I just want to make this clear to all heterosexual men & women & straight as lace couples out there.. there're married men visiting gay saunas.. do u know that..?? do u know that when you ladies are carrying ur babies for a full 9 months, some of your husbands are screwing guys outside ur marriage..?? do u know that..?? obviously you don't or all of you pretend not to know!!

what do you meant by imported lifestyles..?? for those " Wear White " supporters, all of you're nothing but bigots. shout & scream as you might, but when u think about our national pledge, irregardless of race, language / religion.. peace, progress & equality & justice..and more over we're a democratic society what does these words means to all you out there..??

bashing your own children who are in the LGBTQ community.. is that right..? chasing your child out of the house, is that righteous..? where's the GRACE!? Where is the Faith??!! what did the Lord teach all of us as christians.. Jesus preach about acceptance of sinners & love.. where is that acceptance & love..??

Are all of you going to be led on a witch hunt by your noses by this bigot call Lawrence khong??!! go ahead, pretend to be highly educated folks, pretend that you're so conservative that you can go kiss chairman mao's ass!! there're married man screwing prostitutes in orchard tower as we speak.

why don't we ask lawrence khong's daughter to be prosecuted. she's a bi, had a child out of wedlock. let's start the witch hunt from there..

The LGBTQ folks merely wants to co-exist among us. They're not some virus / plague that you & i can avoid. They're just like you & me, mere mortals who deserved loves & respect as human. Where is the humanity..? when the earthquake hits nepal & sabah, where're all of you since u declared you're so righteous & forthcoming.

What about adultery?? it is deemed as a sin..

what about domestic violence? wanna endorsed it to say it's ok for an alpha male to bash up his wife?

what about gambling? legalized it? so more people can go bankrupt

Why didn't our govt suppressed pink dot event? why..? cos' it's simple, there're some ministers & leaders out there with their child / children among us.. the LGBTQ community therefore they didn't open their mouth to say a darn thing each & every year.

Think about it please.

I'LL GLADLY GIVE MY STONE TO ANYONE WHO DARES TO CLAIM THAT THEY'RE HOLY & HAD NEVER SIN TO CAST IT AT THE LGBTQ community. Anyone likes to own up..??

"Imported lifestyles" is the idiotic phrase used to attack anything which these bigots decide they dont like n dont want in the community. Let them cast their mind back n take a look at Asian civilisations long before the age of colonisation. Homosexuality could b found throughout the continent. Just one look at old Chinese texts, prints n Japanese woodblock prints makes this perfectly obvious. But mention this n these bigots will come up with yet more excuses. Perhaps Khong should be sent a copy of particularly erotic gay Japanese prints every time he spouts this rubbish.

The fact is these people r afraid. With their tiny minds, they r afraid of what they dont know n dont understand. Instead of our bashing them as they bash us, we should pity them. Lawrence Khong n co call themselves Christians, yet they base their beliefs on archaic texts that r full of contradictions n fantasies. A friend who knows a very famous gay actor who once appeared in Singapore told me that whenever this knighted actor stays in a hotel with the Old Testament lurking in a drawer, he looks for Leviticus n then tears out the pages dealing with "men laying with men"!

I do not understand why GAY should not support "Pro Family" group. Shame on you all.

Please remember one important thing, only "Pro Family" group can create future gay generations. Therefore, in order to show appreciation,  next Pink Dot organizer should invite those "Pro Family" group to pink dot event regardless of the colors they are wearing.

Oh sure, they're pro-family*

*only includes a mother-and-father unit with one or more children. Anything that deviates from this nuclear family structures aren't considered families.

I'm sure pinkdot welcomes them buuuuut they probably won't go. Don't want to be grossed out by moral depravity of said event and seeing all the non-heterosexuals enjoying themselves, y'know?

Because of their bigoted definition of 'pro family'. It is to justify their discriminatory view.

And also pre marital sex that leads to abandoned children and divorce by straight couples - both are prohibited by religion.

https://sg.news.yahoo.com/blogs/singaporescene/comment-the-hypocrisy-of-the-wear-white-campaign-091332927.html

Kirsten Han is a Singaporean blogger, journalist and filmmaker. She is also involved in the We Believe in Second Chances campaign for the abolishment of the death penalty. A social media junkie, she tweets at @kixes. The views expressed are her own.

“I want to pray that we will continue to wear white as long as there is pink, and we will wear white until the pink is gone, and even if the pink is gone we will continue to wear white.”

The above statement comes not from some sort of ill-conceived advertisement for laundry liquid, but from conservative magician-pastor Lawrence Khong of the Faith Community Baptist Church.

Khong and his fellow anti-LGBT followers have once again revived the Wear White campaign, positioned as a counter to the annual gay rights rally Pink Dot.

This vocal conservative group are incensed by what they see as a threat to the “Natural Family” posed by the LGBT equality movement. More than adultery, more than domestic violence and problem gambling, it is for some reason LGBT rights – or, as a commenter on a previous blog post put it, “Gayism” – that threatens heterosexual family units and the fabric of society. Presumably because once LGBT rights are recognised, a big glittery tidal wave of gay will wash over Singapore, leaving nothing but tight leather and Grindr in its wake. Because hey, who doesn’t want to be gay, if only they could?

The Wear White campaigners and folk over at We Are Against Pinkdot in Singapore (WAAPD) are deeply committed to their cause. Nothing, not compassion, not kindness, nor facts can stand in their way.

They are willing to yell until they are blue – or white – in the face about foreign interference in domestic debates, while conveniently ignoring the origins of their own brand of right-wing evangelical Christianity. In fact, the term “Natural Family”, featured so prominently in Khong’s letter, was itself borrowed from American anti-gay rhetoric. Their version of blessed “Asian Values” is as Singaporean as mee siam mai hum: IT’S NOT ACTUALLY A THING.

Wear White and WAAPD are up in arms over foreign interference because the US embassy congratulated Pink Dot on Facebook, and because some pink-clad white people were spotted in Hong Lim Park on Saturday. They say that these foreign elements (because, obviously, there is no such thing as a white Singaporean or Permanent Resident) should butt out of “domestic affairs” – what Singapore does within our borders is none of their concern.

They, unfortunately, appear unable to take their own advice: LGBT people have for years been trying to tell conservatives to butt out of their domestic affairs, because what two consenting adults do within the four walls of their bedroom is none of their concern. But I guess that would bring us back to the leathery Grindr glitter tsunami of gay.

According to mothership.sg, Khong ended his Dynamo sermon over the weekend with the promotion of his upcoming totally-not-gay magic show, which promises to transform “illusion to reality”. Perhaps he will bring a same-sex family onstage and try to make them disappear.

Jokes aside, the activities of Wear White and WAAPD cannot be dismissed. Both LGBT activists and conservatives might be vocal, but it would be a mistake to imagine that there is balance in the way the government is dealing with the issue.

The government is willing leave enshrined in law state-led discrimination and prejudice against LGBT people. This means that LGBT people are largely blocked from public health initiatives that might teach safe sex or provide counselling for mental health issues. Gay youth – particularly boys – are taught in schools that they are technically lawbreakers. By not allowing same-sex marriage, LGBT people are by default excluded from the many social benefits that the state ties to marriage: HDB grants, childcare subsidies, or even the power to act as next-of-kin for their partners in case of injury or illness.

According to Khong and his followers, the rights of the heterosexual family unit *include* these oppressions against others, even though the existence of these oppressions have zero impact on the lives of heterosexuals. The government, for all its insistence on compromise and balance, appears to agree. After all, it is more than willing to erase LGBT stories and experiences from the media, even while it professes neutrality in the debate.

But all is not lost, and we who believe in equality and acceptance should take heart. This bigotry has an expiry date: we’re seeing it around the world, from Ireland to Mozambique to Mexico.

Despite what Khong says, you cannot white out the pink; it merely creates more pink.

The fact is that UN is now in touch with our local govt since that article was publicized. The UN is also in touch with our local LGBTQ community & sayoni. They are looking into each month reports & the growth of our PD event too. And they are making sure our local LGBTQ folks get their rights to be who they are & what they are.

The UN has very little leverage on this issue. But it's a good sign to see the engagement with the government.

The govt is only paying lip service, it's wants its cake and eats it by "appearing" to be neutral to the LGBT group so as to gain brownie points with the UN, but at the same time caving in to the demands of the local conservatives bcos election is round the corner.

There are so many issues within the str8 communities. A lot of their issues are covered up or place under the carpet. They should look into their own problems instead of finding fault within the LGBT community.

They can do both simultaneously.

Drug use is very real in the lgbt community. So going by your logic, should we solve our own issues first before attempting to get equal rights?

I think every communities have their own issues. However, for some str8 factions, they tend to nit pick on LGBT issues that best suited for their own agendas and blowing them out of proportion. These efforts could have been more focus on tackling pressing issues of str8 comms.
