He called for his mum to help him get out of bed.It wd have been easy to call it quits...a lesser man wd have chickened out of swimming, a loser wd say lifes not fair...but he didnt...Today, as a sport science and management student at Nanyang Technological University, he has never even let his ondition get him down!In one of those vids, as ahquah mentioned its an honour to swim with these comrades, how some might be retiring after this race, there clement stood right beside him... wordlessly watching and listening...whether he swims again or not, I wish him all the best! However, the boys back then had the best crop of hunks namely Leslie Kwok, Sng Ju Wei, Kenneth Goh and Ernest Teo, all of whom MIA today with no latest photos of them. Mark Chay appeared on TV for the past few days but sadly bloated like a water bomb. Leslie Kwok won Cleo Eligible Bachelors, back in the days where the bachelors were really eligible. While the swimmer gets hard to race for gold medal, the lower life forms get hard by talking about the hardons they saw on TV screen. Danny used to be a pretty unmotivated bochup guy ..all the way till the last few years of his teens... until that fateful day, his dad passed away. Cancer, the doctor said. It was later stage cancer so there wasnt much the doctors could do. Guess what? Poor danny was only 17 then.... when he lost his dad. He didnt know how to react, who toblame, where or who to turn to... in a moment like that, his whole world seemed to have collapsed...Things could have took a nose dive , a spiral downwards deeper, if not for the fact that he found swimming. It took him another year, around 18, a relatively old age to start swimmimg competitively, to finally come around. Yes, he may have lost his dad, but he found a new goal in life. There was no turning back for Danny; he had turned around...Indeed, there was no looking back. Today, at 25, an undergrad at smu, he looks back at his past wild with chagrin and is only glad that he found the silver lining behind his cloud. His dad in heaven would have been proud to see Dannyboy made good.Perhaps it was the same age that he found his calling that made him take a shine to ahquah, whom he fondly calls Sherman... The two buddies share a certain bond..perhaps, Danny saw a bit of hinself in the 18 year old ahquah, for after all, his own life had turned around for the better at that exact age! Danny's moment of epiphany came the moment he hit the pool... for jow long he will stay in the pool or get back to some other route, only time will give us the definite answer...
