Guest taifond
went royal spa as recommended by the folks here....it's really very pampering and the facilities are excellent. This masseur named King is REALLY skilled and polite. Second time I chose Colin, which some people mentioned here. Colin's massage I feel is so so but he is damn HOT! very chatty and highly kissable! but the price I feel is quite ex at royal spa, esp when u factor in the tips. One thing I noticed is that they use this flimsy and thin cloth in place of a thick fluffy towel for u to dry urself after showering.Tried So Young Spa as well at ximen (semen? lol) ting. was disappointed when this muscular-bod guy refused to shed his clothes and get intimate...but he was polite nevertheless.....maybe I'm not his dish. And Taiwan's massage really goes for the FULL 2 hours! if the masseur is not skilled or chatty, u may actually get bored and wish he would hurry up and get to the more 'exciting' part.... Enelym1978
any idea whether late May is a good time to go Taiwan? will it be too hot? too crowded, etc?May is quite nice. Not too hot not too cold. Avoid July August. First of all it's typhoon season, second it can get super hot. I used to go in July and at times, the tar on some roads was getting soft from the heat.... Guest msgfreak
which massage did u go to?Usually it includes the extra service. If you're really happy then you can tip more. It's up to you but they are not aggressive and will rarely ask for more.Last time I had a massage in Taipei, I hit it really well with the therapist and we exchanged numbers and met again the following days but for free at the hotel.

You seem to have been everywhere!, Enelym . I'm from Europe, worked in the US and now based in Asia with a Regional role, so I'm lucky enough to be able to explore lots of different cities. Too bad I don't get to explore more resort-y locations though haha. For Taiwan for example, I only got to see Taipei and Kaohshiung.

iamwill
hello!!just wanna help this young lady to advertise here for the GLBT-friendly hostel she is running. Interested may contact Ms Romana Guan Taipei Fun House (www.facebook.com/TaipeiFunHouse)mobile: +886-958-132-779email: romonalove@gmail.comfacebook: Romona Guan Met Romona and her friend at Redhouse. They were promoting a gay version of speed-dating event that they had organised. while chatting, realised that she and her group of friends have been organising events for the GLBT community in Taipei and they are starting up a centre that provides support and guidance to youngsters (age 21 and below) on GLBT issues.I have not been to the hostel, i'm impressed with what they are doing for the GLBT community and more so impressed by her running a business at such a young age, and she will be having another hostel coming up soon. details of the hostel i'm not sure as I have not been there, but vaguely remember she mentioned that each bedspace would cost NT600 per night. there are twin sharing and quad sharing rooms. and guests are free to mingle around hope you can support them

Try www.hotelscombined.com and you will find quite a lot of 2 or 3 stars hotels near Ximen for less than $100 a night.Don't worry too much about Taiwan hotels, they are mostly clean and well maintained. You might get a tiny room though. I never stayed in a small hotel, not sure how they see you bringing guests in. But bigger hotels couldn't care less... single
Taiwan culture is you must pass the key or card when you leave the hotel for your activities to the hotel staff. If bring someone back they will know lah. Just not sure if they care or not... Was in Taiwan last week. Rain everyday. No mood to walk too much. So just visit the nearby places. Did went to Dan Shui. My advise, skip it. Now should be sunny I guess. Visited The Royal Spa twice and choose Hom and Jun. Good service and massage. But have to say Hom's massage is better. Get to meet Josh and Alan as well when they have guest and coming upstairs while I was going downstairs. Will try Alan next time...hehe

Most don't have card systems, they use the actual keys. That's why you need to leave your key when going out and take them back when coming back and then of course, the front desk staff will know exactly who's coming with you or not. Staying in more modern of chain hotels will not have this issue. It's a key card system, you just your card with you and the staff won't know if the person walking in with you is actually with you or just another guest.
