why he posted in BW. Otherwise he would have used STOMP or other forums instead.

On the other hand, you can't really be lonely in Singapore on any other day festive or not. The person can visit HONG BAO river or soak in China town on New Year Eve and thereafter. Besides, not many people go out on CNY 1st day due to relatives coming for visit or rather stay indoor to watch movie alone. Nothing much to see outdoor on first day except in Sentosa or Marina Bay. As for Gay, I am sure Suanas are opened on CNY too? Singapore is no longer a quiet suburb, everywhere is so full of lives and noises the moment you stepped out. For your info, I visited the old Shogun on CNY, nothing much to see though but at least a place to get away to.

Yes am alone single but not lonely,despite my current disability i ccok n has since invite 2 single older Plu to come to my hse for dinner on eve of chinese new year,

To me sharing the joy of my food to other people is the warmest thing i like doing in this time of the yr.Though my siblings has invited me to join them i decline cos i want to be with the same group of people but we are not necesary lonely one.

Still got room for anyone who feels like joining me pls pm me. thk u n advance Happy Chinese New Year. to all here.

I'm having the same headache too!! :(

planning to catch a movie tomorrow evening, go jog at ECP on Sunday, and then laze around on monday, all alone of course...:(

Y didnt u ask ur friends out? Sure can find some friends out on either one of the holidays?! I think even cannot find friends, being alone during the 3 days also ok lah. Can do many things like sleeping at hm, watching tv, go for jog, go out walk walk ard, go to the riverhongbao at marina, go sentosa, go some hiking and nature walk etc.
