Correction to above

I meant the 20 something masseurs ...

Also I couldn't find BEAR HOUSE. As listed in TGAsia. ...I entered #7 133 linden north and this geisha like girl rushed out to greet me in jap talk .... Ths us a jap area .

I rushed out at top speed !

If you know how to correct TGAsia , pls et them know that the address for bear house taipei could be wrong .

And boy is taipei cruisy .... While shopping in xinyi area and malls I was cruised and followed !

But I didn't feel the need to reciprocate .... Dunno why ...age I think !!

Hi guys, just checking: for 垦丁 (Kenting) right, would staying there for 2 nights be more than sufficient?

Happy - is what we should be, always.

Well, haven't decided actually, now at "fact finding" stage.

Do you happen to know the place well?

Aiyo, never pay attention is it? Haha...

Only at planning stage now, to see if it is worth spending some time there, since I've not been there and some other parts of Taiwan.    :)

Thanks zAcOn, yeah, if it is just water sports, I guess 1 night at 垦丁 is sufficient.

澎湖 is also on my list, and if I'm not wrong, there's water sports there too, was thinking of 2 nights here (for view scenic area as well).

If you're going in mid July you can head to Fulong beach just east of Taipei. THere's this music festival which I think is easily one of the best in Taiwan every year.

Thanks wailo, wil take note of that.

Why don't you try service apartment through www.airbnb.com, ivanguy?

You might still be able to get a room near XMD...

HELP Guys!!

I will be in Taiwan on 14 Mar to 19 Mar

......

budget between $75-$150.

thanks!

Just did a check for you, I kind of like this particular apartment (click here) and it is just slightly higher than your lower end of the budget.

Not sure if it suits you, otherwise you could just search around, there are 20 over choices...

Well, I could help you see/find, but I don't have your dates...

If the above post's apartment looks good, maybe you can see its calender has availability for your dates?

For a brief moment, I didn't noticed that the replies were from the two of you - ivanguy & justaguy, both contains "guy" in the nick, haha...

Nice one sphere. I have put my dates and asked the host

hope to get a favourable reply

No problem, hopefully you got it. And maybe you could share after your trip, if this apartment is a good catch? Haha.

managed to book one from airbnb... thanks sphere for the recommend... unfortunately the nice room u suggested was out so i went ahead with another host. hope it will be a good one

that said, wanted to share an experience in royal spa when i was there in taipei 2 weekends ago...

i dropped an email to royal spa to book an appointment with Alan. quick response. wanted to try Alan since there were some discussions abt him. This was my 3rd time to royal spa and was hoping to be pampered. Alan looked exactly like the pic but perhaps not as tanned. the first hour was sports massage and at various points, Alan knows how to do a tease. the 2nd hour was oil massage. the oil could have been warmer given the cold weather that day. when i was asked to flip over, Alan took it all off. a good sight though... *details ahem... to be kept down* i would rate Alan's massage skills as 9/10 but service wise perhaps 8/10 since he was rather quiet during the time.

might go royal spa again this coming weekend when i am there again... considering trying out Dickie.. any other recommendation?

any other spa that you guys can recommend for massage besides royal spa? saw In Touch spa, So Young?

No problem, looks like you just missed it by a bit. In any case, after your trip, do share if the room you got is worth it.

And your sharing on Royal is definite appreciated too. Hope to hear more.      :)

Has anyone got any report on 228 memorial park? Heard it is cruisy but not sure what to expect

You must be 30 years behind time.

Remind me of Bai Xian Yong's NieZi.

I think outdoor cruising is so outdated as technology picks up.

The Taiwanese are IT savvy....so get on the Grindr/Jack'd apps..

  • 2 weeks later...

hello guys, foreign student in taiwan here. Not sure if you know this already but Aniki is temporarily closed for now. Yes, this is sad news about our favorite sauna, hehe. I heard office sauna also closed last year. Anyway, if there's one good thing this brought, it's that I was forced to explore other saunas. Went to Rainbow two weeks ago. Not as clean as aniki but good enough, and the space is huge! Hoping to visit other saunas in the future :)

I'm in 18 to 22 March. Any accommodation go to recommend that's near xmt or shilin? Budget around 70 dollars per night.

u may want to try TS hotel, which is just on the fringe of XMD, 5min walk from exit 2 of XMD metro station....room quite small but suff for one person....attraction is the location, cleanliness, and price (just about $50-$60, depending on which room u take up. But be forewarned, room has no windows.....nevertheless, I still feel it's a good place to stay when in tp if u don't want to break ur wallet....

Do you mean April? Because the date of your post was in the middle of your suggested dates of travel...

If should be Exit 1, not Exit 2.

For single rooms, they definitely have no windows, however, those larger rooms (including the next larger one to single rooms) might have windows, so you might want to put it down in your request that you want room with windows when doing the booking.

Will be in Taipei over the weekend.

Intend to visit Royal Spa.

Can any kind soul tell me how much tips you guys give ?

Thanks

no need tips....they don't expect anyway (when I did give, they looked surprise!)....the price is already very high I the first place...but I did tip 200NTD as the masseur is very good...u can try Alan.....very good massage skills wise in my opinion, and easy on the eye too.....plus point in my opinion is that he doesn't chat much during the massage, so u can just focus on enjoying the experience....it's hard to chat anyway when u r faced down on the massage bed.....

there's a student protest going on at the parliament house (MRT station Shan Dao Si, just one stop away from Ximen, where royal spa is)...u may want go take a look....

came back from taipei 2 weeks ago and gosh, i am missing it already. can't wait to go back there again soon. hope there will be promo fares soon

some review:

accommodation - thanks to sphere. i managed to booked a room via airbnb since its my fault to look at accommodation so last min. still a good price i paid. its avg $70/night at ximending which is reasonable and cheaper than ECFA when i stayed there last oct. because of the room location, i literally had yong he dou jiang for breakfast everyday and of course put on much weight...

Transport - decided to buy the ez-link alike card to commute and it works out to be cheaper than the tourist card. can even use the ez-link card in 7-11

royal spa - visited the spa 2 times during this trip. first after touch down on a friday evening and second one on the last night before i returned back home. only 1 word: Awesome. I only tip when the masseurs are good. The session with Dickie really made me feel so relaxed and with Dickie being so caring, i gave him a huge tip which surprised him and he hugged me back. The other session with Karl was also good and it is definitely "H" if you know what it means. gave Karl a tip too. indeed the price at royal spa is high but the sessions do relieve you in one way or another :P

my advice here is it all depends on what you are looking for. most masseurs have decent skills though the style can be different.

well, if you have jack'd, you can actually find Alan, Alex and Kay from royal spa as well. i found that there are alot of personal massage studios within ximending area and those masseurs look exactly the same as they are in the jack'd profile. and their prices are lower than royal spa ranging from NTD1200 for a 60 mins to NTD1900 for a 90 mins session and of course no tips needed.

will definitely want to be back there again. any travel buddies?
