Bern
1. Our apologies if you have faced any problems accessing BW through the url: blowingwind.org for the past two days. Our DNS auto renewal failed without any of the admins noticing (we were travelling) and we had to manually renew the domain today. 2. How this may affect you: Visitors who go to www.blowingwind.org may see a landing page instead of the BW website due to the expired domain. Emails routing through blowingwind.org were also stuck as a result. You are not affected by 1 if you have already started to visit BW from: https://www.blowingwind.io. 3. The DNS may take some time to propagate. If you have any problems, please clear your DNS cache by following the instructions here - https://www.whatsmydns.net/flush-dns.html 4. Our apologies again. Cheers, Bern Phil and HendryTan 2 Join the official BW Telegram Group Chat: https://bit.ly/frmbw

deathblade88
Btw, what is the diff between .org and .io domain ? Accessing via .org will redirect to .io So in essence there isn't any real diff.

The .org domain redirects to our current website at blowingwind.io because of a migration at the end of last year. To minimize any disruptions to our readers we have kept the .org domain for backwards compatibility. deathblade88
Hmmm…… Thanks for the clarification @Bern. By now, I think most sld be aware of the change and comfortable with it. Was wondering the money spent on mantaining the old domain could just be put to better use elsewhere.
HendryTan
Thanks for the suggestion to deprecate blowingwind.org to save money . We are keeping this for a few reasons: 1. Some non tech savvy users depend on old bookmarks and links to reach our forum. These still show blowingwind.org and is beyond our reach to re-point it to the new site except by the "redirect". 2. Secondly it is the smtp email sever . Historically at Blowingwind.org,we decided NOT to do our own email smtp servers and instead used Google Gmail Smtp services to send email and notifications. This saved us a lot of email spam policing and bounced mail issue as Google does it well. In December 2015, we tried to sign up Google smtp email services for blowingwind.io, but Google now charge$ for such services for new "domains signup" . We had to fall back on blowingwind.org to send emails, which means we need to keep blowingwind.org. 3. Not beautiful but as long as it still works for us. Cheers !
