Alone During Chinese New Year Holiday? Where To Go? What To Do? (Compiled)

Y didnt u ask ur friends out? Sure can find some friends out on either one of the holidays?! I think even cannot find friends, being alone during the 3 days also ok lah. Can do many things like sleeping at hm, watching tv, go for jog, go out walk walk ard, go to the riverhongbao at marina, go sentosa, go some hiking and nature walk etc.

Sigh, alien,

this is the bane of mingling with too many straights... all the straights are happily married of course and thus committed to the routine of CNY visiting, while the few friends of common orientation I have are either based overseas or returning to their hometown (overseas, across the causeway etc) for the extended weekend.

Lying around at home is an $!^*| no-no.

Only so many parks to walk around in SG and definitely not into staying late in these parks for extra instant-fun activities, not to mention limited access with less public transport in the evening.

I haven't been in Singapore for the past 5 CNYs so I sorta have gotten used to it being just another ordinary day.

Well in fact I've had to work for the past 5 CNYs so at least I don't have to do that anymore. :D

But yes as usual I will be doing nothing all weekend, because although my family is Chinese, they do not celebrate CNY... :wacko:

Agreed. if you have too many str8 friends, esp already married. Usually they will have their own programme. But still ok lar, can take tis chance to do own things. :) Actually u can also consider go holidays during the CNY period lor.

CNY is definitely NOT one of my favourite time of the year.

It used to be laborious to answer stupid questions from my "extended" family but now, no one dares to ask anymore because my mother told them off one of the year... steady, auntie right?

I went to the 清明上河 exhibition at the EXPO for most of the afternoon of the 1Ist day of CNY last year.. It was really good.

This year, I am going to stay home because my mom's health is deteriorating... I need to get all those phone numbers and emails from who-ever visits her....

So to all the fellow forummers, 恭喜发财， 身体健康， 心想事成。。

Which shopping centre open on 1st day?

All shopping ctr shld be open on the first day of CNY, but the shops inside the shopping ctr depends on the individual shop owner, whether they want to open or not.

things i do:

1. spend time with family at home

2. go visiting relatives with oranges and collect more ang pows to boost bank account

3. watch movie with bf

4. eat, and eat, and eat ...

5. gathering with old schoolmates and friends, play mahjong and chat til next morning

6. have a great time!!

What I did on CNY.....

Keep my parents company on Reunion dinner and CNY...these are the two days with no kapo relatives visit.

1) 2nd day, go jogging in the park to burn fat or visit temple.

2) In future if I grow old, will go to the beach or seaside to watch Malay people fishing.

3) Yesterday I watched movie until 5am in the cooling night (3rd day onward swimming pool should be opened)

In fact, CNY is the best day to cruise than any other days because...many singles will be out and about to stay away from nosey relatives.

After CNY, cruising will be difficult due to crowds too.

So guys, go out of your house to cruise. You never know how many singles will be out there waiting for soulmate to click on these auspicious days.

Went overseas most of the yrs... but the downside air tix are really expensive if you don't book early.

Going overseas during cny period is the same as staying in sg, if u travel alone. Anyway, one more day to go before going back to work. So hopefully those who dun know what to do during cny managed to survive the past days.

yea during this period any guy who is pleasant looking or fit or well groomed and alone is 95% gay, with another guy very highly likely, and guys in a group just scream GAY. :P

Not true, it will be crowded during the cny period, cos watching movie is the only thing tht can do here. Also there will be quite a few cny movies showing.

Chinese New Year house visiting is at most only one or two days only nowadays. If really can't rough it out for whatever reasons one might have just go to a buget hotel or hostel to sleep it out then return to your mundane daily routine.

Why not?

In fact it is during festive seasons that those lonely and depressed souls will feel worst and need psychiatric help.

Go and seek help before it is too late. I have seen people around me falling into depression and it sticks to them for a long time, or it may be a lifetime.

The psychiatrist may be able to help you overcome your fears and open yourself up.

Safra tamp pool will be closed on eve at 1pm and closed on 1st and 2nd of CNY.

 

u can do cycling and i think it will be a nice ride as the road will be less crowded and less ppl on PCN. I intend to do that on that day.

 

Go running and burn that extra calories away.

My hse will not have bah gwa during CNY unless given by relatives cos we usually have bah gwa during offpeak periods, with 40-50% off.

My hse will not have poker cards and beer too cos we dont encourage gambling, drinking and other vices in the hse.

But my hse will surely have food. :D

I am referring to the first day. I do that every year.  Visiting on the first day of CNY is always reserved to the most important relative like Grand parents or parents. So cinemas are pratically empty.  

Cannot say the same for the 2nd day onwards though.....

If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.
