Traveler3032
I have a SEIKO water resistance watch. Just like most Japanese products, the quality is great. I have had it for ten years, and it never gives me any trouble. The price is also reasonable. Before that, I didn't pay attention to the quality of watches and bought them for the look mainly. Those watches (including the super thin Swatch, quite fashionable at the time) didn't last very long.

loacker
currently have a 3 Seikos 2 running on batt 1 running on Kinetic..durability i would said as usual the top notch JPN quality, be it knock or drop, it seems unbreakable..given the reasonable price, i would say 'cant as for more" if someone looking to buy thier first watch and not thinking of changing often.. last year bought another more premium watch, Ball, was actually attracted to the Mircogas Tube which could luminated in the dark as claimed 20 years..its a self winding watch, kinda hassle everytime need to adjust the timing if not worn for days.. Next up within my radar, i hope or wish to get a Rolex..yup is a Rolex, many would say is kinda Uncle's watch and lotsa of replica china make outthere, not trendy or upmarket as IWC, Bretling, Bell & Ross..but i still prefer Rolex over other luxury brand..tats my preference.. Rolex is good. Breitling and Bell are not in the same league. But if you can find it, and you don't mind pre-owned, try to get an antique Rolex. Guest
Rolex is a good watch.I am wearing the white gold DateJust for 20 years now for outdoor activities, reservists training and rough use. I dont care what people said that it is an oldman watch. It served my purpose well for informal use. I reserve my four Pateks for works and formal occasions. Guest
I have never liked Rolex. Find it too common and you are basically paying for a lot of advertising costs. It is also battery operated mostly unlike those real watch-maker watches like Breguet. Gays in most western countries are rich and belong to a special group targeted by Private Banking Groups of most banks bec gays are typically single or if attached are both professionals and both earning much. Because they don't have children they tend to save a lot of money. They are also supposedly more clever and astute in investment. Not sure abt gays in Singapore. I have met many who are rich like their western counterparts but there are just too many poor ones too especially at sauna and massage places. Guest Guest Watcher
I alternate my watches depending on the occasions and my outfits. Usually, I will go with my Cartier Santos, Jaeger LeCoutlre Master Calendar, Hublot Big Bang, Audemars Piguets Royal Oaks... For weekend, usually I will go for a simpler Tag Huer, Fortis or Nixon. Guest
95 percents of Rolexes are MECHANICAL watches and NOT battery operated. They are extremely hardy though very uncle leh. The 5 years basic servicing also very cheap one ....only $800 nett compared to others in the high end. Patek averages about $2K in 3 years service (not repair work). camus
whoever said rolexes are battery operated doesn't know a thing. every guy should have a good wrist watch. consider a sporty everyday watch like a tag heuer aquaracer, a rolex submariner or GMT master. or omega seamaster if willing to spend a bit more, get an audemars piguet royal oak for both a sporty and dressy watch for all occasions. lohwpr
Ulysee Nardin Freak is about S$150-220k. Not $400k. Depending which Freak model, you probably can get some discount from Hourglass. Edited March 17, 2016 by lohwpr

jeeves
I'm very drawn to Cartier and Rolex watches. They look really timeless and are definitely an investment. My favourites would be Cartier Ballon Bleu and Rolex GMT or Submariner. And not forgetting AP's Royal Oak in Rose Gold. Urghh they're so beautiful! doncoin
During my teenage years I was obsessed with Swatch, and used to collect their limited editions. My all time favourite was the Adam & Eve, which came in this cool case shaped like an apple. Then there was the musical ones with music composed by Maurice Jarre etc. Anyway, I stopped wearing a watch for years when I started carrying a mobile. But recently started wearing the Apple watch. More of a glorified Fitbit really. Love.

Make sure you get the watch from a reputable dealer. Have it assessed by the watch maker to make sure it is genuine and then have it thoroughly service. I been using that Calatrava for eleven years now. It is a really understated watch. Not loud at all. It has only been serviced twice so far.
