HydroNaut
How come nobody mentioned abt the joint singles scheme? Wld it increase the chances of getting the bto thru tis scheme? Cause i dun think there might be a lot of joint singles applicants. The 2-room flat already quite affordable with the grant, plus who would wanna share a pigeon hole together? I think the only joint singles applicants might be those that earned less than $800 a month. And cannot afford to pay $17,000 for a 2-room flat. Which likelihood would not be residing in here as they might not be internet savvy as well. Edited November 29, 2013 by HydroNaut

No wonder so popular!I wld think throwing the $10 bucks buy quickpick maybe chances even higer than throwing to the bto. Guest Guest
Read an article in PropGuru couple of days ago in which Khaw was quoted as saying by 2016 a lot of new public flats will be ready, like tens of thousands. I remember a figure of 200,000 was quoted but can't recall if this includes new private flats as well.Hence I think a significant number of resale flats will be available as existing owners will need to sell as they take up their new flats. I'm betting HDB resale prices will soften. It's already happening now, where some owners are no longer asking for high COV.
Marineboy
Guys remember the time HDB allowed singels to buy up to 3room flats in the open market?Well the property market went south n the bigger resale flats had trouble to find buyers...guess what...they conveniently allowed singles to now buy larger flats from the open market.Cant help feel that we are being used n kicked around sometimes. Now we are allowed to get 2room BTO brand new from HDB...its certainly an improvement with 30% reserved for singles n those not taken will be released as well.I noticed some places the 4 n 5roomers have poor demand as well...almost all 1st n 2nd timers will be able to get for those who applied. Perhaps when the shit hits the fence of over building the larger flats against the demand...once again they might want to look in our direction once more.I remain doubtful...........but who knows when people get desperate rules can change to benefit their agenda
alien
Correct, i think if certain hdb flats more supply than demand, as a result too many leftover. High chance hdb might allow singles to buy them, just to help hdb clear stock. As the demand for new hdb flats from the singles gp way over too high liao. So i guess no matter which type of flats or where is the location of the flats, surely will be taken all up by the singles, nothing left.Unlike for 1st n 2nd timers, they are able to choose the location they want, n sometimes they are able to get the flat tht they applied. Whereas for singles at the current suitation, they just apply everywhere there is bto 2 rm flat regardless the location, sometimes really feel quite a sad case for singles. Cos if the singles are choosy, then dun know when will the person is able to get a bto flat liao. In the end most just tikam on every bto, haha. keyboard
Actually Built-to-Order flats are like it says, must have people order than they can build. However, since this is public housing, better estimation should be given to location, design, amenities to say a few to prevent units that are not taken up. All the data are inside HDB. Over so many years, which are the units that are taken up first, which are the ones that are most rejected by people late in the queue. These costs of having flats empty, goes back to us indirectly. Like yourself, i do hope the 3-5 rooms BTO will be opened up to singles, however, we are still at the back of the line, taking leftovers. It's not a fair game, thus please help yourself to feeling being used and kicked around.

Guest alien
The policy here will never fair to singles, cos they encourage and promote married family life n not single life. So they will tell u too bad if u want to remain single.Anyway, even some married couples also complaint tht they cld not get any bto after many tries, n eventually went to buy resale flat. So some of these pple also might say tis is not fair game. keyboard
Considering singles keep paying $10 to tikam and will eventually get nothing back for the past few BTO. HDB actually earn a lot leh. Think like 3000+ singles applied, and only few hundreds will get, means perhaps $30k salary going to someone's pocket. alien
Tis is sillypore no choice. They only know how to squeeze dry the pple here, everything here also can earn big bucks from the pple! I think if u r those singles who cannot afford to buy resale flat, then no choice but to continue to pay n pay $10 for tis tikam game. I believe those who can afford a resale flat, dun think wld be interested in tis tiny small 2 rm flat.
