Or you could refer to this guide. Note that you can only do this on versions other than the mobile version of BW forum, where the text editor is disabled.

 

As for how you could disable the chat function.

 

Click on the "Hide Chat" button on the extreme right of the chat bar located at the bottom right of your window.

 

Alternatively, open the "Chat" and "Chat Rooms" buttons, there is a cogwheel (Settings) button on the top right corner of the popup window, make sure "Chat Sounds" and "Chat Room Sounds" are unchecked (unticked).

 

If you're facing this issue on your mobile / handheld device, make sure "Request Desktop Site" under your browser's option settings is disabled.

1) If I click the pop up chat and browse forum, some chat messages go to the forum page chat instead of pop up chat. Would it be possible to keep all the chat messages in the pop up chat even when browsing forum or open multiple pages?

2) Can we have a personal filter in our "ignore" preferences. so that the words of my choice are all masked off in chat (and if possible, forum) to me only. So other users can still view them and I dont need to read them.

3) in mobile version chrome, I do not see the options to show names only for chat. can this be provided?

4) Please provide the option to block and unblock users when we are using the mobile version.

5) would it be possible to have app version? sometimes it takes many pokes before my keyboard finally pops up wwhen I am using mobile. and if we are in chatroom, to have alert when there is new pm

1. Turn off the chat on the main forum page after you have opened the popup chat window. In any case, keep only one instance of the chat opened, multiple instances of the chat will cause them to desync.

 

2. It's not impossible, but I don't see this happening any time soon.

 

3 - 5. We'll be upgrading to a newer version that has a better mobile-version user interface. I can't tell you when as of yet, but it should address some of these issues.

Aye, Glyph. Dicks, asses, explicit solicitations, and whatnot—that is precisely why I had suggested for the thread to be moved to the Members' Lounge. I've browsed

through every single page on that thread, and there are a handful of genuine 'newbies' who have introduced themselves without the abovementioned intentions; I believe they're trying to make new acquaintances/friends through said thread.

 

But with the Personals section as is, I thus suggested that these said handful of 'newbies' be able to introduce themselves on a more ... "appropriate" section within the forum.

 

It be just a lil' suggestion here. No biggie.

When the chat bar is hidden, all you should see is a grey/white capsule button. That should prevent the messages from "appearing at different chat windows".

I just bought a tablet and started using the mobile version which is much simpler. In fact I made this post using mobile. I realize the chatroom doesn't work in the full version. Only in mobile and laptop. Do you guys experience the same thing?

BW is a great website. The forums are so interesting and topics organised well.

But i hope to see improvement at:

1) make it simple to attach pictures/photos. It is a bit complicated here. Why cant u simply give a "attach" icon for us to click then we can choose the pic to attach from our phone, tablet or PC? Craigslist version is so easy to post pics

2) improve the chatroom to the previous sgboy irc standard which was so happening at that time

I've been wondering, what if the 'personals' section is split into 2 categories, dividing between those seeking fun, vs those looking towards non-fun meet ups (as weird as that sounds)

I know there's the Member's Lounge section but somehow it feels like that's meant for members to interact with one another within the forums, while 'Personals' leans towards going beyond online communication and meeting up. People can meet up for reasons other than purely having fun, so having a distinction between the two would be nice. Not necessary, but could be great to have.

While we're at that, has anyone raised a suggestion on having a sub-category for Malaysians in the personals maybe? I'm not Msian but it could feel more organized. Or maybe an 'international' section so others apart from Msians and not Sg could post there as well.

I really like the idea of having occasional BW-organised outings but there's only so few mods and we're, if not all, mostly busy with our own lives so it's very... I'll say it again, -very- hard to get us to sit down and plan something together. Also, unlike G_M, most of the mods are shy with people (I attest to this), so yeah.

 

I guess we could form a BW event planning committee and we could have just one mod to "endorse" the events. Or you could start your own!

Not sure if the following is possible but it would be most useful.

 

1. When going into a topic, instead of paging to the very first post, auto display the very last post on the very last page? If other users are anything like me, we would have read or followed the post and would be interested in (only) what the latest post is. I clear my history quite often and therefore when going into a post, the system does not auto page me to the latest post.

 

2. Have a button that allows a jump to the first post on the page or the last post on the page?  This is sort of related to 1. and perhaps is not needed if 1. is done. When going into a topic, I get onto page one. I then click on the 'fast forward' button which brings me to the last page. I think scroll over and over and over again till I get to the last topic on the page - would be good to have a button that auto drops me to the last post on the page?
