takeitoff
Just came back after working from the Kaohsiung office for almost 2 weeks. I have to say it's pretty boring there, but maybe it's just because I ended up spending 2 weekends there, and maybe because it ultimately was a work trip. I have to say that the people are friendlier than Taipei (and they are already consiedred to be damn friendly when compared with other East Asians from major cities). But the gay scene is really much quieter. I know it is mainly because Kaohsiung is smaller than Taipei, but I could kinda sense that they weren't as open as their northern counterparts. Or maybe I was just thinking too much.

You know the kind that is nice when you look at for like 5 minutes or so, but after that you'd want to see something else type. I'm not sure if anyone knows what I mean by that though lol. takeitoff
I think if you can get out of the hills into civilisation your worries are more or less settled. I doubt it's that cold in Taipei in October. Probably around 20-25 degrees, but yes nighttime up at Yangmingshan might be cold indeed. And also it's almost November so yeah it might be 18 degrees up there at night. There's a smaller pool at the corner that isn't so hot. I can't take the main hot spring anyway. But it's a good conversation starter lol. People who want to talk to you will have a very natural topic to talk about. Why aren't you going in? Is it too hot? It's not too hot actually. Sometimes it gets hotter. And then some tips like sitting at the corner and slowly put your feet in without moving too much, then go further in etc. But there's this very small tub-like thing that is really bloody cold. You can try it just for the fun of it lol.
sphere
Hi Enelym & GymStock, You just go to the front reception (at 川汤 entrance), tell the staff there to help you call for a cab and then you just need to wait for its arrival. The service is free, that's what I did recently in June this year. For your info, please. I have no idea too.... but i heard alot of people just spent the night there.. gonna find out tomorrow:DHi Shin_85, Do fill us in with the latest observation, Ok?As of June this year, there was this particular staff that checked on the steam room every 10-15 minutes. He would walk up to see if there was any hanky panky inside? (or else there was no other reason for him to do that) Saw him walking in and out several times, do be careful and update us if such "security" is still ongoing for your visit. Thanks. Have a good trip! studdyboy 1 Quote Happy - is what we should be, always. Enelym1978
It's just that those ladies working at the ticket counter are soooo unfriendly that I don't even dare disturbing them to call me a cab haha. And yes it's way too hot. I mean, it's the way a hotspring is supposed to bed, don't get me wrong. But staying there more than say.... 2 hours, it's just crazy haha.I would usually do like you suggested, sit up on the edge, with my feet up as well. Can't even leave them in there too long, or they might cook haha. The icy cold pool is great to cool down. Either after a soak or after the steam. It's the way it's supposed to work anyway. You need to cool yourself down, close down your pores quickly, and something to do with blood vessels/capillaries (not sure it's the right word). As for the attendants, yes, they do check from time to time. They know what's going on in there, they just don't want it to turn into a super cruisy place. I'm sure some straight people have complained before anyway. If you really have to do that, do it discreetly and at your own risk. The eye candy and chatting with people there is more than enough. AND relaxing in the hot water of course. Never tried their massages though, are they good?

Before I reached the reception, they (think there were 2 of them) were calling out to me if I needed them to help me call a cab... Maybe they had a bad day when you were there, try again next time? Shin_85
Thanks whatevermightbe for the info.I went 皇池 with a friend for a change. There is a convenient cab machine. My local friend told me there is a saying now 皇池 is more visited by bear and there is more sissy in 川汤. No idea how true that is but there is indeed lots of bear in 皇池, some very very cute, haha. The ticket is 250, 400 if include meal. I suggest you guys take the food too. The food is quite nice, worth a try. And, 皇池 got more pools to choose from (3 diff temperature hot pools and 3 cold one). Bigger steamroom too, but the steamroom is quite bright, very hard to attempt anything if you're looking for fun. Overall, 皇池 was nice, relaxing and clean, personally prefer this more than 川汤.
