I think we should be understanding towards him especially if he has had been hiding in the closet for so long. The public is just going to view us a SEX hungry predators... but I am so I don't care. But I feel sad for him... on the bright side, he is out and has the money to look for love on the right side.

Forgive me if I have offended anyone here.

Could it be something he said, like: "Boy, are you interested to give me a blow job? "

Guest 护家盟 VS 桂纶镁

He is actually quite flamboyant. Surprised he is married. According to christian logic: gay and lesbian couples will mess up their children's gender identity. I think a closeted gay man as flamboyant as he is has the potential to mess up his child's gender identity EVEN more!

My guess that it is sexual or romantic in nature, hence the vagueness of the information by NKF as they feel it is embarrassing.

I also think it is one-sided and was considered as harrassment, otherwise it would not have been reported by the victim. I think it has nothing to do with anti-gay agenda. Most employees who are harrassed, whether gay or straight, would report it, I would imagine?

I thought yesterday the news , one of it , mentioned something it was sexual , therefore a police report was warranted and they want to leave it to the police to handle it . or watch the full two videos posted .

I boycott NKF since the Durai scandal.

NKF board should have asked for his resignation.  Let the Police investigate first.  Months later, the ex-CEO may appear in Court but that is for the Police and AGC to decide.  Not every case is prosecuted. This affair is tragic..NKF board has made it public without a proper Police investigation.

When the NUS law professor was found guilty and jailed and served his jail sentence, a higher Court ruled he was not guilty.  To presume Guilt can be premature.  It can be consensual. Even if the sex act was done on company premises, it is best to let the Police investigate and to establish the facts.  They have the means to conscript all electronic media archives and to interrogate and cross-check.

I feel sorry for him...utter humiliation, loss of job, family exposed to humiliation.  Hope he does not commit suicide.

In fact, I boycott all charities in Singapore.

Erm, he already admitted guilt...twice.

One to his chairman. And the other during the internal disciplinary hearing.

And it's better for the board to report the incident to the police instead of the younger employee.

Apparently, he has not learned to tone down.   There were two pics of him after the sacking leaving his terrace house and getting into his car.  HIs casual wear was clearly an outward sign of he's gay to his core.  What man of his age would dress like that?

Maybe his wife dressed him in that manner? She likes a gay husband. His children adore the fashionista side of him. They are embracing him for who he is?

just felt that we need to be more impartial esp to those who have really contributed and done something good for society. but for those jiak liao bee ministirs, those should be fired immediately if their performance isnt up to mark. knn...

Agree. Aside from his sexual orientation, the fact is that he has done good for the kidney patients and I respect him for that.

NKF CEO revealed to be gay, fired for having marital affairs with male staff

By admin - November 16, 2016 20999 0

Photo-of-NKF-CEO-Edmund-Kwok-from-HRM-As

The 3-member executive committee of of National Kidney Foundation (NKF) revealed in the press conference that the NKF CEO Edmund Kwok was fired because he had a gay affair with a male NKF staff.

According to NKF chairman Koh Poh Tiong, the NKF has reported to the police but did not explain which alleged offense did the CEO commit as a homosexual relationship is not criminalised.

The extra-marital affairs first came to light when the male NKF staff made a complaint to his supervisor who alerted the human resource department. It is unknown if the CEO has harassed the male NKF which warranted a need for police report.

“The facts were presented to our lawyers, who advised us that it’s a reportable offence.

And we have a duty to all our stakeholders and staff to do the right thing. Regardless of how we feel, whether we’re sorry for him – that is not relevant.

What is relevant is that the public must know that as a board we take our job seriously – and that is to ensure NKF as an organisation continues to be able to do the right thing; that our integrity is not compromised and our operations are not compromised.”

The NKF chairman appears very worried about the case affecting donations and made multiple pleads through the media to “help” NKF:

“I feel extremely sad, because Edmund is a very good CEO, one of the best … I believe NKF is progressing. Then this happened. This is one man’s personal indiscretion. It must not affect the whole organisation and I’m talking to you as Singaporeans; as friends. Please help us … don’t let this one case destroy us.”

Whether their marital affairs are with same sex or opposite sex these people should be removed because they used their positions of authority granted them to receive such. I am sure there are many out there (straight/homo) even in the public service who are more discreet, and their 'partners/subordinates' are keeping quiet, hoping to keep their jobs and look forward to more promotions for their loyalty (at the expense of our tax paying public money). This guy however, probably wanted to split so the other guy spilled the beans.

Former National Kidney Foundation (NKF) chief executive officer Edmund Kwok (above) was spotted for the first time yesterday as more details emerged about what led to his sudden sacking. At 1.25pm yesterday, he emerged from his home.

Ex-NKF chief Edmund Kwok's case 'an abuse of power'

Sources also reveal colleague involved felt he couldn't say no, and it was first time such an encounter had occurred

The incident which led to the sacking of former National Kidney Foundation (NKF) chief executive officer Edmund Kwok was an abuse of power, a source close to the case has said.

An act of a sexual nature allegedly took place on Nov 7.

Mr Kwok, 58, approached a colleague in his early 20s, separate sources told The Straits Times.

It was the first time such an encounter had happened between both men, sources said.

It took the employee one day to inform his supervisor in NKF.

The colleague later told his supervisor that he felt he could not say no to Mr Kwok, and that he felt powerless to stop the act, said two well-placed sources. "It was a clear abuse of power," said one of them.

The younger man involved in the incident also said he did not want to escalate the matter, such as by making a police report, according to sources. He is still working for the NKF, which decided to lodge a police report.

It did so after questioning Mr Kwok. The NKF, during a press conference on Wednesday, said Mr Kwok had admitted, on two separate occasions, that the alleged incident took place.

The first was last Friday, when he was questioned by NKF chairman Koh Poh Tiong. During a disciplinary hearing on Sunday, he again said that it happened.

The organisation's lawyers advised Mr Koh that what took place was a "reportable offence".

On Monday, Mr Kwok was sacked by the NKF for the "personal indiscretion". On Tuesday, the charity made a police report.

Police investigations would have kicked in, based on the report made by the NKF, said criminal lawyer Amolat Singh .

The next step is to get a statement from the alleged victim.

The Straits Times understands from various sources that the employee who complained has yet to give a police statement.

Another criminal lawyer, Mr Shashi Nathan, said that the police would need to gather sufficient information at this stage to determine if a crime has been committed, including taking statements from the accused and other witnesses.

This will allow the authorities to determine what to charge the accused with and if the person can be arrested.

Said Mr Singh: "But if the victim is ultimately unwilling to provide his statement or testify in court, then there would be no case."

Sexual harassment victims may feel uncomfortable about speaking up, said Ms Jennifer Heng, communications director of HCSA Community Services.

"Sometimes when victims have to report the matter to a higher authority, they would be revisiting the details of their experience and this could be difficult emotionally and psychologically."

She added that some may fear the possibility of their identities, and those of their family members and friends, being exposed and open to public scrutiny.

"Also, depending on the age and the profile of the victim, the experience of speaking up to people whom they don't know personally, such as the police, can be a trauma in itself," she said.

Mr Kwok is married with two children who are in their mid-20s.

The Straits Times understands that his family have "forgiven him".

any  BWers from this church ? I wanna join this church...can Deacon married ? they are known as waiting man ?

In many traditions the "diaconate" (or deaconate), the term for a deacon's office, is a clerical office; in others it is for laity. The word "deacon" is derived from the Greek word diákonos (διάκονος), which is a standard ancient Greek word meaning "servant", "waiting-man", "minister", or "messenger

The ST reported that the victim is a colleague in his early 20s. When he was approached, he said he felt he could not say no to Mr Kwok.

If he doesn't want, he can shout and scream or kick his groin or tell him that he will call the police.

Why after doing it, then he report the incidence to the supervisor ?

no1 will terminate a CEO or a superior just cos he is poor at discretion for such matters like what some of u quoted(about the leaves)

and no professional will speak like a mother : don't ever come back here if u dare to take leave

if such things happened, the person need trgsand counselling

not sacking! if everything is about sacking, it will be endless

They r trying to put it not so upfront by saying a Pers indiscretion w a male staff and it is rather obvious

which is why I mentioned "vaguely" and I posted this in bW, and not aquarium forums, etc cos BW is alwys concern with toilet photo-taking lah, kids being sodomised by ...

and the English dept even hinted for the benefit of their patients etc , hence nkf MUST do this.....male patients could be handsome and attractive too, even if they are not, they felt uncomfy w such a CEO around mah

male patients will not have to deal their leaves and office matters w the CEO
, but the CEO is very friendly w the patients (the article reported clearly), u shd know what it meant

hence I m amused by how some of u tried to speculate in the wrong direction, by asking us nt to misunderstood or speculate: and pls leave the income alone ie a totally diff matter

It could be :

Male staff : Sir I want to apply urgent leave

Boss : LC  ; ( BLUE BIRD), so busy, u still want to apply leave..LP ( BLUE DADDY)  don't come back again if u take leave

Male Staff : I will report Police cos u use Blue Bird and Blue Daddy language.

the above is also : personal indiscretion - lack of good judgement
