Sort of haven't adjust back to Singapore weather. Everyday is like so hot. Missed the cool weather where going around without sweating much.

Although it is cooling in those weather but if never sweat much, i find a bit "unhealthy", haha.

CNY period for some pple will have long break, so CNY period is a gd time to travel. Anyway, CNY only abt 2 mths plus away!

fyi for those planning CNY trip -

earlier this year, was at taipei from 26-28 jan and 2-3 feb, and CNY was from 10 feb sun...

most of the places were opened, but there weren't any CNY décor etc, nothing festive strangely, or perhaps it was too early...

Going to taipei in mid of Nov until mid Dec.  Will be going to Jiaoxi (礁溪) for their hot springs. Anybody who has been there, can recommend any nice hot spring resorts which I can stay overnight?

Currently, I'm looking at 礁溪汤围沟温泉but they dont have rooms for stay overnight......

Cheers,

Kian

Hi,

For those who just came back from Taiwan, are their free wifi common? As I don intend to get the local SIM card for fear friends cant reach me from SIN if I get a local son card

They have a free WiFi, forgot the name... mostly near 7-11 and in the stations. But you need to register with a local number. Which means, that, by having that local number, you are better off taking one of those super cheap data plans for a few days.

So if based on the registered local number, I have to get the SIM card for that number and still can't be reached to my SIN number

You only need it to register and receive your password... once this is done, you can always switch back to your SIN card and connect to those HotSpots using your TW number as login together with the password received.

However, I don't understand... today, with Whatsapp, Line, Kakao, WeChat, Viber, Skype and others, is it that important to be reachable on your SIN number over a few days?

Taking incoming calls when roaming is super expensive. Same goes with sending out text messages.

You can also subscribe to a roaming plan just before leaving Singapore.

SingTel for example, for Taiwan:

1 Day: $15

3 Days: $45

5 Days: $75

For unlimited data access. More expensive than a local SIM. Local SIM with unlimited data for 5 days is, if my memory is good, $300 TWD (FarEastOne).

Thanks for the method. Ya that's why I intend to use only my SIN number to stay connected via whatsapp and emails. Therefore I can't do it if I get a local SIM card?

Of course you can!  :)

When you switch SIM card and launch those apps, they will say "oh, new number, you wanna register with this?" Just say NO

And you will still be reachable on your SIN number. No one will see anything. It's completely transparent to all your contacts.

Why do you think I have 8 different SIM cards in my travel pouch for my biz trips haha?

It makes absolutely no difference. Just say NO, when the apps are asking you to register again (mainly for Whatsapp, the other apps don't even care lol).

tried redeeming miles to taipei...

the ticket costs 600

but if i redeem miles it will still cost 350!

zzzz..... the miles seems quite useless for locations like taipei.....

Juz came back from 川湯 hotspring. Friday evening. Crowd was not too bad. The sauna room was especially conspicuous. There were several times I went in n kena touched all over. Then there was this group of 3 guys groping each other. But the other uncles in the room dun seem to react at all. Probably they are quite used to it alr. Gonna come back next weekend evening n have a look again. But overall a great experience . :)

Attention! Reporting live from rainbow spa, Taipei.

I am now taking a short break at the second floor common area. Enjoying the not very nice chocolate which is available for free. The maze upstairs is amazing. Especially the dark maze where literally no beam of light can enter. Lots of action going on. Groping is the norm. If u get in, confirm will kena touch all over. Quite shiok. My first ever sauna experience. Shall elaborate more when I have more time!

I'd like to try a weekend in Taichung. What is everyone's experiences and suggestions there, apart from the night market, especially PLU stuff. How are the two main saunas, too packed on weekend to stay overnight? Any dance clubs Saturday night, cruisy shopping or park?

Plan well in advance especially the transport...

The main (straight) clubs there are selectively on the patrons...need RSVP and dress code...

If you travel to Taipei, you cant miss trying a GOOD spa/massage in The Royal Spa. It is just behind the Red House in Ximen (西门町后楼). Tried it last April, and came back with a fantastic experience!

Tempted to go Taipei in early Aug due to the Jetstar return free promo.  Abt $192 nett .... paiseh, budget traveller  :D

Maybe go on Wed/Thu midnight flight n then return to SG on mon/tue at around 8pm.  Duration flexible depending on the programme.

Looking for a companion.  Wanna go Aniki, Royal Spa and Kawayu Spa, but a bit shy.  Other than tat, will prolly visit the night markets n eat eat eat (esp their bbq n steamboat buffets!).  Maybe shop a lit too.  Maybe can rent a cab n explore the outskirts of Taipei too?

Anyone keen can pm me their hp, n we can discuss via watsapp.  Have to be by 29 Nov though cos the promo will end then.  Cheers!

Field report from Anika spa.

I have been planning my trip carefully so that Saturday nite is reserved for Anika's inception party. I read from the website that the entrance fee is ntd800. However. When I arrived at that place, the staff informed me that due to the faulty jacuzzi n warm pool. They have lowered the entrance fee to ntd700 instead. The place isn't exactly easy to locate. It is hidden in one of the small alley n it is underground. Nonetheless, after some navigation I manged to find the place.

The place is rather well equipped n in a much better condition compared to rainbow spa.there is a movie theater which was screening HBO movies with several big n not so comfy sofa bed for patron to lie on. Then there are two Macintosh pc for users who wanna surf Internet and also a mobile phone charging station. Next to movie theater was a big room with 4 rows of mattress for patrons who crave for a siesta.

The dimly lit shower area was rather nice n well designed , alongside with a steamroom and a sauna room. Unfortunately, the heater was spoiled so had to bathe with freezing icy water ( it is winter btw) .

I cruised one round in the afternoon and there was abt 10-15 guys around in the maze area. Every turning corner is fitted with a full body length mirror so u can easily check on "incoming" traffic.

The long awaited party started at 6pm sharp. Juz in time for it when I came back from my mcD dinner. It was a lube party....

To be continued...

Had a massage session from royal spa. The experience is by far the most amazing massage experience I have had. U really need to try it out for yourself. Simply beyond words.

Each time I go Taipei I will give royal spa a visit. Regardless of the massuer I chose, the massage is always done professionally with a good service attitude. Always feel being pampered. Each room comes with attached bath and the bathing time does not eat into the massage time. There is also a good selection of massuer to choose from. There is no one man spa in Singapore that can be comparable to Taipei royal spa.

Anyone can recommend a good driver to bring me to Jiufen/Shifen followed by Chuang Tang and back to Hotel. Any idea how long it takes for this 2 places? I would like to put the lantern with my partner at night before going hot spring. Prefer clean and new car (limo is even better), gay or gay friendly a plus.

It will just be me and my partner. Thanks!

Guest new to taipei

Does anyone have specific masseur to recommend for Royal Spa? Heard about the good reviews and feel like trying. Do the masseurs usually allow you to touch their dick when they are naked?

I am new to this and want to know what is the norm.

Guest Love Taipei

Any one tried Kenny, Dickson or Karl from Royal Spa? Can share the experience?

Do you mean Dickies?  If so, he's very good.  Nice technique and very friendly.
