Taiwan - Massage / Sauna / Places To Visit (Compiled)

Yeah, Karl is a sweetie. You know that they are good natured when they offer to carry your bag up the stairs for you, when they watch and wait for you at the top of the stairs, when they test the temperature of the water before your shower and when they considerately fold and hand you your clothes after your shower. Its the small touches that humanises the whole massage experience.

I had a good experience with Alan too. People say that he is very quiet. I dont equate quiet with being unfriendly - I think he just has a quiet nature. Top points for his technique which has some Thai massage influence. People here report quite a lengthy massage to the back and after that the oil massage. I was expecting that but Alan got me to turn half way through the 'dry' massage. No issues with that at all as his massage to my front (tummy and chest for those of you who are thinking otherwise :)) was just as good technically.

Have not had the experience that Sphere had with the different masseurs but I think that having Spheres physique makes a difference too - the masseurs are human after all. :)

I had the same experience twice in Bangkok and that help build a rapport with the masseur. Or perhaps the rapport was there in the first place which then led to the masseur going out of his way to include the little things.

And lastly, how does one tell if the masseur is different? In addition to application of the right pressure the the right places, one of my gauges is that you cant hear the masseur breathe, even if his face is close to ones ears. Now THATS a top knotch masseur.

I do agree with your points (above), their little gestures really made one desired for more, haha.

Nah, I think I "charmed" them with the spoken language (Mandarin).   ;)

Happy - is what we should be, always.

*guest above - wah, you can really twist the meaning of my words leh, some people here might only read the first part of what you said eh. Haha.

You know what I meant. Anyway, it is good to get acquainted with the masseur since it would be a good 2-hour session. Usually, there came a time that they asked "Where are you from?". I often asked them to guess and most didn't get it right at first try, they were also kind of surprised after I told them "from Singapore".

Most, not all, from Royal are pretty good to chat with, yes? Haha.

Aiyaa, with your kind of bod, some people here might still read all of what I said but still end up thinking/remembering only the first part of what I said. :)

Oh, am surprised that they did not guess that you are from Singapore and that they are surprised after finding out that you are from Singapore. Is your Mandarin different? Did they guess that you are from the US? Surely they did not think that you are an Ah Tiong?

In their line of work, I think masseurs are interesting to chat with. I normally ask them if they have had any bad experiences. Most complain of smelly customers (including bad breath or body odour) or customers who grope them roughly or customers who want sex. Not at Royal but some bad experiences are customers who want a discount, after the massage, or customers who run away without paying. I cant imagine how many kkj's these people have seen in their line of work :). Btw, most of the guys at Royal have partners. They are good looking and have nice bodies and they are in a country where being gay is not stigmatic so it would be surprising if they are not in a relationship.

For the other readers here, I forgot to mention that something that is different about Royal is that they use massage gel instead of oil. It is very easy to wash off plus it seems to be good for the skin. The floor of the shower booth is also not oily/slippery because of that.

Oh, chatting with the mama-sans is fun too - because of the longish times, there are 4 who work different shifts.

.....

Well, I use proper Mandarin (标准华语) whenever I'm in Taiwan, thus "different" from here locally, haha.

Common answers were Beijing, Shanghai or Hong Kong (but Hong Kong they would say doesn't sound like after that), but usually they "gave up" after first try. They didn't guess Singapore because they know how we speak - with the "lor", "meh", "lah", "hor".

Alamak, don't be a guest lah, sign up as member and chat off-line leh - truly Singaporean. Haha.    :P

Sorry...but for me, I would want to hear him breath. Otherwise... I may start to get goosebumps.

Haha, yes I get your point.

I suppose I dont mind hearing breathing, I just dont want the masseur to breathe ON me. Some people might even enjoy heavy breathing :).

If the breath smells fresh then its ok but if not then it can be quite unpleasant.

There were lots of comments in regards to Royal Spa and Prime Spa...

Does anyone knows other massage places other than Royal and Prime?

I found a few massage places @ gay spa.com.tw. If y'all been to any of them, please send me some info.

1. myhomesalon.com.tw

2. Uspa.com.tw

3. M-spa.tw

4. Gspa.tw

5. Qstayspa.com

P/S: I'm a virgin in Taiwan LOL (my first trip to Taiwan, alone) March 11 - March 16. Staying at Ximending, Taipei!

Went to myhomesalon just over the week.  It is a fairly new outlet that is about 2 months old.  If you want a solid massage, Albert and Andy give very strong hard massages.  Andy is more sociable but Albert is the quieter type.  Really depends on your own preferences.  HE (hand job) is the minimum but the extras like B2B, showering together, kissing and other niceties really depends on chemistry and individual masseurs I guess.

Went to Chuan Tang over the weekend, many actions in the steam room, people were blatantly jerking off and hugging each other at the back. the hot ones are outside and the less attractive ones are inside, as usual.

its gets very crowded on saturday night, after 8pm and stopped entry at about 8.30pm...

sunday crowd much more manageable and also more actions on sunday. crowd starts to leave at about 8.30pm on sunday.

just take note do not overstay the steam room... a couple of people fainted for both of my visits and they probably underestimated the stress on the body.

If you are not used to the process, better to take it slow.

for me, i avoid going deep into the steam room to avoid getting stuck, its really cramped there and gets quite stinky after a while. also bring lots of water and keep drinking as you enjoy the sights.

most taiwanese do not shave down there and some can be as thick as amazon forest  :(

Wah, you can really "dig-out" an old post of mine from 2 years ago eh, haha. Thanks for your review, but Gene seems to have left recently, and I agree with you on Karl, his would be the most sensual one around Royal.

My personal favourites (which you may disagree eh) in Royal are Colin, Jazz, Hans, Karl and maybe Udon.

As for the hot spring, 皇池 is pretty clean and nice, while 川汤 though not as "elegant", there are more eye-candies I suppose, haha. I know that feeling of yours, well, if you are going alone, then there is no worry. The people there are strangers to you, nobody knows you there, just be brave to go and explore the place, eventually you would "overcome that fear" eh!

haha only because I read your review and went. so it's like a giveback. I was there just 2 weeks ago at the start of Dec and Gene was around? he just joined. unless it's a different Gene.

Karl is a real sweetie.

It is the same Gene, and he is back after "missing" for a short period, don't know why though. Haha.

You should try the hot spring (川汤) next time, it would be an "eye-opening" experience, really. It also took me a lot of courage to visit, and now I'm pretty cool with it.  :)

Anyone has been to other saunas like Rainbow or XL? How's the review? Aniki is too expensive.

Went to Rainbow. Was ok. Not impressed with the decor - looks quite old. Place clean enough, could have been cleaner. Saturday evenings and later seems to be when the crowd comes in. Mixed crowd. I think shortage of rooms might be an issue - some guys have the habit of standing in the doorways of rooms, seemingly reserving rooms for what action might come their way. The dry sauna is large but nothing seems to happen there - the door and windows face what might be termed a jacuzzi (its actually a big square tub) so perhaps that stops people from doing things. Next to the dry sauna is a quite large but very dark steam room. There are areas for relaxation, watching tele. The cruising area is upstairs of the changing/bathing areas.

What might be good for one person might not be good for the next.

Some people prefer sensual massage, others prefer strong massage.

So, whether Reyno is good for you or not is (as one of my chat buddy said) based on the "chemistry" between you and him.

Happy trying :).

Chuang Tang really very cruisy and people are quite hold. Jerking off each other in the steam room. Things get really crowded after 7.30pm on Saturday. Rainy weather this weekend. Nice to hide from the cold and wet weather.

So zzzzzzzz, when it is cold and wet, does Chuan Tang still get as crowded? I am guessing it would be nice in the water and in the steam room but when not in either, the wind can be a bit cold and one could get sick. Does that put the locals off i.e was it as crowded last evening? I hear that on Saturdays, sometimes the 'real' crowd really starts coming in at 10pm, not sure if that is true.

Last crowded than last Saturday but when I left at 8.30pm, huge crowd waiting to get in so yes, and the quality is there haha.

Never tried to stay beyond 8.30 as I wanted to catch the bus back into the city.

I was just there and left around 8:30...

are you the guy with the perfect six packs, solid chest, and slight beard?

No la. Just an average guy.

Saturday night crowd was much better quality than Sunday. Anyway when it's too crowded, you can't really make an approach. Or maybe the people are too shy.

Not average lah, zzzzzzzz, you are up in Taipei more often than most other people from here. Well, maybe.

I hear from people that on a Saturday, the crowd comes in later so leaving at 8.30pm might be selling yourself short in terms of experiencing the kind of "fun" that takes place late in the evenings.

Taking a taxi back to the city in the wee hours of the morning should not be an issue. I dont know if there is a surcharge after midnite but after 11pm, my friends and I shared a cab back to the city and it was about SGD12, for the whole cab. I think that is a reasonable fare, given the distance.

Actually the quality varies and I do heard about the late night activites but i seldom hang out too late outside. The good ones seldom hang out in the steam room but it's possible to chat with them if they are alone. A few approached me while I was changing and it was quite surprising for me and didn't know how to react.

When it's too crowded, it's difficult to initiate contact or conversation for me. Shy here

Hahaha, you did not know how to react. Well, next time you will know as you will be prepared for it a bit more.

You remind me of a friend (Yes, W, am talking about you :)). He is a frequent visitor to Taiwan too and ... he is shy :).  Thats kinda sweet considering a few minutes prior to that, you and whoever tried talking with you were running around without a single stich on! :).

Enjoy the rest of your stay. Am assuming you will you be heading up CNY time?

Wesley is based in Taichung so he is only in Taipei for weekend. He is very good for back massage and a very nice guy.

for Gspa, i love Mike. He is my dream guy with a very hot body and also very good massage skills. actually, the best i had so far.

Qstayspa and Gspa are both cheaper than Royalspa, about 1800-2000, and i think its great value for money. At least, in these two places, they give you real towel and have heater inside the room too.

Visited Royal Spa this week and booked Walker.  Excellent massage and very attentive/kind.  He has the nicest eyes and a killer smile.  The pictures on the website don't do him justice.  Wish I was staying longer - I'd go back for another :)
