I notice there is nothing supporting below her right arm, so you just have to lie down hold out your arm like an "L" shape for a 10 seconds? The "normal" stress on the shoulders comes from the hanging of your arm downwards, stretching your neck and shoulders, and also the position of your head which is slightly in front of your shoulders. So what she did was basically to "push" her shoulders muscles to the front of the head a bit to relieve the stress caused by the "overhanging" head . The position of her hand raised above her head was more to relieve the tension which will otherwise comes when your arms stretches your shoulder muscles. Don't expect such relief to be permanent. I've had my shoulders aching on both sides for years. Her method will only give you temporarily relief. An easier way is just to sleep on your tummy with your head turned towards the side where your shoulder aches. Again, no permanent relief, but I find it easier to maintain in that position longer since I may just fall asleep like that.
